    Upgrade or New Build?

This is my current setup that I built a few years ago (late '06, early '07): AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+ cpu ASUS M2N-E socket AM2 (nForce 570 Ultra) mobo eVGA GeForce 7600 GT PCI-Ex16 gfx card 2GB of G.Skill DDR2 800 memory The last upgrade I did was bumping up the RAM from 1gig to 2gigs...

    My tentative new setup

@The Goose I don't plan on OCing but it's not something I'll rule out in the future @Danny Bui It's not really a budget so much as a "guideline." It's not concrete, I'm just trying to keep it around that price range. And the memory is this one I actually kind of already ordered the...

    My tentative new setup

Thanks for the replies. I'd like to keep it under $700 if possible. It'll be mainly for gaming. I know that won't get me a screaming fast set up, but I figure I should be able to handle most games. The 7600gt is mainly just to hold me over for a while until the dx10 cards are affordable.

    My tentative new setup

I'm finally upgrading my computer, and these were the parts I was thinking about getting: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+ Brisbane XFX GeForce 7600GT XXX 1gb G.SKILL DDR2 800 Asus M2N-E mobo Seagate Barracuda SATA 320GB hdd Apevia ATX-CW500WP4 ATX 500W psu does anyone have any...

    Will this mobo fit?

I have an XBlade ATX case and I read somewhere that the max mobo size for it is 12 x 9.5. If I were to get an Asus M2N-E ATX mobo, which is 12 x 9.6, do you think it would fit? Will a tenth of an inch make a difference? Thanks

    Video card vs. Processor Question

Ahh.. interesting. Well thanks =) I guess I'll just wait and see how things develop over the next two months.

    Video card vs. Processor Question

Cool, thanks. Yeah it would mainly be for gaming. What is am2? And I am assuming NF5 means nForce 5? I am planning on asking for these things for my birthday, which isn't until May 17, so things will probably have changed by then (like the 7900 as you said).

    Video card vs. Processor Question

I'm thinking about upgrading my computer soon, and I was wondering whether I should get a middle-of-the-line video card and a faster processor, or a better video card and a slower processor. Which do you guys think would perform better? eVGA 6800 GS and AMD Athlon 64 3500+ or eVGA 7800...

    Does everything look good?

I dunno about SLI yet.. I figured that I would just get one card, then in the future if my source of income increased, maybe pick up another. The SLI board is mainly just so I have the option in the future so I don't have to buy a whole new board. But now I am considering just getting a...

    Does everything look good?

I want to upgrade my computer, and these are the parts I was thinking of getting, and I just wanted a second opinion on them: MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum SLI motherboard AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 90nm s939 processor eVGA 7800 GT 256MB 256-P2-N516 video card I've read reviews and everything seems...

FS: 300 Dollars. 2.4 GHZ Pentium 4. Full Computer

This computer is in great working condition. The only downside to it is that the case is beat up pretty bad. There are quite a few scratches and small dents over it. This computer was mostly used as a web surfing machine. No heavy use. INCLUDED: 64MB NVIDIA Video Card 1 100gb hd...

    What is "process type"?

Ahh. Is one better than the other? What impact does this have on performance?

    What is "process type"?

I was looking at processors on newegg and in the Specs section, they have an entry called "Process Type". All the processors I've seen have either "0.13 µm" or "90 nm" listed for it. What does it all mean? (I did a search but couldn't find anything about this)
