Never mind, I just ordered this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=14-127-772.
I didn't know there were mini ITX GPU's out there until I discovered the MSI and Asus 760's this morning. For $249 this is the perfect card for my needs.
Now for the waiting. Ugh.
I've decided to take the plunge and build an mITX rig. As you can see from my sig it's been a while since I've bought the latest and greatest. Frankly, my rig can still handle most games, so the new build is just a "because I can" rig. Here are the specs for my new build:
EVGA Hadron Air...
Thanks, all. Good points. Re: TN panels, definitely something I'm picky about. Both of my desktop LCD's are IPS.
I decided to go with an MSI G Series GE70 with a GTX 660M. The 1600 x 900 res appeals to me, but since I also use my laptop for work the higher resolution will work out better. I...
I've been reviewing 17.3" gaming laptops with Nvidia 670M GXT GPU's. Most of them run 1900 x 1200 native res, but the Toshibo Quosmio's native res is 1600 x 900. Understanding that I'll get better frame rates with a 1600 x 900 res, I'm curious which you would go with.
Any advice would be...
I picked up an XFX 6950 on Sunday and haven't been able to get it run with CCC drivers. The drivers install, but as soon as Windows starts the driver goes into an endless cycle of "amdkmdap has stopped and recovered". After it recovers my screen goes black approximately every 5-10 seconds and...
I had in the back of mind that the updated 1GB 460's might be a better value now, but wasn't really sure. Since I haven't placed the Newegg order yet, and I can get instant gratification at Micro Center, I'll go grab the 460.
As always, [H] member rule. Thanks, gang.
Yeah, agreed. I've only had one Asus video card, and that was a long time ago. I'm a big fan of their mobos, though. XFX and EVGA are always my 1st choice for video cards.
Turns out the Micro Center 460 GTX price I saw may be wrong. The final cost is after two mail in rebates, which I doubt...
Yeah, I saw the HIS card. Unfortunately I care about who makes the card, due to bad experiences in the past. I'm looking at XFX, Asus, EVGA or Visiontek, since I've never any of their components die on me.
I just checked again, though, and an Asus 5770 after MIR is $119.
Hmm.
Why I love [H]: This thread. I'm doing this comparision right now and decide to check [H] for advice. Boom, two clicks and I'm there. lol
I can get an EVGA 460 1GB for $149 after MIR, or an XFX 5770 for $130. This card is for my 2nd rig, which isn't in my sig. I'm running an E7200 2.53GHz and...
XFX all the way. I keep selling them to upgrade, because of the double lifetime warranty. Just upgraded to a 5870 from a 4890, because a guy at work offered me $200 for the 4890.
Took me this long to carve out some time to test. The Memory Low Gap was the solution. Had to go to 3, but that did the trick.
Just thought I would post what worked, in case anyone runs into something similar.
Thanks, okskatefan, and everyone else. [H] members always come through!
I'll give that a shot. I did dust, but I didn't blow out the slots. Worth a shot.
Only a 400 watt, althought I just put an OCZ 500 watt in my secondary machine. I could try that. Wouldn't use it for every day use, but if my problem went away I would have a good case to present to Corsair...
