Today, out of the blue, my brother's computer suddenly stopped working. He was just playing cs and those cartoon network games the whole day(hey he's seven), and then he turned it off to do his homework. When he turned it back on, the monitor recieves no signal and I hear no post. The keyboard...

Will a computer still post/boot even with a defected hard drive connected to the motherboard?
well, I installed the ram and vid card into my current computer. No problems. So i'm pretty sure it's the cpu/motherboard... i'll be returning those 2
edit: btw, i DID ground myself properly right? I touched the psu periodically
by heatsink compound do you mean thermal paste? cause that already came with my heatsink when I got it
looks like i'll have to return it and get a repair at newegg =/, hope the replacement doesn't yield the same results

My computer parts finally arrived from neweggs. I installed/plugged in everything, and when I press the power button all the fans start up and I think I even hear the hard drive clicking, but there was nothing on the monitor and it didn't...
Neweggs just shipped the case for my new computer. I'm still trying to figure out wtf these things are lol

is there anything else? i just ordered a bunch of parts from neweggs, and this will be my second time trying to build a new computer. The first time, i assembled everything and it wouldn't boot :(. Never did find out what was the problem before returning it to Fry's... So I'm pretty nervous this...
what do you guys think of the soltek nforce3 250 board? I just ordered it for my new computer
it's 99$ and it seems to have all the feature the more expensive nforce3 boards have, so i hope it doesn't suck
Which brand of 6800 NU should I get? I am going to buy a new system. Are there any advantages of a certain brand?
