Diablo IV - The Real Official Thread

Sad to see Lilith got some cat envy and opted for plastic tits as well. đź‘€
It's sad because she used to be cute. Like so many other actresses she ruined herself with plastic surgery. She doesn't even look like the same person anymore. I posted it, though, because some of the eulogies are pretty funny.
The butcher got me hit then on respawn I couldn’t find him.

Hit level 41 and still on Act 3. Just traveling is such a chore as I am unable to get to the main quest without hitting a massive detour. Not sure why the map has this many dead ends and loops in Act 3.

Anyways, will keep playing until my shoulder falls off.
Utilize your pins on the map (right-click). It will generate a brown line on your minimap you can follow that will prevent that. People have said that the pathfinding for the pins is broken, but it has never steered me in the wrong direction so far.

Game now shows you a 'path' trough the map to the next quest spot? Just noticed.

EDIT: So I dont know exactly where it takes you...red line through the map?

Just killed Lilith. Lv. 49.
I was Level 56 and I killed her incredibly fast... Not paying attention to the screen when I was tracking my combos got me killed after all her meat came off ... but I rectified that right afterward.

Anyone else seeing that the drops in WT3 kind of suck. I haven't been able to get many of the same sorts of drops I was getting in WT2 in WT3. XP is way better for high level but the quality of drops for specific builds of sorceror see little variation. It's typically fire or electricity but not much Frost. If Frost, never blizzard or anything like that. I also can't find another artifact that lets me summon 2 stacks of hydras... I am underwhelmed by the legendary gear in WT3 and I have been grinding Hell Tides and The Tree of heads nonsense. Even did a "Nightmare" Dungeon and that was no bueno, no deaths but the drops were awful for the massive opposition you face.

Apparently they nerfed the drops in WT3 in the most recent server side update in a misguided attempt to stop people from farming the same dungeon all the time (loot cave 3.0).

That sucks. I thought the loot was supposed to be random but I can get the same pair of gloves or amulet out of the Obol dealer in WT3 ... 2-3 times in a row with little to no variation. I was wondering why my WT2 gear was superior to the 16+ hours I have dumped into WT3.

Is this anything they are gonna reverse? The Legendaries are garbage in general and upgrading my build has become incredibly painful. Most of the items I had from WT2 gave you great abilities and I lost ... double hydra stacks when I couldn't extract the imprint ... that's another artificial limitation that sucks. I don't recall it being there in the beginning but it might have been. If they want to turn us players off, they are doing a damn good job of it.

I'm now level 62, and very few items in my gear set have changed. I have been piece meal-ing my components, slowly to get better armor ratings but the losses to my Frost abilities and attributes has been unbelievable. I feel like my build is worse for the experience than better

Finally got my damn horse like 25+ hours later playing the game one or two levels at a time instead of binging still on tire1.

I think they may have nerfed drops on every tier below WT4 because I also noticed that I have not been getting any upgrades for my Sorcerer gear in the past 5 levels or so. And this is on WT2. I would usually reliably get at least one upgrade every level before the nerf, and now nada.
I didn't even use the DLC horse armor just bought the grey one.
You can get more horse armor as drops in the game.

Don't think it was really a nerf outside of the dungeons. Its the rolls are all over the place, I've been using the same crossbow since like 46 and I'm level 62 now. The dex role was just god tier :(

Yeah, the least my horse can be ridden in style. I have gotten at least 2 Barding drops from killing things that looked decidedly less like horse. Must have eaten someone else's horse.

That sucks... So, I gotta grind up to WT4 or piggy back on someone else doing it. Fun...

It's not just you. This is clearly an artificial limitation imposed by patches. That's why you've never seen a better weapon... They, largely, stopped doing attribute buffs that made sense for the specific classes. Like on sorcerer I get strength and dex instead of Intelligence and Willpower on my item drops.

I hit level 65 last night and definitely feel the lack of decent drops on WT3. I already cleared the capstone for WT4 with the help of a higher level rogue, but WT4 regular enemies are still too high level and it takes too long to kill them so I’ve stuck to WT3.

That's because all attributes benefit all classes now. I recommend reading their descriptions next time you're in game, it will help your build knowing what each stat does. It's completely different than previous Diablo games.

Trying to pump up dexterity and/or strength on a sorcerer is pointless. The derived statistics generated from them (dodge and crit chance on dex, armor on str) are better boosted by getting bonuses directly to those derived stats than going for the core stats. You do need dex nodes to unlock some of the better node abilities on the paragon boards, but you need to make compromises on what your focus at that point should be.

Yep, its all about the skills.. Got a few legendaries that are good enough since the 35 lvl and I am at 51 now still with the same gear. I won't replace them unless I see a better skill on the item that punches a significant dmg. What class are you playing?

