I have decided to upgrade my home game system to a Core 2 Duo system and wanted some recommendations from people who have been gaming with a Core 2 Duo system for some time. I would especially like to hear from people who have been successfully overclocking their boards and still having a stable system.

I don't have an unlimited budget so I need to stay under $200 for the motherboard.
Also any recommendations on which Core 2 Duo CPU is recommended. I am leaning towards the 2.6Ghz model and plan to overclock.

Thanks, regards,

Phil

The IP35 pro!! Its very easy to oc, very stable, supports the new intel cpus thats coming, good customer support, etc......... I have the IP35-E (same board, less features) and I'm new to oc'ing and I am able to reach 3.4 with my E6600 stable, I've hit 3.6 with it but the temps were a little too high with my cooler. BTW I would just get a E2140 oc the heck out of it and wait till the the new cpus come out and get one of them (they will run cooler and oc better from what i hear).

Just my Two cents

what features do you need & what would you like?
If you don't need anything too fancy you can do it for under $100 let alone $200.
The aforementioned IP35 Pro has all the bells & whistles & is $150 at newegg after rebate.
The slightly less featured IP35 can be found for just under $100 after rebate & the relatively basic but fast & solid IP35-E should be even cheaper.
If you prefer Gigabytes or MSIs then they have equivalents.

Thanks for the quick response.
I will look at that IP35 Pro for sure.
I was also recommended the Gigabyte P35C-DS3R DDR2/DDR3 (Intel P35) mainboard

Thanks

second for ip35 pro. i have had one for several months with a q6600 and couldnt be more satisfied.

But does the ip35 support sli cause I'm looking for one that does. Id like to get one that does support ddr2 1066 ram but if not that would be ok. It would also be great if it could overclock very well. What would any one recommend for me.

The only chipsets that officially support SLI are nVidia's - & that's about the only thing going for them ...

The IP35 Pro supports Crossfire (ATis equivalent), will run 1066 RAM & overclocks rather well.

if you need an sli board get the evga 680i a1. or one of the 680i lt boards, like dfi or evga. the 780i boards should be out soon, but they will probably cost $100 more than the current 680i boards, and all they add is a third 16 lane pci express slot (for 3 card sli of course) and a few minor changes.
