I installed Acronis drive manager after the drive was always accessing data. It scored only 18% and current pending sector count and offline uncorrectable sector count r/w operation failed.
I then installed Seagates seatools to check drive. It failed the short and long generic tests.
Can you have two drives labeled C: after plugging in old HDD or will I have to rename it?
I read on the RMA process to Seagate that they send you a different drive so yes I will make sure to get the stuff I need transfered and then erase it before sending it in.

OK I tried shorting the power pins and still nothing. I did take out vid card, memory, but still in the case. I'll try using older mem, and vid card. Just cant figure out how it can just stop working.

I have the Plextor 716-SA. I have it plugged into the Nvidia SATA ports. I installed the lastest firmware. I havent burned anything yet, but it reads Silent hunter3 and I copied files from a CD-R. Will have to check out the DVD burner this weekend.
I went with the WC setup cause it gets so hot here even with AC,that I thought WC would be better. As for the risk? I figure what the hell live on the edge.
