I am looking for a 55 inch TV best suited for watching online streaming channels and games. Few things into mind.
1. The picture quality should be really amazing so that it looks as much realistic and possible
2. Amazing vibrant color
3. I would prefer Dolby Vision, but HDR 10 is fine too
4. Refresh rate preferably 144Hz but I am ok with 120.
5. I don't need good inbuilt speakers because I will be connecting the TV with Sonos Era 100 stereo pair.

Talking about budget, my preference is $800 to $1000. Worst case scenario I can spend $1500 for Sony Bravia 7

Samsung S95F and LG G5 are the best TVs, just released. I'm using a 55" S95F and it's amazing HDR at 165 Hz.

The G series (or s95f) will be overbudget (my preference is $800 to $1000. Worst case scenario I can spend $1500 for Sony Bravia 7), the B series suggested above (or C if he want to push that $1500 limit) are more inline from LG.

Is 120Hz refresh rate in TVs impractical? Do I really need 120Hz? Does the latest version of PS5 supports 120hz refresh rate?

How is LG QNED series? Those are the one that seems to have all the features of Sony Bravia 7 and costs half the price?

Just placed an order for the S95F :). Was originally gonna get the G5 but since the S95F price dropped to $2100 making it $400 less than a G5 it was a no brainer.

cool story, its twice the price op wants to spend...

Whoops I also missed the budget cap LOL should've kept reading. Anyway if OP can stretch the budget to $1500 for a Bravia 7 WOLED then perhaps the S90F for $100 more is worth considering? We're entering 60% above max original budget but TVs are not something you upgrade very often so I wouldn't recommend a WOLED for a long term buy. A discounted S90D would also probably still be cheaper than a Bravia 7.

EDIT: Saw the Bravia 7 is a mini LED but kind of lower end. Probably still recommend a QD OLED over an entry mini LED.

Maybe I should have posted in my original thread. I am looking for a TV best suited to enjoy movies and console gaming. What all features do I need in a TV to have best experience of both. I don't have unlimited budget. My room is small so size is the limitation, 55 inch.

Edit: I was a PC gamer, but with that community reducing day by day, and the fact that PC gaming is dying, I switched to console gaming. I still like PC gaming, but cannot afford a high end gaming rig

I would say it needs to have a very accurate Filmmaker Mode for watching movies while preserving the creative intent and also needs to have "Variable Refresh Rate" for console gaming as the latest consoles do support VRR now and supposedly the Switch 2 will also. Sony TVs tend to be very pricey relative to the competition and while they are excellent sets, I don't think they are worth the huge price premium over other brands. I think the biggest decider here is what kind of lighting conditions you will be using your TV under, if it's a dark room then OLED but if it's a bright room then mini LED is probably best since no budget OLED is going to do well in a bright room.

i always hit up rtings.com first, see what they say, then go from there
Yes I did my homework before starting this thread. Searched for top 5 best 55 inch TVs for video streaming and gaming in YouTube. But that opinion is different from user opinion here. User opinion based on the experience is most valuable for me

Not sure how good the data is on this, and it could just be because the Chinesse market is way more PC oriented than Japanese consoles oriented than the average one, but it is a bit of the reverse, PC seem like on its way to match the consoles eventually

But that opinion is different from user opinion here.

Large flatscreen TV is a very competitive market (i.e. you tend to get what you pay for fairly well and there is no bad product around), lot of piece are shared among brands, TCL, HiSense or the Sony/LG/Samsung all make excellent tvs, well segmented price wise, if you have a real HDMI 2.1 connector (newest TV in your price range will all have that) you will be fine for the PS5, what is currently in rebate when you buy will be an important variable, light control in your room as well. But specially if you come from zero tv, anything from 2024-2025 at $800-1000 will look great.

If you have very basic smarttv need, any OS will do, either from the TV itself or a very cheap google-amazon device that can be purchased at any time and extremely easy to setup.

The average message board users will not have tested-seen by themselve that many of the 2024-2025 models versus the youtube reviewer or RTings, not sure our opinions should be more valuable at all outside very specific use case not covered in reviews, you seem to have the most common and most covered use case that exist, making mainstream reviews perfect to go with.

Thats a good news for me. Maybe in 7-8 months I might have a gaming rig, with 30 inch 4K display and the GPU to support it. Console game has an inferior hardware compared to PC, I literally hated to even think about Console Gaming. But after seeming my friends who are enjoying console gaming, and the fact that GTA 5 isn't released for the PC yet, made me jump into Console.
