Could the flickering be a symptom of a bad PSU.. I am of the belief that if the psu is faulty,there would be random reboots,crashes..bsods... which is not the case here.

The vga cable I am using does not have a ferrite core ( cylinder behind the pin). Could that be a reason for the screen to flicker.I was using it for about 3-4 months with no probelm... I will try getting a better quality cable..and test it..
