    perc 6i vs br10i (maybe 9201-8i)

I havent had much luck with ZFS onLinux in the past, and hence i usually setup a smartos / solaris vm for that. I am thinking I will run RAID 10 on the Perc, with the BBU and just run EL7's XFS, for the VM Datastore.

    perc 6i vs br10i (maybe 9201-8i)

Looking to rebuild my vm server and move from ESXi to oVirt or EL7 and Kimchi. Ok, lets get to the matter at hand.... I have a 15k.7 drive, that will will be hooking up as the os drive. I have 4x 15k.6 146GB drives that I wish to configure in a RAID 10 for the VM Datastore. The...

free NAS OS that doesnt need ECC

As far as I know, none of them require ECC. ECC is just highly recommended, as you are storing a lot of data in the cache that ECC holds and it would be a shame for something to be written with errors. There are many writeups on this around the net. I would research before making the choice.

    Nexenta 4 - Sluggish performance

I just installed Nexenta 4 on my ESXi box to replace my nas4free box and I notice that the performance is very sluggish, it just has an overall slow feel. I have 4 cores and 8gb of memory, and nothing I do seems to get this thing feeling faster. sshing in is slow, webui is slow, i have...

PERC 5i unable to create VMFS

Wouldnt work that way.. From what I am reading is VT-D needs to be off entirely, in order for this to work correctly. Not possible as I have another card being passed to a vm.

PERC 5i unable to create VMFS

lopoetve, I tried messing with a few more things and I was eventually able to get the card to pass, but then it failed in the VM. I am going to chaulk this card up to having issues with vt-d as I had figured. Other cards are working fine.

    Seagate 15k SAS Comparssion chart?

Is there a chart available anywhere that will show the differences between the different 15k seagate drives? I ask this because I have a few of them from different system pulls and I was thinking of setting up a raid 1+0 with them. I just want to make sure its doable and what I may or may not...
