Danny / tiraides,
Thanks for the input. I crunched the numbers and this will knock quite a bit off my total cost without really sacrificing any noticeable performance.
This will make it easier to go ahead and upgrade my display. Now if I could just decide between one 30" or a 3 monitor...
Thanks Danny. I really appreciate the quick reply.
My logic for the Z68 was that I was under the impression that this would allow me to drop in an Ivy Bridge CPU when they are available if I choose to down the road. I was trying to build with flexibility in mind.
As for Asus, it's not so...
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Primarily building for gaming but will serve as my all purpose home PC - web surfing, iTunes etc.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
Around $3,000 - $3,500 including shipping. This is for...
Need some advice guys.
Im in the process of building a new i930/5870 machine. However, I pushed my luck a little too long with my current rig and I believe the video card has died out. Comp seems to be running fine but I have no video to the monitor after boot up. Normally I would just...
Thanks for the input guys. Guess I might stay with XP for a while longer unless the onboard sound offered by the eVGA board is high quality. If the onboard sound is alright I may go ahead and go with Vista.
Also, thanks for the head's up on the G80 refresh. I'll probably go the eVGA route...
Last week I was going to update a couple of components in my old AMD4000/7800GTX system and, as one thing lead to another, have decided to just go ahead and build a new system as I'm looking to get back into gaming and want to take the DX10/Vista plunge.
I'm thinking of the following...
Mainly for the space and the fact that my six year old 21" NEC CRT eats up a large portion of desk space. Granted the 3007 is large but it doesn't have near the footprint of my current monitor.
I used to play a lot of FPS games but frankly haven't played a good one in quite a while. I'm...
Thinking about upgrading to a Dell 3007. My question is around hardware. My current system is about two years old and am using a EVGA 7800 GTX KO (256 meg version).
About the only game I play is Age of Empires - and that is rare. Will this card be sufficient for that or do I need to...
Thanks for the help.
One other question:
If I decide to wire the fans into slots 5 and 6 on the control panel, where do I put the yellow wire? The slots have contact points labeled for red and black but the fans have three wires - red, black and yellow.
I'm a newbie struggling through my first build and need some help on installing a fan controller (Zalman ZM-MFC 1). The case is a Cooler Master Stacker 810. I have four 120mm fans (2 front, 2 rear), one 80mm fan (top), and a Zalman 9500 CPU cooler I would like to hook up to the controller...
I'm a newbie going through my first build. I'm going to use 4 Hitachi Deskstar 250 gig SATA 3.0 gig drives in my system and was wondering about cables. Does SATA 3.0 require a different type of cable than the 150mbps SATA?
Thanks for the help.
