I've decided to take the plunge and build an mITX rig. As you can see from my sig it's been a while since I've bought the latest and greatest. Frankly, my rig can still handle most games, so the new build is just a "because I can" rig. Here are the specs for my new build:

EVGA Hadron Air Case with 500w PSU
Asus Maximus VI Impact mobo
i7 4670k
EVGA ACX CPU Cooler
Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1866 RAM
Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB SSD
WD 1TB Black HDD

My dilemma is that I can recycle an Asus Radeon 7850 CU II CPU, or upgrade to a newer card. Here are my guardrails:

1. Money is no object
2. I will only be gaming at 1900 x 1200 on a 24" monitor for the next ~2 years (until I can get a 2560 x 1600 IPS at a reasonable price - like, say, a 27" that doesn't yet exist).
3. TDP matters. The psu was tested by EVGA with a GTX 780, but that's overkill for me and I wouldn't try it with a 500w psu.
4. I like to run at max settings, with the exception of AA, which I can live with at 2x or 4x on a 24" monitor
5. My preference would be a 280x, but the TDP is much higher than the 270x. I'm also not sure if it's worth waiting for 280x prices to settle down, since I'm running at a lower res.
6. I prefer AMD, but a GTX 760 could be a good option, too.

After scouring numerous reviews I'm torn. The 270x is clearer better than my 7850 at 1920 x 1200, but I'm not sure it's a worthy upgrade.

So the question is: What would you do?

Amazon 290X properly priced.
Look on the right side of the page. See the direct from Amazon price of $579? Don't thank me; thank the guys on the forum that linked it previously. :)

Thanks for the link anyway, Cageymaru.

"Amazon out of stock" is still $US100 better than any Australian deal, even with shipping. So I've now bought one. Now to see when it actually gets confirmed ... The waiting begins.

@Pyros We're starting to see more attention paid to smaller form factor parts. Your timing is good.