I am well aware of what the stats do. However, on a sorcerer (as Armenius said) the other stats are nearly worthless for the class aside from Dex being a requirement for certain Glyphs on the Paragon Board. The Sorcerer needs items with Willpower (Mana Regen) and Intelligence (Spell Damage)

I made this mistake. I should have just hung onto the old gear and never updated my stuff. I was able to imprint 1-2 sets but the other already imprinted items I could not extract the imprint which makes me very unhappy. Yeah, having skills triggering at levels 7-9 was simply amazing. My raw damage delivery was able to outstrip some of my losses after I cherry picked some item upgrades based on Attribute buffs alone... but they all came form WT2. Nothing I have gotten in WT3 has been up to snuff except the Staff (I prefer wand and book... but) which kicked my base power up something like 4-500 points and my DPS is amazing as a result.

Wish I could have pulled the hydra double stack imprint.... Ice swords suck, even at level 7...

I've been able to equalize the losses with ticks on the Paragon Board... But dammit, I should be able to have good items that make getting the paragon points all that more valuable.

Anyone know what happens when you fill up the paragon board? Does this trigger a new chart above? I'm almost all filled up at 62 between that and miscellaneous area unlocks and bonus Paragon points

Probably be a DLC package

There are nodes on the sides of the boards that will allow you to add a new board. You can rotate them before being set to choose the optimal path to the nodes you want. You should not be completely filling up all the boards you unlock since each board only has one glyph node, and those passives are the best bonuses to unlock. I'm not at the point of earning paragon, yet, but I have been playing around with them in character planners. There are at least 4 boards that I want to utilize in my end game build I have in mind right now.

Ok, I am gonna have to look at it. Because I have damn near filled the entire board and no idea where the other boards are.

The connecting nodes look like a gate. When you unlock these nodes it gives you the option to attach a new board.

That was my guess, but I got to the gate and I didn't see another board above it. So I will have to look closely for options there when I get home.
When you click on the node you should get a new overlay that allows you to pick what board to attach.

This is more for hardcore, but:

What you want to do is focus on cellars.

Cellars will typically only have one or two elite enemies, and they're small and have a great escape route. You clear them until you have a decent amount of sacred gear (in WT3), or ancestral gear (WT4). And then you'll imprint on those pieces of gear. Once you have a fair amount (roughly 75% of your gear being sacred for WT3, or ancestral for WT4), you can start focusing on other things in the world.

I feel so stupid... I stopped reading up on guides for my first play through and thought that the first Paragon screen was all there was. "Man, this is a lot of glyphs when you only get to choose one," I thought, as I slowly fill up all the spots on the first board. :coffee:

That's what I thought, more buy in to see more... that's why I was filling the entire first one out...
He's joking. There are ears in the game, but they are only dropped in the PvP zone from killing other players and they are not tied to the paragon boards. It was a shot at the monetization of cosmetics and how you need to buy platinum in packs that contain more than you need for an item, so you end up paying more than necessary.

Well, I have to give up my dream of an HC run. Just not sure how I can do it.

This is one of the moves that is suppose to be able to be avoided, and I got hit while I was literally in the perfect position. He was in the center, and I was at the edge, giving me the largest possible circumference, and between the two fireballs, and still got hit.

The thing is, with uber Lilith, you have to dodge certain attacks, as you will be one shot otherwise. But apparently I live in the worst part of the USA for trying to play a real time ARPG. Not sure why Blizzard doesn't have any NYC or Boston servers.

I live in NYC: and even here, there were some major lag spikes some days last week (especially Wednesday, a few hours after I started playing, for some reason).
I have a fiber connection (Verizon FIOS Gigabit), and was surprised -- even after updating my router & checking for various updates, there was lag.
It's been pretty good this week, though.

The game itself is great, and Blizz actually did a lot of good here with the scaling/catering to casuals, while keeping things [H]ard enough for the hardcore types (not Grim Dawn/PoE levels of Excel spreadsheet madness, but that's super extreme by any standard: and I say this as someone who really enjoyed GD after the mess that was Diablo 3).

Story is surprisingly pretty well done, and the various NPC interactions featured good, polished voice acting.
Art design is really good, "realistically" grimdark, and matches well with the feel of D1, polished up for modern times.
Having a blast playing both Rogue and Barbie.
Got killed by the Butcher on my (then) lvl 38 Rogue after getting him to around 30-35% HP, but had to (successfully) run away on my (then) lvl 32 Barbie after getting him to 25% or so range (out of pots, and wasn't quite fast enough to repeatedly burst away from him for life regen).

Edit: Just hit lvl 39 on my Barbie, and got a rematch with the Butcher! This time in my favor, and he dropped a Legendary, to boot. Still a tough fight, with a few close calls, but very satisfying :D

Blizzard only has US servers in San Diego and Chicago. They do not have, nor plan to have, any East Coast servers, even though 40% of the USA lives in the Eastern Time Zone. The Eastern Time Zone has 3x as many people as the Pacific Time Zone. This just boggles my mind as to why they decided not to have any east coast servers.
