I'm building a 2TB rig myself, I'm opting to go with the Stacker, not that I'm bashing TT or anything but I have 2 Xasers and I'm just about fed up with them
I used extreme PSU calculator v1.3 and calculated the total wattage I would need
then, using Howard' [on Anandtech] formula came up with the amperage
so I do this, extreme psu calculator gives me a total of 945 watts
90% of that is 850.5 watts
divided by 12 is 70.875 amps
I dont...
I'm thinking of building a case where the hardrives are mounted vertically but I'm not sure if that would be safe on the harddrives...anyone know if it's an issue or not?
well here's what I'm considering
DFI LANPARTY UT NF4 SLI-DR EXPERT
AMD ATHLON64 X2 4800+
COOLERMASTER STACKER STC-T01-UWK [BLACK NO P/S]
OCZ DDR PC-4000 GOLD GX XTC 2GB DUAL CHANNEL
4 x MAXTOR MAXLINE PLUS IV 500GB SATA2 16MB NCQ
2 x WESTERN DIGITAL RAPTOR 74GB SATA 4.5MS
2 x EVGA...
looks like most of you are leaning toward the DFI, and after talking with some friends so am I
in that case, does anyone have suggestions for solving the chipset cooler issue?
My buddy came running to me a few days ago complaining about his video card.
Sure the 9800 is AGE OLD like I keep telling him, but he's stuck with a SocketA rig for now since he has no money.
His problem is that his car is hitting temps of around 110F. I told him to try and clean some dust...
how much extra power would this take?
I ran the Juice calculator a few days ago to figure out how much power I'd need for a new rig. With the following
Athlon 64 x2 4800+
2x 1gb OCZ DDR PC-4000 GOLD GX XTC
8 Maxtor 500GB SATA2
2x EVGA 7900GT CO SUPERCLOCK
6x 120mm fans
about 6 usb...
I cant decide between the two for my new rig.
The DFI looks good to me since it has the option of 4 SATA2 and 4 SATA drives.
On the downside, I've heard some bad things about the chipset cooler.
I like the ASUS since its a fanless board, but it lacks the 4 extra SATA slots.
Any opinions?
