I just want to understand how all this works together. If I buy a board with 3 M.2 slots I want to make sure once I populate at least 2 of the PCIe slots that the M.2's will run as expected.

I don't have any plans on buying that Mobo. I thought this might be a relatable configuration and I could use it in order to help me understand what I've asked in my previous questions and examples.

I built my rig with the sole purpose of running a few specific programs. It's still doing what it's supposed to do and has the power to accomplish what I ask of it. It is a Ryzen 7 3700X with 64gb of memory, an Nvme and 2 SSDs. The AM4 mobo's BIOS can be flashed to accept a Ryzen 9 5900XT...

Thanks for all the suggestions! My Lightroom usage is not that intensive. And now that I've gotten away from shooting RAW format it will probably becoming non-existent. I'm mostly looking for robust, decent price and something that will take me into the future re drivers and support.

Unfortunately... no. I've also played with the idea of finding some paper thin non-conductive sheet that could be inserted between them. There is really no heat generated by the extension cards. I'm also going to have a problem when I finally upgrade to a new Mobo. It's not too easy to find...
