I agree. Thank God I don't have the money to buy a new monitor. I am currently using an 8 Year Old 17" KDS Trinitron with a 75hz refresh rate @1024X768...
That was a bit of Sarcasm there. I can play anything on the market right now @ 1024X768 with my current rig smoothly ;) . I thought the idea of paying 7 grand on a system with 4 7900's was pretty sick. You could get a pretty good hooker for that amount of dough or make a couple of house...

I guess my current solution of ( 1 BFG 7800 GS OC) is considered stone-age by these standards. I can't compete with 4 7900 GTX's. I guess if you don't have $2,000.00 for quad SLI these days your out of Luck if you...
My Freind,
Please do not say AGP = DEAD
I would prefer you say AGP = Mature (Over 50% of systems out there still have AGP).
My 478 socket Northwood on the 875 chipset and AGP BFG 7800 GS OC handles everything I throw at it very, very nicely: BF2, HL2, Doom3..etc.
I assume this AGP...
To be fair I should Mention that I have my BFG 7800 GS running at (485/139) vs the stock (400/125) which does give it a considerable boost. No doubt it would be nice to have a new 7800 GTX or 7900 GTX or even an ATI X1900 but since I am a loyal Intel man si I would have had to upgrade...
I guess this is only reason I questioned it is becuase I am playing all the current games, with plenty of eye candy @ 1024 X 768 and have no performance issues whatsoever on my current rig. And this is coming from a crappy APG card which is supposedly 10 times worse than a 7900 GTX and 5 times...
Seriously..Looking over all these posts I notice people talking about SLI 7800 GTX's and $500.00 - $1,000 dual core processors.. I mean wow, what is the secret to affording all of this...Is there an undergound to join to get this stuff on the cheap or what? So yo! Check it out. I have been...
Really? The lowest prices I could find for brand new AGP's X850XT PE were on Ebay for around $280-$350. Now you could probably snag a used one for around $200.00 or a new one that isn't in its original box (don't understand how that is new) but I wouldn't trust any brand new X850 XT PE card...
It's funny to hear debates about what is better when talking about similair cards because I used to be the same way. What are we talking about here 5 to 7 FPS difference? Hah! Just go with what's cheaper. Bottom line: You will be able to play the games you want to play at high settings with...
Actually...I just moved from a 9700 prog AGP to a BFG 7800 GS. I love this Card and am extremely glad I only paid $275.00 Vs $900 for doing a full blown Intel PCI-Express upgrade. The thing about the BFG 7800 GS is that it is very clockable. Out of the box it is 400mhz core and I am running...
I don't know either...Probably cuz I haven't been looking at processors since I bought my Northwood two years ago... I thought a Pentium D was a Pentium D....But now I see there are 800 series and 900 series... So is the 800 series just an older version of the Pentium D or is it like a value...
Edit...However the price on the BFG 7800 GS OC keeps falling and falling on Ebay. Two weeks ago they were around $320....and now they are creeping towards the mid $200.00's

AMD 4200 X-2 @2.2 GHZ

-or-

Pentium D 830 smithfield @3.0

Besides the fact that the AMD is about $50 more expensive? Performance wise is there a big difference?

Thanks
