    Ga-x58a-ud3r bios update - @BIOS

I have an old workstation with an ga-x58a-ud3r and X5560 wich I wanted to upgrade to an 980x. Since the installed bios version does not support it I need to update it - So far so good. The only problem that arises ist, that q-flash (the build-in updater) does only support 1mb flashing operations...

    Android 11 WiFi no throughput

I have a Xiaomi Redmi note 8 pro which received the update to Android 11 about two weeks ago. For the most part it's a better experience - good enough at least for me not willing to go back to 10 - but I have massive issues with the WiFi connection. Basically every time I do "something" the...

Finding a short on a graphics card

I have already tried both so it's probably a faulty GPU as far as I can tell but huge thanks anyway.

Finding a short on a graphics card

Yes, it's the direct cu II. The resistance from the phase to ground is smaller than 100m ohm and in between is probably non (as to be expected). I can't tell the exact numbers though since my multimeter is very imprecise. They are also not shorted to ground.

Samsung and AMD = Quest type product?

I was but nowadays I don't keep up with most of the VR related news - so just throwing out xD

    pump noise D5

Disclaimer - I have never worked with a custom water cooler but know a bit about fluid dynamics and mechanics. What kind of pump do you have? In case it is a centrifugal pump it could air bubbles or a bad bearing. On a positive displacement pump it could be a broken rotor (or how ever they are...

    computer freezes

This is definitely strange - if you are sure it is caused by the psu it could be voltage fluctuations since as far as i know cooler master only re brands cheap power supplies. Which 1050 ti do you have? In case it's cheaper one it could have problems delivered the necessary voltages and...

Samsung and AMD = Quest type product?

I wouldn't say the silence has to mean much since Samsung slept for years on the gaming monitor market as well. But it wouldn't surprise me either - they had a quick glimpse into VR with the "successful" Gear VR so why shouldn't they try it themselves? I would be really nice to finally see some...

    Crypto Mining With A Smartwatch!

I can't wait to see the galaxy watch prices sky rocket due to all the mining farms XD You just need 200000 for the power of a single RX 570 - that's what I call efficency!

Monitors blip off then on after returning from sleep mode.

I'm pretty sure that's not the problem - but have you the same scaling on all the monitors? I once had a similar problem with windows rearranging the secondary desktop after powering on out of sleep mode.

    Video stuttering in Firefox

Have you looked into task manager? Maybe it's a bug and hardware acceleration is still active or the setting gets overwritten. In this case you could try resetting the options or reinstalling it in general. I don't know whether there is an option to keep all your cookies etc but it may be worth...

Finding a short on a graphics card

Firstly - sorry for the late reply and also for the unspecific title. I just wanted to be as general as possible. I tested the 280x once more and found out that the two shorted phases are the only ones not connected to the others. This makes me believe that those are actually not vCore but...

GTX 1050 Ti extremely low memory resistance

First isopropanol then fingers (as soon as I'm sure there is nothing on fire xD). The gpu got about as warm, as you would expect from a card with vCore but no vMem. The memory chips where only barely noticeable. I also put it onto my test bench (since if the memory controller is dead it won't...

GTX 1050 Ti extremely low memory resistance

Is there anything else I could check to be sure that's the problem?

Finding a short on a graphics card

I have a Zotac 960 mini and a R9 280X from Asus with a short to ground - the 960 on vMem and the 280X on the upper two vCore phases. Since there is no visible damage on both cards i proceeded to hooking up my power supply and setting it to 0,9V/1,5V. After slowly increasing the current up to 10A...
