Quad SLI..

Anyone with a single 6600GT or better is fine for playing games. Quad-SLI setups like this are simply curiousities for people with more money than brains!

I'm expecting those cards for GTX's to top 1,200-1,300 each

WHOLE Fing CHRIST

Alienware® ALX System Power Cable [+$48 or $2/mo.]
Alienware® ALX Network Cable [+$22 or $1/mo.]

$48 for a power cable? $22 for a ethernet cable? My god, that should be illegal.

Why, what games can't you play with your 7800?

That was a bit of Sarcasm there. I can play anything on the market right now @ 1024X768 with my current rig smoothly ;) . I thought the idea of paying 7 grand on a system with 4 7900's was pretty sick. You could get a pretty good hooker for that amount of dough or make a couple of house payments and feed the kids..or do what you do :D

God i hope your being sarcastic... its not like those cables provide any advantage over normal power cables, or CAT5

I'll venture to say that was the purpose of HotKey's post. ;)

That's all a matter of personal preference. I used to have a single 6600GT and playing SC:CT with SM3 and things such as Soft Shadows enabled would bring it to it's knees. I then went for 6600GT SLI. It was much faster, but I was still limited to 1024x768 with the eye candy goodies enabled. Sold both of those and got a 7800GT. And then another. Now with 2 7800GT's, I can pretty much play any game at any graphical setting at 1280x1024 or lower. I can play some games at 1600x1200 (monitor max), but the framerates can suffer depending on the game and settings. Two 7800GT's running games at 1280x1024 is fine for me, but for others (especially those with larger monitors such as the Dell 2405FPW) it might not be powerful enough.

I bet the powercable is the cable that came with the PSU.

Yes but they put a warranty on it! That's definitely worth the extra cost right there! lollers

Agreed, for the most part. My point was put in a rather extreme fahion to emphasise it, and I'd consider the card a minimum acceptable one only. I personally use a pair of them in SLI, and find that configuration adequate enough for smooth operation at 1280x1024, which is the native resolution of my monitor. (I don't get enough time for gaming to warrant the expense of a better card which would enable the smooth framerates with graphics features at higher settings.

But you've hit on the major determining factor, and that's monitor capability. By and large it's monitor capability which makes cutting edge display cards worthwhile. For a lot of people the purchase of a 'better' display card won't give them any meaningful performance improvement because their monitor is simply not capable of reproducing the image quality settings and resolutions at which more capable cards show their true advantage.

I agree. Thank God I don't have the money to buy a new monitor. I am currently using an 8 Year Old 17" KDS Trinitron with a 75hz refresh rate @1024X768...
