Hello, this is a bit of a noob question, but can I mix 2 different 8600GT in SLI mode? Got suckered into buying a BFG 8600GT OC; it has a pretty mild overclock (565mhz vs. 540 mhz standard). Can cards from different manufacturers be mixed? If they are at different speeds, will both cards...
System now hangs in mid POST, displaying the memory timings and then shutting down.
Sometimes, system will power up, with fans and HDD spinning up, but no video signal is displayed.
I've tried clearing the CMOS, no affect. There is no BIOS update available.
Something tells me this...
Hello,
I'm having a problem with a budget system I put together a couple of months ago. Components as folows:
Machspeed msnv-939 (aka Biostar NF4-a9a v1.2) nforce 4 standard
X23800 (s939) stock clocked
Arctic Cooling Pro 64
BFG 8600gt stock settings
WD 500GB sata drive
LG 18x sata...
Ideally, no more than $300, but that won't happen unless I can find a relativley cheap videocard on sale. I wouldn't mind a 7600GS or the like; hopefully prices will drop following the introduction of the 8600.
I know Machspeed boards aren't the greatest, but I figure a NF4 is an NF4...
Hello All,
Looking to upgrade on the cheap and leverage as many components from my old system as possible.
Current Specs/items to be upgraded
Mach Speed P4m800 MB w/ skt. 478 P4 2.8a o/ced to 3.2ghz on stock cooler
Radeon X1600pro 256mb AGP
2 GB DDR3200
Taking a look at this...
Which should be faster for video encoding? Components (hard drives, soundcard, videocard and 333mhz Ram) have been carried over from the 2200 XP Thoroughbred A (KT266a chipset) to a 2.93 GHZ Celeron (p4m800 chipset).
I thought the Celeron would be faster, given the faster clockspeed (1ghz +...
Built a new rig with a Sapphire x1600pro AGP. Fresh XP install with Catalyst 6.2 and CCC. Everything works fine, but there is no OverDrive option in CCC. Tried installing Tray Tool .26, and it reports my VPU as running 0.0mhz core and memory. Any attempts to use the overclock functions or...
Finally got it to work properly. Problem was with the CMOS jumper. The cap that was supposed to cover 2 of the three pins wasn't making proper contact. Replaced cap after losing the original one when clearing the CMOS for the umpteenth time. I assume when the system was being tested, the tech...
Tried removing all the components several times. I've seen the board tested with another CPu and the board and CPU tested together. Has anyone had any experience with Machspeed boards and run into similar problems? Their website is useless, but the reviews for the board at TigerDirect make no...
Hello. I'm building a low end box for a friend, and I have run into some problems I can't figure out. I'm using the following components:
- Generic case
- Coolmax v400 PSU
- Celeron D 340 (socket 478) with stock HSF
- Mach Speed P4M800 (Via chipset with integrated graphics)
- 80GB Maxtor...
Thanks for all the feedback. Turns out the system wouldn't POST due to a faulty connection from the case mounted switch and the motherboard. Took the motherboard out of the case, shorted the jumpers on the motherboard and it booted up. :o
After years of visiting [H]ardOCP, I finally...
Sorry for my noob-ness. First time working with a s478 proc, and while applying AS5, I put a little too much. The little hole near the corner notch swallowed some AS5, and the system will not POST.
Now, I didn't drown the processor, and it didn't flow over the IHS. I had the motherboard...
