Diablo IV - The Real Official Thread

Didn't play for 2 days to restore arm strength. Will try to finish this repetitive af crap over the weekend.

I played Barrage rogue and struggled on harder bosses.
Swapped to Penetrating Shot with Poison Imbuement and everything just melts! And it's actually more fun to play.
I completed T3 capstone dungeon rather easy at lvl 60 (only died to Elias 4-5 times) and got into T4 doing 21-22 Nightmare dungeons as lvl 62. Enemies do a ton of damage but so do I and I'm a ranged class. Sorc glass cannon has nothing on me XD
A bit burned out though. Might try and play an alt.

Edit:
Just killed a world boss for the first time in T4. Dropped lvl 80 cache, lol gonna take a while for me to open it XD

I made it to t3, did a helltide event and got a ton of new gear, ran a level 7 nightmare dungeon, it was fine at level 50.

I'm a flurry/poison rogue I'm following just a generic skill build on d4builds.gg. I wish someone had an actual decent flurry build put together. Because I like it. But no idea if I'm on the right track or not. Especially as i get into the paragon tree. I may just give up and try Pen shot or lame twisting blades.

I also wish dash made you unstoppable. It sucks that you pretty much have to take shadow step to keep from getting CCd to death

Anyway. I need to focus on renoun, finish that up, try to get my Lilith statues done too. Still having fun, keep thinking about a second class.

I got the twisting blades build. I am at lvl 53 and getting mobs wiped out pretty fast now. I wouldn't want the Pen Shot otherwise I would have had picked the Sorcerer.

I have to say I'm getting bored now. While there is PLENTY to do, after awhile you're basically doing the same thing over and over again.

Sometimes a bit yes until I get a new loot and adjust the build according. I am still enjoying the visuals and the soundtrack. It's that good and I haven't been gaming since the D3 release.

So DF is bitching about 8GB not being enough to run Ultra textures, again? Not being able to run settings above your hardware class is "problematic?" Are you kidding me?
Have they been? I thought it was HW unboxed doing most of those videos. In this particular video he just shows that system memory didn't seem to do anything for the ultra texture settings.

I imagine D4 brings up 32GB for 4k Ultra settings to compensate for the fact that many cards will only have 8GB of vram. The stuttering I got in the first open beta when they had that 4k textures bug being used at high settings (no matter the res set) didn't seem as bad as some reported because the system I was using has 32GB of system ram.

Even at 1080p medium, the game was using 7.2GB of system ram.

Anything useful from the campfire chat?
They listened to the cry babies and are letting renown from season 1 carry over to future seasons. Not having the fog of war over the map I at least agree with, but having all the hub waypoints unlocked from the start I do not agree with, but I guess it makes sense since you have a choice of which act to start with. They are also going to allow you to teleport directly to Nightmare Dungeons. I wanted a RPG, not a cookie clicker...

Only good things from the chat is a future update will move gems to the materials tab and the cap on materials will be increased. The experience from doing Nightmare Dungeons will also be increased.

I can't run ultra textures with a 3080ti. Only thing that remedies the stutter is going to medium :/

In the first of a new series of "campfire chats" about ongoing support for Diablo 4, a group of senior Blizzard developers outlined changes coming to the action RPG's endgame—for the few who have reached it already, that is...the team will be increasing Nightmare dungeons' XP rewards, while also making them easier to access...

Also to point out that they're going to convert gems into the materials tab and not hold in the inventory bag anymore- this will be nice!

They need to do something about the mounts. They are not fun to use.
They really aren’t. I’d start with ditching the cooldown, especially when you dismount, which I do accidentally all the time by hitting the dodge button. Would also be nice to be able to jump so you don’t get stuck by those stupid barriers.

I feel like the only game I ever truly enjoyed being on horseback is Elden Ring.

Cool down won't go away because it will be abused in pvp

I just want my horse to not be a slow idiot that gets caught on everything. The whole speed determined by distance of cursor is also an abomination

Then remove the ability to use your mount in the PvP zone.

I finished the story a few nights ago at lvl 40. Now I’m working my way towards the capstone dungeon but I’m not really sure how much longer the game will keep my interest. I don’t mind doing random map exploration and the strongholds at the moment.

I don’t really enjoy the legendary aspect system though, I prefer the older rare/unique/set system from the previous games. Maybe it’s just because I don’t feel like learning new things.

Also I like the fact that it runs well on Steam Deck. D4 and D2R are my most played games on it.

Finished it at level 48. Once I replaced ball of lightning with Blizzard, things became significantly simpler. I give it a solid 9/10. Time to uninstall.

Ugh hate to say it, time to take a few weeks off from the game. Hit that giant hill at around L65...the grinding for subpar gear is unreal. And I swear on the Uniques...I've gotten 3 or so copies of the stupid ring and pants at this point.

Apparently I also finished Diablo Immortal. As I killed Skarn and destroyed a shard. Is that the story or is something left. My next task is to hit level 60.

Its a brand new game. Look at how long it took D3 to become good. I have faith in a few years this game will be good online. It's too new at this point to say anything. Not even a year old and for a Diablo series is pre infancy at this point.

So just to get this right. If I am to continue playing what can I expect? I am level 49 right now and most quests are exactly the same. Go there and find something or clear out a dungeon to find something or break into a stronghold and clear out a dungeon under the stronghold to find something.

There is no more story so not sure what is the point except better gear but the game levels up with you so I am expecting better gear only means exact same gameplay?

Is there a time where I will actually feel powerful?

Love some thoughts.

I think it's the social and competitive experience that keeps a lot of people playing arpgs. People are drawn to the challenge of creating the strongest characters within the game's limitations. That's how I see it from my perspective anyway. It will be interesting to see how the game grows and changes. I think its launch went better than D3's did and they have a better foundation to work with.

I'm mostly back to my retrogaming tbh, but it's a game I will keep an eye on and play once in a while when I feel like it.

Paragon opens up alot more class power. Glyphs are very powerful and you level them up in nightmare dungeons. Can make a huge difference in defenses and offensive power of your class.

Do you not play ARPG that much? They are like the defining genre of doing X 1000 times and then do Y 1000 times and go back to X for another 1000 times. Nothing really going to change other than having more things to grind and min/max.

Exactly. If you're after a story, or not repeating the same process over and over, this genre is not for you.

The tres of whispers in WT1 or WT2. Get to WT3 and you get Helltides, nightmare dungeons, world bosses, legion events. There is a lot to do. Getting better gear and unique items. Leveling up the paragon boards.

As for feeling powerful. it depends on your build. I only started feeling powerful the past few days when a new build and gear started coming together.

Ok thanks guys. Then it’s probably not for me. The most I ever did in terms of grinding was Destiny because I played it with some friends. Since then, I have only ever grinded COD and BF battle pass levels. But that’s because I enjoy shooters.

This genre has always been a bit about one and done for me. With level scaling everything just feels the exact same all the time.

Btw I got Butcher’s ass at 48. Didn’t get squat for doing so.

Don't forget the start of seasons too. Seasons implement a whole new phase of changes that should keep content fresh enough to play for dozens of hours of added play time in each one.

Legion events and world bosses are available on WT1 and WT2. World bosses just don't show up on your map, but if you go to their arena when they're scheduled to spawn you'll be put in an instance. I did Ashava when she spawned in Fractured Peaks this morning at 2AM on WT1, and I'm still on Act 3. I've also already done a couple Legion events, which are actually a lot of fun.
