I would like to upgrade to a 64bit system. I have a good case/power supply and 2GB ram on my Gigabyte GA-8KNXP ver1 motherboard. This mb is an AGP board so I would like to move up to PCI Express and get a new video card. I would like to just remove the old mb and pop in a new one that supports...
I decided to add some more memory to my GA-8KNXP Rev. 1 (BIOS version F13). I matched the Corsair chips and bought a 2 Gb kit from Newegg. I already had 1Gb installed so I decided to keep it and have a 3Gb system. I am going to run Linux on it.
The first time I installed the 2Gb kit I had...
You should definitely go with what fits. My Scythe Ninja-mini just barely fit. It hits against my Dual PS card in my GA-8KNXP motherboard, but not so that it shorts anything out.
I don't know what other folks do, but I like to just spread a thin coat as recommended by the manufacturer.
I forgot to mention that if I put a CD or DVD with data, the Sony will see that, but it takes about 3-5 minutes for it to do that. The disc light comes on and then I have to wait a long time before it recognizes a disc (CD or DVD) with data on it.
I had to reload XP +SP2 on two PC's. Both of them have SONY DRU-510A dvd writers.
Now neither one can see a blank DVD, either DVD-RW or DVD+RW, when I put one in the tray. They can be seen by My Computer and by Device manager and are showing no errors. I loaded the latest device drivers from...
I got the Scythe Mini Ninja and my idle temp went from 44C down to 38C. I ran Prime95 as a stress test and the CPU temp never got above 50C.
Thanks for all the help. Much cooler around here now.

I have a P4 Northwood 2.8Ghz in a Gigabyte GA-8KNXP mobo.
When I run a game, the CPU temp maxes out and the board resets.
I ordered a Scythe Ninja Mini and I want to install it and then run something that will stress the CPU and let me use SpeedFan to monitor and log the temp results.
What...
I will keep this CPU for now.
Maybe in 6 months or so I will change mobo so I can move up to C2D or Quads, but now for now.
Budget is not a problem, I just want a solid reliable cooler to help me isolate this heat problem.
I have a Pentium 4 2.8Ghz Northwood Socket 478 mPGA and my CPU temp goes from 42C to over 65C in a few minutes whenever the CPU gets busy. When I try to play Company of Heroes it only runs for short time before the mobo resets itself. I am using SpeedFan and the log shows the CPU went real...
I am brand new to this overclocking ability.
Is there somewhere that I can read a FAQ about what overclocking is, and how it is done, and about memory timings, etc. etc..
A lot of the terms used in the forum are unknown to me.
I would like to read and learn something before I start asking the...
All of these boards were recommended to me. My question is will all of them overclock the same? Is the difference between them just more "bells and whistles" ??
Thanks,
Phil
Thanks for the quick response.
I will look at that IP35 Pro for sure.
I was also recommended the Gigabyte P35C-DS3R DDR2/DDR3 (Intel P35) mainboard
Thanks
I have decided to upgrade my home game system to a Core 2 Duo system and wanted some recommendations from people who have been gaming with a Core 2 Duo system for some time. I would especially like to hear from people who have been successfully overclocking their boards and still having a stable...
