Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4

Deleted after 10 minutes. Same hyper bunny hopping spray and pray bullshit as every other CoD game released in the last 10 years. How do people not get bored of this shit being regurgitated year in year out.

It is a good bit faster than MW19 and MW2 (2022). I liked those games for their faults, it seems like MW19 really tried to advance the series a bit. But CoD players did not like it and wanted it to be more fast paced and cartoon like. I think the map design in this is a bit lame, I preferred MW19 and MW22. Those at least felt like real places for the most part. Not as fast as MW3 but still too much for my taste. With BF6 I don't see the point for this one.

Its more or less the same game released every year with marginal differences only discernable to regular players. More power to people who like paying for annual releases, but I have too many other better games in backlog to keep me busy.

The actual movement and shooting is a good bit different in MW19 and MWII/2022. It is quite a bit slower. Slow movement and crouching is quite important, and shooting at range is. Especially if you play the hardcore modes. In some ways the movement and shooting was more realistic than some realistic games that exaggerate recoil or have odd movement on steps. But it still had some sliding and whatnot. The other CoD games are notably faster paced and have much more emphasis on jumping/bunny hopping. But that is why those games were so divisive and IW seems to be trying to go back to a faster pace to appeal the typical gamer.

It is kind of a shame. Even most realistic games feel odd when shooting pistols, MW19/MWII 2022 are some of the few games that make it seem authentic. Was a bit disappointed with how BF6 orients the pistols. You could tell the IW devs wanted to make something better but were confined within their IP and need to sell millions upon millions of copies to the typical gamer.

Lucky for me, I'll skip this one. BF6 should stay alive for a long time. I'll look into Hell Let Loose Vietnam but the reception on that seems mixed.

Rage quit much?

he was always going to hate the game...he made up his mind as soon as the game was announced...he never plays games anywhere near release so I highly doubt he bought it...he only buys games when they're under $10 (Aus currency) or free Epic Store giveaways...there was a free demo this weekend so maybe he played that

After the flaming trash heaps of the last 2 games.... I'll wait and see what the full release looks like.

Modern Warfare 4 centers around a rapidly escalating global conflict on the Korean Peninsula, where a full-scale invasion of South Korea threatens to destabilize the world...Infinity Ward says the game will deliver a more grounded and authentic tone, with the story focused on political tension, covert operations, and international warfare

The campaign follows multiple perspectives throughout the conflict, including Private Park, a young Korean soldier thrust into combat for the first time...meanwhile, longtime franchise icon Captain Price returns in a very different role...rather than operating alongside Task Force 141, Price forms a rogue alliance and works outside official channels as the crisis spirals toward global war

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches October 23, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2

The Korean Peninsula setting actually has me interested. It feels like a good fit for the more grounded Modern Warfare style, and playing part of the campaign from a South Korean soldier’s perspective could be something genuinely different. Price going rogue also sounds promising if they give that storyline enough room to develop.

Looks pretty good actually, especially after the BlOps 7 bullshit.

You could play the entire first mission in the open beta. It was more of the traditional style, which was okay. Still has some of the shortcomings the CoD games have had for a long time. But much better than the MW3 (2023) and whatever the last game was called had, which were essentially multiplayer maps adapted to single player at the last minute.

Combatting Wallhacks with Server Culling | Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4

Valorant does this. It does make wall hacks less effective but it doesn't actually stop the cheating itself. It potentially just makes wall hacking cheaters harder to detect.
They have to send the enemy locations when they're close to the walls but not totally visible because of shadows and other reasons. If a cheater can see you a split second before you come into view that's still a big advantage. They also need send positions to hear footsteps when they're within a cerrtain distance, or when they shoot to hear gunshots etc.

Are you having major stuttering in the campaign? My campaign is stutter fest. I maxed out all my settings and am running RT though. Hit chapter 7.

I would say VRAM but if you have a 5090 I doubt it. Re-run the shader compile, it is often in the graphics menu.

"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Gets a Warm Steam Welcome With 90% Positive Reviews

by DrUsmanSaleem Today, 20:05 Discuss (8 Comments)
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is off to an unusually good start on Steam. The campaign early access went live for pre-order customers on October 16, and at the time of writing, 1,630 of the game's 1,812 Steam user reviews are positive, giving it a "Very Positive" score of 90%. Insider Gaming first spotted the trend when the game had around 900 reviews and a SteamDB rating of 81.15%, which already made it the best-received Call of Duty on Steam since 2015's Black Ops III. The review count has more than doubled since then, and the positive share has climbed to 85.78% at the time of writing. Of course, these are early days. The current reviews come from players who pre-ordered to play the campaign a week early, so they are probably the most enthusiastic part of the audience.

