Which would you recommend, UBNT or Cisco?

I'm looking to upgrade my current HP 1810-24 v2 switch. I currently have a UBNT EdgeRouter X as well as several UBNT UAP-AC-LR access points. Right now I'm looking for something that supports layer 3 such as the Ubiquiti 24port EdgeMax (ES-24-LITE) or get a Cisco SG 300-28 28-port. Of these two...

How best to deploy 24 new hosts?

@Nicholas - I agree with you regarding your hesitation about using Host Profiles. I have used them back in the 5.0 days and noticed some quirkiness. That said it seems Auto Deploy uses them a lot and while I'm certainly not a PowerCLI guy - if you have any links or additional information...

How best to deploy 24 new hosts?

Yes we have enterprise plus licenses. @Nicholas, if not using Auto Deploy and host profiles, how would PXE booting directly to an ISO be any better?

How best to deploy 24 new hosts?

Looks like I'm going to be playing around with Auto Cache for the next several days. Thanks for the suggestions.

How best to deploy 24 new hosts?

In about 2-3 weeks time I will be receiving 24 new blades across 3 new chassis. Each blade consists of 4x E5-4640, 1.5TB RAM, 200GB SSD SAS, and 2x 2GB SD cards. My idea is to use the SD cards to install ESXi 5.5 U2, and maybe use the SSD for some sort of caching if possible (we use FC...

thin or zero clients recommendation for horizon 6?

Alex, Having been in the same boat some time ago I'll share my thoughts. First I would contact several companies such as Dell, HP, 10zig, EVGA, Samsung, etc to have them each send you several units to demo. In most cases they are typically very happy to let you try their hardware. Second would...

Looking for Win Server 2012 Home Lab Advice

This isn't entirely true, your motherboard also must support VT-d along with the CPU as well. (source). Most server boards do support VT-d but not all desktop motherboards.

RDP connections for Server Foundation or Essentials?

@dbwillis, thanks for the link! I did end up downloading the Essentials .ISO and spinning up a quick test VM. I was able to connect one RDP connection without being kicked off the console, the second RDP connection knocked out console. They are going to be using this mostly as a file server so...

    I need a server

I agree, for just 2-3 VM's - workstation would work just fine. If you're wanting to go the "hardware" route then an Intel NUC will certainly work. I use them in my home lab (http://miketabor.com/vmware-esxi-5-home-lab-upgrade/) and they perform beautifully for my needs.

RDP connections for Server Foundation or Essentials?

I'm looking for a solution for a small business here in town, they are getting to the point where they need to have a small server to centrally locate files, printers, and so on. There are only 3 computers in the office so I'm thinking about going with either Server 2012 Foundation or...

VMware ESXi slow boot with RDM's

FC I figured that would be the case and was afraid of that. Add this to another reason why I hate RDM's. :D

VMware ESXi slow boot with RDM's

I have several hosts that have RDM's (they are the bane of my existence) which is causing VERY slow ESXi boot times (4+ hours). I know there is a KB on how to fix this by running: esxcli storage core device setconfig -d naa.id --perennially-reserved=true And I've already created a script...
