    Corsair Obsidian 550d?

Just going by the name in the quick start guide; I only used the HDD screws to attach my SSD. My hard drives fit in the brackets without any screws.

    Corsair Obsidian 550d?

It's confusing because the parts list only shows 5 types, but I received 7 bags: 1. motherboard standoffs 2. motherboard screws 3. psu screws 4. hdd/odd screws 5, 6. fan screws? (slightly different lengths, but same design) 7. ??? (very long with a short thread)

    Corsair Obsidian 550d?

Megahalems fits comfortably (158.7mm). I can check how much space is left when I'm home tonight. Edit: not enough for a 120mm. I would stay away from really tall tower coolers if you're looking to add fans on the side panel. If you do something like the H60 (or a tower cooler smaller than...

    Corsair Obsidian 550d?

Just wanted to follow up and confirm that when the system is running, my side panel doesn't affect noise in slightest. My 550D is very cool and very quiet -- and I'm picky enough about noise that I have a few Noiseblocker fans inside. The build was painless and, without much effort, my cabling...

    Corsair Obsidian 550d?

Quick question: are you supposed to remove the two strips of adhesive tape on either side of the case (at the bottom of the case, just below where the panels attach)? It looks like the strips are there for adjusting the fit with the side panes, but the adhesive isn't super-tight, so I wasn't...

Gainward Announces 3GB GeForce GTX 580 "Phantom"

Saw a link to the Gainward 3GB card at a European retailer, the price was a bit under 650 euros (the 1.5GB 580 was anywhere from 475-515, I think). I would be very surprised if the Palit card retails for over $650 USD.

Gainward Announces 3GB GeForce GTX 580 "Phantom"

Pretty huge news for anyone interested in GPU rendering via CUDA. Until now, the only way to get close to 3GB on a single GPU was by shelling out $$$ for a high-end Quadro.

    Dell U2311H

For what it's worth, although the image quality of your pictures makes it difficult (not to mention the process of taking pictures is going to introduce arbitrary color shifts anyway), the monitor on the right appears to have more "accurate" color out of the box. I'm looking at your images on a...

    Dell U2311H

Included cables (power, VGA, DVI, USB) seemed fine to me. If you're going to be using DVI then I wouldn't bother with anything else as it's just a digital signal. You'll want to order a DisplayPort cable if you plan on using that to hook up your U2311H, because a DP cable doesn't ship with the...

    Dell U2311H

Just received mine today -- Rev A00, manufactured July 2010. Both monitors are free of dead pixels and have no obvious tint or backlight bleed (though I'll have to wait until the evening to verify the backlight in a dark environment). One of the LCDs is a bit brighter than the other, but once I...

    Dell U2311H

Just ordered two of these ($508 w/tax). Had to place two separate orders because the Dell Chat rep couldn't figure out how to adjust the coupon for both... luckily, free shipping means the two orders cost exactly the same as one. Thanks for the heads up and to everyone else for their reviews and...

    BFGTech Exits Graphics

Crazy stuff; just picked up a BFG GTX 260 two months ago (needed a Nvidia card for specific reasons and couldn't wait for Fermi). Sorry to see them go, but it's good to hear that warranty/customer service support will continue -- definitely a classy move. And I knew they were based in Chicago...

    i5-750 stock vcore overclocking

Were you referring to my post? It looks like technically anything over 1.1v for VCC isn't "stock", though anything under 1.2v is a pretty minimal increase. As for VTT, I still don't really understand it; I just left it at the default (1.1v) but I suppose it may need a bump as well if things...

    i5-750 stock vcore overclocking

I have mine at 3.6 ghz (180x20) with vcore set to 1.1875v, or whatever the exact number is in the BIOS. LLC is off and max voltage as reported in Windows is slightly lower at 1.15v. I haven't had time to run the full suite of stress tests so I may need to bump the vcore slightly higher, but...

Push/pull fans create funcky buzz noise.

Have not personally experienced this, but I don't run push/pull. Someone over @ overclock.net had the same problem with the Mega and 2 NB fans... he apparently solved it by permanently mounting the fans a few cm from the fins...
