Does formatting on W7 or W10 make a difference? It is using the NTFS that it came with from the enclosure. I had considered reformatting it. I will look up the SATA port count and move to 1-4 if it is not on there already.

My new system has 2 physical HDs. A 1tb Samsung HD103SJ and a WDC WD80FAX-68LHPn0. Copying from the WDC to the Samsung I will get anywhere from 168mb to as slow as 87mb. That is fine. But if I copy from anywhere to the WDC I will get 10 to 15 MB transfer rate. I have been fighting this for a...
There is no void sticker on the 2 I got. Both are red. I shucked one last night after confirming a red drive. Be aware that I did not find a void sticker on the enclosure. I haven't looked at how the drive is mounted in the enclosure.

Thanks for the info. Really has me baffled. All my other USB 3 work fine on the ports. It is just the easystore. Even odder is if I use USB 2 extension cable on the USB 3 port. Drive will work fine. It is only when I switch to a USB 3 extension cable it won't work.
I going to try plunging it...
Does anyone use these as an actual USB drive? I got one a week ago and it works fine on USB 2 but will not detect on USB 3. This is on Win 7.

Dell xp install will work on any machine. But you have to call and activate. I got XP from joejoe last year. Installed on my laptop and was fine after I called to activate.
Good guy to deal with.

No the tape didn't melt. I couldn't leave it on long eoungh to find out. Artifacting started right at boot time. I promise I am not a rookie at this. I was OCing on my 286 when I had to change the crystal with a soldering iron. (Yes I am dating myself. :) )
The tape was making good contact.
No, the new heatsinks touch the memory. They just do it with thermal tape. Not to the heatsink directly.
I have tried seating both of them 2 times each. I even checked the pattern on the heatsink after putting it on and taking it off.
I have never had this problem before.
I just got and MSI nx 6800gt. I then went out and got a Thermalright v1 cooler. Which has gotten great reviews and Thermalright is the only cooler I run on my CPUs. No matter how I set it up the card started artifacting on boot up.
Then being a glutton for punishment I got an nv 5 rev 2...
