I've had this computer running for a year Raid0 without problems. Recently I have been getting BSOD's for random programs. Overclocked, and stock speeds.
I reformatted, and tried installing windows XP, I would get to the GUI interface, all files would load, when the "Time remaining" reached 0...
After a week or so of troubleshooting a boot problem, I have got this chip stable at 2.8 w/ 1.43v. I had a major problem and it took over a week to discover that the problem was the PSU. The Fortron 500w was not enough power to run my system. I now have the OCZ 700w and it's been running fine...
Update:
Got the OCZ 700w yesterday, installed, zero problems booting so far. Every time I have turned the system off, it has powered on the first time I've hit the button. So I believe its solved for now. I was really worried thinking if this didn't work, then it had to be a mobo issue...
sounds like we are in the same boat. Try puttin in your single again, mine works fine when I do that.
I will give you a heads up when this new PSU arrives. Hopefully it will solve the problem.
Does anyone feel this could be a NF4 Chipset Driver issue? I believe I'm using 6.53.
Should the NF4 Chipset driver be updated to something newer? Does the chipset driver need to change to support dual core chips?
I think everyone is ignoring the fact that I keep mentioning that this PSU has had ZERO issues for over a year. Once the dualcore went in, that's when it started. Its not like i just bought this PSU and it gave problems from the beginning, no.
The situation is the CPU, heres a quick...
The system has run fine for a year, once i put in the dual core it changed.
It's not the Ram voltage. If i put in the opty 148 it works fine. So its an issue with the dual core and power. I just ordered a 700w ocz and this better fix the problem.
Just got done with a 46 hour long cmos clear, and the problem is still there. So I'm thinking that the 500w Fortron Blue Storm is not enough power for this dual core chip. Which shocks me. So I just ordered a OCZ OCZ700GXSSLI and this better fix the problem.
If this problem is still present...
Looking for some opinions on a good dual core air cooler. I prefer it being quieter if possible, then again I can control the fan speed.
So shoot away, I currently have a Zalman CNPS9500 and its not doing the job all that well at keeping this cpu cool.
Trying to keep under $70.
Thanks everyone.
My Speedfan shows my Vcore voltages different for each processor.
One core shows 1.38v
The other core shows 1.28v
Is this normal? Heres a pic of speedfan.

Thanks for the response.
I have tried 4 different bios's, same thing.
Remember, this system has had zero problems for a year until I dropped in the dual core.
Putting in the opty 148 fixes the problem immediately.
I'm about to buy a new PSU, tonight I'm doing a long cmos clear and...
I have a DFI NF4 Ultra-D.
I've had my mobo over a year running fine no problem with my Old Opty 148. Recently I installed a dual core opty 170 and am now having boot problems.
The problem is the computer will not turn on when pressing the power button. In the morning, afternoon, night, even...
CABYE 0542 FPMW without IHS
Selling my 148 because I have a new 170 :) Had to move to dual-core one day!
I removed the IHS to help with temps. Attached you will find a picture of the chip.
Excellent overclocker. Easily capable of 3.0+. Attached are some pictures of the chip "naked." Search...
Got a 6800GS and usually run it around 485/1150.
I reset some settings and am now trying to OC in rivatuner. I will set the speeds and when I restart my computer, the settings revert back to default. I have the "Apply settings at startup" checked 485/1150.
The strange thing is, when I...
