Borderlands 4

OK game is running like a champ now. Past first area I am sometimes even around 190-200 fps. Mostly around 120-150 fps in the norm. Got some decent gear and am able to hold my own. Tons of enemies and the map is HUGE!
Enjoying it thus far. Don't even know wtf I am doing just going around killing stuff, dying and then going in a completely different direction. My ADD is going to run wild in this game.

All my free time is disappearing to this. It's Borderlands! :D
My backlog is big enough (and the Dune free weekend also) so I'm waiting a patch or two. But it really looks like a bit of 'return to form'. Almost can't wait!

One thing that I do is Stalker 2 now is use frame generation with smooth motion at the same time, giving me over 200fps with no downside from what I can see, of course each game is different.
The input lag with this is bonkers. I tried it and it's ridiculously bad with Smooth Motion on. Just FG 4x seems to be enough.

Keeps crashing at random places with my rig, everything updated, my rig isn't the problem, very buggy game atm.

4080S (PC2 in sig) - 4k, Badass settings, DLSS Balanced, 2x frame gen, 80fps stable. No stutters, hitches or crashes so far.
Lol so 40 fps base framerate at 1253p in a damn cartoon looking game and you think that is impressive?

It runs smooth and plays well. You can cry over numbers all you like but as long as it looks and plays well when all is said and done that's all I care about. I've got more important things to do than throw tantrums over what is happening under the hood if the end result is a smooth, good looking experience... Where did I say anything about it being impressive? I stated the facts while you're getting all emotional.

I was just getting the impression you thought that performance was good. Nothing personal and more of a complaint about the game performance itself and the settings people are having to use. It is ridiculous for how the game looks.

Funny a while back many people including some game devs where acting like DLSS was not going to be used as a crutch. Well of course it did become one and now we are the point where frame gen has to be used as one too.

Nearly everyone has lowered their standards as 60 fps was considered the minimum needed before using frame gen yet this game has shown that people are happy with laggy 30-40 fps base framerates.

I Am not happy with 30 or 40 and im also not happy that performace is awful on one of the fastest card available and im not happy with DLSS stuff to have to make up for all the badness. I refuse to use non native.

If you don't use a wired mouse and keyboard, input lag can be a big problem, I just happen to still use wired stuff.
Same, I tried thinking about wireless. Checked a lot of options but kept coming back to wired. I also don’t carry my keyboard and mouse in my pocket so don’t see the need for wireless as it sits on my desk forever… 👀

Unfortunately you have a couple things not in your favor, one is the game is poorly optimized and two you're playing at a tough resolution. Love it or hate it DLSS and FG has become the norm, even more so for 4k gamers, I use DLSS quality and it looks great, try turning it on and see how you like it, worst case just turn it off.

I used several wireless mice in the past, Logitech, Razer and none felt right. I got a wired Razer Death Adder V3 and it been smooth sailing, a wired mouse is always going to be the best for performance and precision, plus no batteries or having to charge it.

It's not the early 2000s anymore. Wireless has come a long way. Logitech and Razer wireless gaming mice (and probably others, I don't follow the mouse market) have hardly any additional lag and are used by a number of professional FPS players. I guarantee that you'd fail to pick between wired and wireless in a blind test.

As I get deeper into the game I'm routinely seeing frame rates down in the 90s with FG enabled. No amount of wires can fix that kind of input lag.

I've had issues with input lag before, possibly due to my router being in the same room so I can hardwire my PC, also I got sick of all the different charging cables (on top of all the other cables I had) and batteries. I plug the wired mouse in and forget it, I don't even know the wire is there, just a matter of preference.

Input lag with what, FG?

I use both wired, it's still really bad compared to FG alone.

It's possible because you're using MFG 4X maybe, so stacking smooth motion on top of that may be causing things to be bonkers, I'm just guessing because I don't know what your exact settings are. I can only use FG 2X, so maybe using smooth motion with FG 2X doesn't present the same issues as you're experience.

Yes, I am forcing that in nVidia control panel so you may be right.

Is the siren character a tranny? How annoying is the DEI engineer chick?

I've been using Rafa the Exo Soldier. I personally have not run head long into something ridiculous. I can't guarantee you it isn't there but so far so good. You probably would have to go on youtube or something to gauge some of that.

Overall the game is a blast. I didn't realize how much I had that Borderlands itch that needed to be scratched until I fired this up.

Performance issues: This game is not "the new Crysis." There are some legit performance issues that others in this thread have well documented. It's workable but updated GPU drivers and patches from Gearbox should help and should be coming in the near future.

Walmart had one copy of BL4 for PS5 might have sold out earlier or just short supply. Kirby is out on Switch 2 I need to check that game out.

Can't wait to play this on my Tues Wed. Off gaming on my work days big no no due to eyestrain at work.

Performance problems officially solved, just play at a lower resolution

The solution was right in front of us the whole time
If you're talking about dropping it down from 4k to 1440P than I would agree, or invest in a 1440P monitor over the holidays. 4K sounds great and all, but in practice with more demanding games it's becomes a pain in the ass, it's best off leaving it for watching movies.

Ok ...I'll go into my crawlspace and dust off my old 17 inch crt monitor with a 540p resolution, that should make this run smooth.
The perfect setup for Borderlands 4 😂

I'm still having 0 performance issues on my setup, so playing it is enjoyable enough. 4K, everything cranked, DLSS quality and framegen on. At the same time, the art style is doing the game no favors. Enemies just kinda look like blobs until you get right on top of them. The engine is pushing a zillion polygons only to have everything stylized into looking like there are only a handful. From a technical standpoint it's a step up from Borderlands 3, but from a stylistic standpoint I like 3 more. Humor-wise, it's also not quite sure what it wants to be. I dunno. I'm not far enough to truly judge it, but I'm not loving it so far.

You rubes, optimization for peak performance is super duper simple. You just have to follow the officially released guidelines and bam, instant amazing gameplay. These guidelines are extremely easy to follow and not confusing or contradictory in any way :

LOL this game has terrible optimization and crap performance unless you lower the resolution and also use frame gen.

Can this be fixed or made better with patches to this game?

What are you getting for frames?
Per the in-game FPS display it ranges from the mid 90's all the way up to 116. Most of the time it's around 104-105. I have Gsync set to cap out at 118 and the in-game FPS cap set at 120, but the game never seems to go over 116.

Is it just me or I am dying a lot in this game. Wtf.

It's pretty tough. Granted, I haven't been playing many shooters lately, but I don't remember dying all that much much in Borderlands 3. Even normal enemies seem to hurt me way more than I'm hurting them.

I died in the first area like 5 times I was ducking not realizing my smg doesn't work from the distance. I did choose Normal for the campaign there is a easy setting and hard.

Are the DLSS and frame gen setting options in the game settings, or in nVidia Control Panel?
