I don't understand why 3440x1440 was chosen over 3840x1620. At 3840x1620, you can fit 2 x 1920 wide windows. 3840x1620 also gives you the 64:27 aspect ratio. You can still watch 2.39:1 movies with some slight letter boxing.
A 38" 3840x1620 monitor would also mean less vertical tilting than a...
Thanks for your input guys. Looks like I will be getting the BenQ EW2740L unless something new comes onto the market or the Samsung S27D590P drops in price by $100 or more in the next couple of weeks.
I am looking to get a 27" 1920x1080 monitor for my mum who's eyesight isn't as good as it used to be. She is not a gamer, so TN monitors are not necessary. I figured 1920x1080 would result in larger fonts when scaling is at 100%, putting less strain on her eyes.
I have narrowed my search...
That link is broken, at least for me it is.
I have thought about moving to a 27" 2560x1440 monitor, which will give me more vertical pixels. However, the PPI will be higher, making fonts smaller and thereby putting more strain on the eyes. I know DPI scaling exists in Windows 8, but from...
Does anyone know if there will be any new 16:10 monitors in 2014?
I was hoping for a 1920x1200 version of the Dell U2414H with thin bezel, but given the small number of 16:10 monitors dell have released in the past two years (U2413 in 2012 and U3014 in 2013), I am not hopeful.
I have noticed that a lot of people are using 27" 2560x1440 monitors in a multi-monitor setup. I would love to have a triple monitor setup, but I don't really need the two flank monitors to be widescreen. To save some deskspace and minimise neck movement, I think a setup consisting of:

I currently own a Dell 2407WFP 24" monitor and love the 16:10 aspect ratio. It's 3 years old and still serving me quite well. At some point in the future, when it breaks down, I will have to replace it. When that day comes, I am assuming 16:10 will be a thing of the past since panel...
Come Q1, 2011, if you don't need more than one video card, is there any reason to buy the Bloomfield I7 950 over the Sandy Bridge I7 2600?
I am guessing they will be pretty close in price, with the I7 2600 being slightly more expensive.
Do they still sell the Dell 2408WFP? That's a 16:10 S-PVA panel and IMO, would be a good compromise between TN and IPS monitors.
If Dell is not going to put pressure on LG to fix the tinting issues on the U2410 or source the IPS panel from another manufacturer, then I wish they would release...
In late August, Intel will be dropping the price of their I7 950 to $294. You would think that AMD will either drop the price of their 1090T by a small amount or release a new X6 processor. I hope AMD surprise us all and releases an X8 as an interim solution until Bulldozer arrives in Q2/Q3 2011.
It would seem that the U2410 is plagued by tint issues and getting one without these issues would depend purely on luck. Not wanting to take that chance, I am willing settle for a cheaper 24" 16:10 PVA monitor. Does anybody know if Dell will refresh their 2408WFP for 2010/2011?
I just noticed that Revision 2 of the following motherboards:
GA-P55A-UD4P, GA-P55A-UD4, GA-P55A-UD3P, GA-P55A-UD3R, GA-P55A-UD3
have been released:

Does anybody know...
