Congrats, mate. When's it shipping? Will you tell us how you like the MacBook when it arrives?

    Skinning OSX

Yes, I'm the same way. UNO and Cleardock are the only "skinning" I did on OS X. It really is a beautiful OS to start with. edit: I only use UNO to get rid of brushed metal windows. Everything else stays on default aqua.

    MacBook High Definition?

There are a lot of HD trailers on www.apple.com/trailers. Has anyone actually played 1080p video on their MacBook?

thinking about renewing my apple status

There is no need to "switch" any more. You can dual boot OS X and Vista or use Parallels to virtualize Vista.

    'Pretty' laptops

Although I wouldn't call them pretty, ThinkPads have a simple, functional elegance that is missing from all other Windows laptops. Their no-BS design is totally without frills. You won't see any wacky color schemes or odd angles on it. They are also very tough and reliable machines...

I want to buy an iMac but I need some help.

If you're not hurting for a computer, then it may be wise to wait. I think the iMac will be redesigned some time this year. It could be in the spring, summer, or fall. But whatever you decide, it is best to get a computer when you need it and damn the consequences. There is always something...

    My recent apple experience.

How is your music stored on your computer? How many gigabytes is your library? Does your iTunes have a separate folder or does it also use "My Music"? Go to advanced settings and look for something like "copy music to itunes folder when importing." If this is checked, then iTunes is maintaining...

    My recent apple experience.

You don't have to use AAC. Go to itunes / preferences / advanced / importing and switch "import using:" to mp3. Then you can set the bitrate, etc to whatever you want. (That's how I get to it on the Mac. If you have a PC, it is only slightly different.) I don't know why it works on other iPods...

    My recent apple experience.

It is probably a problem with the codec. You can try converting the songs in iTunes to AAC and see what happens. Right-click a problematic song and select "convert selection to aac" then export that to your iPod.

I want to buy an iMac but I need some help.

Keep in mind that Leopard is coming out soon and that the current iMac design is about 3 years old and due for a refresh. The case is built around the thermal requirements of a very hot G5 processor. I think it will be updated sometime this year. Also, it is conceivable that the iMac will use...

    Transporting large displays

I shipped a Dell 2005fpw cross country in its original box. $30 at UPS. No probs. Still, I would prefer a laptop for college. Logistics of transporting a desktop are a pain.

    Dell 2007wfp Glare Coating Question

Does the 2007wfp have the same reddish anti-glare coating as the 2005fpw? I used to have the 2005fpw but the coating drove me mad and I gave it away as a present.
