I heard they took them down someone said something is up on the Resident Evil forums on Steam. Reports on reddit fans are not spinning on cards using fan curve software .

This could burn up cards much scarier than Resident Evil if you ask me.

From NVIDIA GRD Article:

February 26th, 11am PT Update: We have discovered a bug in the Game Ready and Studio 595.59 WHQL drivers and have removed the downloads temporarily while our team investigates. For users that have already installed this driver, or are experiencing issues with fan control, please roll back to 591.86 WHQL.

NVIDIA app users can reinstall their previous driver by clicking the three dots in the Drivers tab.

Nvidia's driver summary looks like it was made by AI
Driver themselves also look like they were made by AI

I am human so I'll stick with 2024 drivers.

These are the drivers optimized for the new Resident Evil, so I'm going to be a rebel and stick with them.

Man their driver releases lately have been lackluster.

I dunno, 591.86 has been working great for me. I haven't had a lot of trouble with their drivers in general recently. That said I usually don't install them day 1, mostly out of laziness since I basically never play games on launch day (too much backlog) but ya.

Yeah not all of them are bad. I miss the good days where installing them was not an issue, but lately they’ve been hit or miss.

Maybe I've just been lucky, I can't recall any misses recently. Some time ago there was a crash bug with the Dead Space remake that I had to revert to an older driver for, but it was specific to that game and it was a fair bit ago. I'm trying to remember if I had any issues of note recently but the fact that I can't says nothing was that bad. This one was obviously a miss, as they pulled it. It would be nice for there to be no issues for sure, but I also don't feel like it really has been that big of a deal. Now maybe I've just been lucky and missed the bad versions (I don't always bother to upgrade) or not been bitten by the bugs.

I think part of the issue with bugs in these is just how complex they are. I mean the nVidia drivers are over 900MB these days. There's lots of reasons for that, including things like all the DLSS models and so on, but still it speaks to the massive complexity. Compare that to, say, a driver for a PERC 755 raid controller which is like 11MB, or the RME Fireface driver which is 14MB (and is complex as sound drivers go) and you get a sense of the scale of the complexity. When something is really complex, and is updated with new features a lot (which these are) bug are sadly going to happen, it is hard to keep them all out.

Doesn't make them less annoying though.

The first few releases for the 5000 series were trash. Black screen issues like crazy.

Lately, though, for the most part they've been okay.

I recall those being limited to certain monitor configurations, it wasn't a universal thing, which is both why it was hard for them to track down and why I didn't experience it because I happened to have one of the configurations that weren't affected.

Either way, I'm not encouraging people to run into the latest drivers right away if there's no need for them, but likewise I wouldn't be running 2024 drivers just because either.

and 69x Ludicrousframe Generation? when?
If your game supports MFG X4, just use Lossless Scaling at X20 to get a total of X80 fake frames. Nvidia's AI coding vibe slop can hack it! (Fades out to a blurry smear)

Lol.

Good info, I'll check if Minesweeper supports MFG 👍

I popped open Hwinfo just to see if this is hyperbole or situational, but it's legit. My GPU was only showing 1 fan, the other one was nowhere to be found. A glance inside my case and the other one was turned off, too. Yeah, not going to mess with this, even if these drivers are the ones with Resident Evil optimizations. Went back to the last set of drivers and my fans went back to normal.

Glad I'm never in a rush to install these.
Same. I only update when there's a new feature I want, or a driver for a game I'm going to play. I don't just update the instant a new driver is available, and I wait a few days to let others guinea pig for me :D.

They are also very rarely security fixes so there's not a compelling reason to install them quickly unless there's a reason, like new feature or game support. It is still a good idea to keep up to date in general, like don't be running something a year out of date just because you are too lazy/scared to update, but also don't worry about jumping on them, and nothing wrong with skipping a driver version.

If we were to use the Dell method for categorizing drivers, which I very much like, probably 80-90% of releases would be "Optional" as in they are improvements, but nothing major. Most of the rest would be "Important" in that they fix more prominent bugs or introduce non-trivial features. Then maybe once a year or less there'll be a "Critical" that fix a security issue or severe bug.

This last one was an "Optional" for sure. Support for a couple new games, which I'm sure run fine without it, they just optimize a bit for them, and some minor bug fixes. Nothing that would call for a day 1 install.

NVIDIA Releases GeForce 595.71 WHQL Game Ready Drivers
3/2

"Don't recommend upgrading, this driver introduces several regressions for RTX 40/50 series. R590 drivers have had dogshit quality overall, Nvidia hasn't been able to upkeep their usual standards of quality.

Early reports say that Blackwell GPUs currently have a bugged power curve and won't go above 0.975V (this reduces clock speeds making the cards slower) RE9 performance issues continue to occur and there are new problems with games such as Endfield not performing as intended

Avoid for now, stick to an R580 release for the time being.

Thanks for the headache Jensen"

I don't think 591.86 has this voltage issue, at least for me it doesn't. GPU hits 1.07 V under load.

I just about guarantee they pushed these things out the door as quickly as possible to replace the 595.59s. Any non-fan issues those had are still present in these. I bet we get a "real" new driver in a few weeks. Likely with its own set of new issues.

I don't have a 50 series, but ya my 4090 doesn't have voltage issues with 591.86.

NVIDIA GeForce v595.71 Drivers Reportedly Restricts Voltage on RTX 50 Series GPUs

by AleksandarK Today, 06:12 Discuss (2 Comments)
NVIDIA released its GeForce 595.71 WHQL Game Ready Drivers yesterday to address issues with the previous 595.59 WHQL version. However, troubles don't seem to be over yet, as reports are coming from multiple users running the latest driver that the new installation is restricting GPU voltages across the RTX 50 series of "Blackwell" graphics cards. As multiple reports point out, the v595.71 driver is causing users to see a significant performance drop across multiple titles, all stemming from the capped GPU core voltage that is reducing the frequency. Wccftech testing has confirmed that the MSI GeForce RTX 5090 SUPRIM X used to run at a 1.020-1.030 V range, resulting in about 3,015-3,030 MHz in FurMark stress-testing using the older v591.86 driver with a manual overclock applied.

However, without a change in settings, the GPU now runs at a lowered voltage range between 1.005 V and 1.010 V, with occasional drops to 1.0 V. This has resulted in boost frequencies that are below 3,000 MHz, degrading the GPU performance while also lowering power usage. The reasoning behind this might be that NVIDIA is experimenting with lower voltage caps to limit what the GPU is capable of boosting to, so it can draw less power and prevent the fragile nature of the 12V-2x6 connector from overheating. Yesterday's launch of the GeForce 595.71 WHQL Game Ready Driver mentioned that the previous driver issues were resolved, which included fans not spinning or not being detected at all. However, with the new driver release, we didn't receive any information about intentional or unintentional voltage regulation happening within the driver. Hence, we are left to wait for the official ..”

I think I'll just stay on my "outdated" driver for now.

581.42 seems to be the last driver that has the massive RE: Requiem performance boost (for whatever reason) so I'm rolling with those.

Sooooooooooo, I in a drunken stupor apparently, upgraded nvidia drivers and was rewarded with the monitor saying nothing to display with the 9800x3d 5080 box. Had to kick back to the 7800x3d box......... unhappiness ensues

Member when Nvidia had the better drivers? JHC