Still, the last few releases fared much worse by comparison. SteamDB rates Black Ops 7 at 38.71%, Black Ops 6 at 45.75%, Modern Warfare III at 48.19%, and Modern Warfare II at 47.10%, while Black Ops III still leads the modern games at 84.36%. SteamDB's formula pulls games with fewer reviews closer to 50%, so as more positive reviews come in, Modern Warfare 4 could leave Black Ops III in the rearview mirror fairly soon. Multiplayer and DMZ only arrive with the full launch on October 23, and the score could look quite different once the wider player base jumps in. PC players should also keep in mind that TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are mandatory to jump into the action."

Campaign is good but I have a lot of stuttering in cut scenes. I did reduce from extreme to ultra and it reduced in game stuttering. wtf is this crap.

I really like COD games but I played some pretty bad ones Modern Warfare the modern one was the last game I tried which was pretty decent untill hackers.

This is one of the worst games I have ever played. Most of the things are straight up not functional. Literally cannot progress the campaign due to functions not working and an instant death sequence that is unavoidable because the game decided you can't equip the mandatory equipment button to progress the campaign. Not really surprising since this is how most CoD campaigns are. Utter trash. Fuck Activision and fuck Infinity Ward. I am thankful I did not pay for this.

Easily the worst "game" I've played in the past year or two.

Not having any problems with campaign and the new patch improved in game performance a lot. I think the campaign is really well done and sufficiently high stakes. I am left with 6 / 16 missions to complete. It's also not short af like the previous MW campaigns.

I would pick it up for MP but pretty much sick of running and gunning. The last COD games that were fun were COD Ghosts and Cod AW.

I agree. The campaign so far is awesome.

Its only long because some of the missions are entirely broken. The amount of bullshit you need to do to make the game work or progress is pathetic. Found out you need to plug in a controller for some sections because PC keyboard controls don't work during certain segments. Half or more of the play time is dealing with bugs and nonsensical fixes. The actual gameplay is minimal. What is there is shit. Move too soon, instead death. Wait too long, instant death. Shoot someone too soon, instant death. Shoot someone with the wrong gun, instant death. The graphics look like utter shit to. Looks worse than MW19. The ray tracing looks beyond trash, and you can't use DLSS with it. You need to use their "filmic AA" which looks like dog shit. Even without ray tracing it looks like complete shit. This game frequently looks like something from 2010, but with blurry, grainy and noisy visuals. I frequently cannot even tell what the fuck is going on because of how blurry everything is. I'd say even CoD games from 2014 or so look better because at least they did not have the blurry, muddy look.

I'd give this a 0/10. I'd say they can shove it up their ass, but they'd probably like it. For those that hate woke girl boss politics, this is one of the worst offenders I've seen as well. The game has a bunch of laughable girl boss characters which can't be taken seriously. Not too far off from Horizon Zero Dawn, etc. but at least those games have some redeeming qualities.

You say you didn't pay for it, but somehow are playing it? Maybe your copy is broken by copy protection since others don't seem to be having problems?

Doubt it, I am using it on battle.net. But I suppose they have some new DRM that causes issues for everyone. Seems like there are issues with the textures even on PS5 because they stream them and it might not be fast enough for some users or they have connection problems. Or server problems. Sometimes it looks fine, other times textures don't load. Even ignoring the textures the game looks like shit.

No DLSS with ray tracing. With or without ray tracing, it looks like shit. Even when disabling the blur, it looks like shit. It is genuinely one of the ugliest games I've seen in a long time. Even when frame rates are 100+ visually it looks like a smear and looks like 30-40 frame rates. I played with far too many settings, AA, FSR, DLSS, ray tracing with no DLSS, etc. because I could not figure out what makes the game look so ugly.

Reminds me a lot of the MW2 2022 campaign where the graphics would look like shit, and you would fall through the map and was full of bugs. But the multiplayer worked fine. Some examples from MW2:

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (2022) Screenshot 2022.12.15 - 23.38.33.78.pngCall of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (2022) Screenshot 2022.12.15 - 23.46.32.85.pngCall of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (2022) Screenshot 2022.12.16 - 12.45.53.08.png

I did go back and finish it months later and if I recall it was largely fixed. No idea of MW4 will ever get the same treatment, but recent CoD campaigns tend to be utter shit in the first few months.

This is MW4. Ignore any potential texture issues as that might be server related. Look at how "noisy", grainy, and blurry everything looks:

sp26-cod Screenshot 2026.10.19 - 17.19.12.39.pngsp26-cod Screenshot 2026.10.19 - 17.20.34.07.pngsp26-cod Screenshot 2026.10.19 - 18.53.17.44.pngsp26-cod Screenshot 2026.10.19 - 17.00.29.98.png

That is with motion blur, depth of field, etc. disabled except for cut scenes. Look at how... bad the vehicle section is. At look at Mr Dunn's head and that blurriness on his hat. So many parts of the game look like this and it is so hard to see what the hell is going on.
