I figured I'd post a little update. We ended up buying an EVGA GTX 750ti oc 2gb. The card is a considerable upgrade for his system, and he's pretty happy with the choice.
Purchased it refurbished from Tiger Direct for 82$
Thanks for the advice, I think a 750ti will be a good option, and the lower power consumption is a bonus. He didn't really want to, but I think spending the extra 30$ was a good idea.
I'm helping my nephew with a little upgrade for his computer. I believe he really needs an external graphic card. The problem is, he only has about 100$ to spend. (He's 14)
Mostly it's used for Diablo 3 and one of the DOTA games. Otherwise it's used for videos, classwork, and I'm sure some...
I've had the same problem in the past on my Maximus IV. I ended up using a DVD to complete my install. I actually ended up thinking I had a corrupt file on the usb stick. I never considered that my front ports are all USB3. Would have saved me several hours of frustration if I knew this before...
Today at work I've been cleaning our equipment storage room. Well I came across this interesting little Cisco box.
It's a Cisco 1030 Wireless lan controller. It has a Epia Mini-itx motherboard with a 1.0ghz VIA C3 processor.
Its dimensions are H: 2.5" W: 8" D: 10.3". I believe this will make...
I have a very similar setup. A 6970 with a 2560x1600 monitor connected via dual link dvi, and a receiver connected via hdmi.
Try getting into windows without the hdmi connected. Once your loaded, plug in the receiver's hdmi cable. Open Catalyst control center and make sure that it recognizes...
Well, the noise is coming from the computer. I connected the xbox via HDMI to the same port the computer is using and the noise was gone. I also tested by plugging my phone's hdmi up to it, once again noise free.
And to verify I'm using the AMD high definition audio device when connected to...
Ok so to explain my setup, I'm using the HDMI port on the graphics card to connect the receiver (Pioneer vsx-521), another HDMI going from the receiver to the monitor.
The problem is that I hear a hiss from the speakers. The noise seems to be generated from the computer, if I unplug the HDMI...
These are probably going to be your best bet in that price range. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836121002
We use those at work for our portable AV cart. They are decent sounding and have enough volume for 25+ person presentations.
Any reason why the Dayton APA150 http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=300-812 isn't recommended more often? I've had mine for over a year, it's a beast. It will cleanly drive a good pair of bookshelves to their limits.
The only complaints would be it's a fair bit bigger...
It turns out this receiver has a mode called EXT.STEREO, it appears to do exactly what I'm wanting. It makes 2 channel audio play out of all speakers with some reasonable processing included to keep imaging fairly intact. Other wise I've just been keeping it on auto surround mode. That way all...
