    I am using a 19" NEC/Mitsubishi Diamondtron, sweet display! My only complaint was slight blurriness of text at high resolution, but was fixed by playing with the focus screws on the side of the monitor. Trinitron and Diamondtron are really the last good tubes made, cant go wrong with either.

    Cacti is great. It doesn't use MRTG, but the more advanced and flexible RRDtool (also from the guy who made MRTG). You can graph -anything- with RRD/Cacti. If you can get integers from a host, via SNMP, command output, or otherwise, itll create a graph.

    I've had problems with VIA on-board LAN controllers. Either install an add-on NIC, or see about RMA'ing the motherboard. You can find a $7 NIC based on a pretty reliable Realtek 8139 chipset almost anywhere.
