What option in the bios would increase the voltage as you suggest?

    chkdsk after overclock

NOTE: Message edited to reflect a better reading of Events: After running my 3770K on an Asus P8 Z77-V Pro for about a year, I decided to bump the speed up to 4.4GHz via the mulitplier. Things seemed to settle in nicely at 1.224 volts (max observed using -.020 offset), temps never went above...

ASUS P8Z77-V PRO and usb 3.0

    Which usb 3.0 ports are powered by ASMedia? The specs say ASMedia® USB 3.0 controller : *7 4 x USB 3.0 port(s) (2 at back panel, blue, 2 at mid-board) Intel® Z77 chipset : *7 4 x USB 3.0 port(s) (2 at back panel, blue, 2 at mid-board) Intel® Z77 chipset : But I've apparently overlooked the...

    Overclocked, no idle

Well this turns out to be operator error -- no surprise there. One of the first things I did when configuring Win7 (before I ever messed with the BIOS) was to choose the High Performance power config which apparently does not allow any OS de-clocking of the processor. I thought I was seeing...

    Overclocked, no idle

OK, I loaded the optimized defaults (F5) and my idle state returned. RAM timings were wrong so I went back into the BIOS and made only one change -- loaded the XMP profile. Idle state went away. Bleh. Maybe I can just set the timing manually and keep my idle state... not sure I can overclock...

    Overclocked, no idle

New 3770K owner here. I've settled in to a decent, stable 4.4GHz overclock @ 1.216 volts on an Asus P8 Z77V Pro. The curious thing is that I seem to have lost idle capability, i.e., the processor speed remains at 4.4 at both idle and full load; voltage is constant as well. All I changed in...

Buying a CRT - need advice on specific models

There was a reference (earlier in this thread?) about a down-loadable service manual. I think there are two holes in the case that allow you to access the on-chassis focus adjustments. It seems like many of these units are not so hot out of the box, but they respond well to tweaking. RE the...

Buying a CRT - need advice on specific models

So, do you have any more of those back in the corner? Can we buy them directly from NEC? I'm sure I purchased my wife's monitor from them direct.

    What Happened To Crt?!?!

I started this thread a few weeks ago. I gave up trying to find a CRT a bit too soon. :(

Look at my heat sink and fan!!

That's exactly backwards. If your FILTERED air flow IN is greater than your exhaust OUT, then you end up with a slightly pressurized case which should keep dust from being sucked in through every nook and cranny—as it would if the reverse were true. Was the side mount fan on your dad's case...

    Bus Lock?

Is the function that keeps the PCI and SATA buses within spec when increasing the FSB built into the chipset or is it a feature supplied by the mobo maker? I have a Tyan K8E with the nV4 chipset and an Athlon X2 4400+. I realize that the mobo and the CPU are not the best OC tandem, but I'm just...

Out of curiosity, I emailed the vendor and asked about the monitor. Here is the reply: Dear H, Thank you for your inquiry with Ajump.com. The Iiyama Vision Master Pro 514 22" Color Monitor (P/N 7290032) is sold as a new unit. The warranty period is 3-years with the manufacturer. You...

    Iiyama 22" CRT still available

Iiyama's have always had good bandwidth in my experience (they used to advertise their lofty refresh rates as a selling point); their build quality was also good. My 19 incher was well made and lasted nearly 8 years with frequent use. The display just recently started to shrink in about an...
