Nexenta 4 - Sluggish performance

I just installed Nexenta 4 on my ESXi box to replace my nas4free box and I notice that the performance is very sluggish, it just has an overall slow feel.

I have 4 cores and 8gb of memory, and nothing I do seems to get this thing feeling faster.

sshing in is slow, webui is slow, i have tinkered with network settings, not lost packets. Filesharing is perfect, but configuration is just a pain.

Any ideas?
