How about you’re not the thought police and I’m allowed to discuss whatever I want to discuss in whatever way I want to discuss it? If you don’t like what I have to say, don’t respond to my comments. I love the first game, and I am, in fact, discussing the game itself and the direction that’s been taken with it by the story. It’s very much at the center of this game as it was originally supposed to be a continuation of Jin’s story, but that direction was changed halfway through development.

Yes, games should be about fun. But maybe some of us are just tired. Tired of being told by gaming companies, and big media as a whole, that we're inherently part of the problem. That somehow, because of the color of our skin, we're the enemy. We live in clown world. Opposite world. Where the dreams of Martin Luther King, Jr. are being shat on. And now, instead of black people being at the center of hatred, it's white people. Ibram X Kendi, the most racist "anti-racist" on the face of the earth, says, "The only remedy to past discrimination is present discrimination." This is absolutely psychotic thinking. It’s exhausting to feel like we’re being written off, especially in a space that’s supposed to be about escapism and connection. Even though I’m mixed race, with Hispanic roots, the world still sees a pasty white guy. It’s not that I’m against inclusion or progress. I just don’t want to be erased or vilified for existing. And it's happening in every single facet of media, education, the workplace, etc. We come to games to escape, not to be reminded we don’t belong. This reverse racism is disgusting, and anyone championing this movement is a complete, deluded moron.

I only recall reading complaints about how she was too thin and needed to be fatter. A lot of the complaints by the SJW types were that she did not have a middle aged body that more closely resembles that of the average American. Which was a bit odd because she is an authentic character and isn't American. I even recall an article did a mock up of how she should have looked in the authors view, which was 30 or so pounds extra.

She literally climbs cliffs and mountains, crawls through caves, battles animals, fights a constant slew of enemies, fights dinosaurs, battles supernatural beings, and survives in the wilderness. She's not going to look like your average middle-aged woman. Even if we take away the fact that it's a video game and none of that is relevant anyway, their logic can't be applied trying to make her seem "realistic" because "realistically" she wouldn't look that way.
 
Personally I thought Laura Croft looked fine in the latest trilogy, but I am betting they give her the physique and facial structure of a stocky transgender man in any future games.

Yeah, there’s nothing wrong with her appearance in the last few games. She looks like a dude in the concept art guy for the new game.

That may be the case. They already made her uglier with the redesign in Rise/Shadow. Never understood why they redesigned her partway through a trilogy. The original model looked like the actual actress.

it's the first you heard of it because it came out of some dummy's mouth citing an opaque, anonymous source, because of course it was

you really think they were half way though development when they suddenly upended the entire plot, trashed their mocap, voice acting, handful of assets, etc.? the game takes place hundreds of years later.

... or they just wanted to make a successor and not a direct sequel.

You found it. Thanks. If this is actually true, it is astronomically stupid. It's kind of like what's happening with The Joker 2 movie. The original made over a billion dollars, and instead of expanding upon the original that made it so popular, they turned it into a weird musical that nobody asked for while the director calls the fanbase toxic. It's flopping hard in the theater.

The core problem is that CDPR is overly reactive to hack journalists and shit stain activists, whereas they would be better off ignoring the noise, shutting the fuck up and focusing on making games that cater to their actual audience rather than a mythical 'modern audience' which does not exist. This approach is working pretty well for all the Eastern based developers who don't give two fucks about opinions coming from Kotaku, Polygon, etc.

Ghost of Tsushima had 'Kurosawa Mode' which was a homage to the great Akira Kurosawa, director of some of samurai cinema’s best films, like Seven Samurai and Yojimbo and it’ll return in Ghost of Yōtei...it features a black and white presentation, film grain, and Japanese dialogue with lip syncing

there will also be a new presentation style, 'Miike Mode', which will pay homage to director Takashi Miike, who famously directed 13 Assassins...it puts the camera closer to the action and features more blood and mud during fights...another new style will be 'Watanabe Mode', which was inspired by and created in partnership with Shinichirō Watanabe, the famous anime director behind Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo
