High on Life

I put in a few hours on the Xbox Series X version of the game (I'll check it out on the PC this weekend) and I'm really enjoying it. I have a pretty long weekend coming up and I'm definitely going to dig into the game more. The gunplay isn't amazing, but it's good enough to be fun and the humor works pretty well for me. Not all of it hits, of course, but enough does to keep me entertained.

I started playing around with it this morning. I had to lower some of the details down to get my performance where I'd like (shadows and AA mainly), but I'd say the graphics are pretty amazing as a result. I'm not seeing any hitching, so that must've been fixed. I'd digging the humor so far, too. No clue if it'll have long-term appeal, but it's seems neat so far. As a Gamepass title, I'm happy.

Jeez, is it that GPU intensive? I see you have a 3090 so were you trying to run it at 4k?

Of course. 4K or nothing at all :p. With everything maxed out it pulls 60fps in most situations, but it can bog down when you're in large open areas with lots of things going on. I'd rather have a consistently high FPS all the time, so I'd rather lower the details. Graphically, I'm not surprised it takes some horsepower. It's potentially the closest thing to a playable cartoon that I can remember.

The guys from Red Letter Media do the voice over work on all the MST3k style stuff in the game

I must be the type of person they're targeting for this game, because I'm having a great time with it. Never been a huge Rick & Morty fan (it's okay, though), but this game has the right vibe for me. Both the gameplay and the humor work.

I'm having a blast with it. Combat is a bit like Borderlands, but a little less twitchy. I'm doing just fine with a pad. Beyond the humor (which I like, but might not be for everyone), I think the level and game design are really good. It would be a fun game even with zero humor at all.

It ended up being one of the better games I played all of last year. There isn't any sort of NG+ mode, but if they ever add one I'll play through it again immediately. As it stands, I'll probably revisit it in a year or so either way.

I've heard the game doesn't break any new ground or do anything particularly innovative. It's a competent, single player shooter with decent mechanics and some fun comedic elements. It certainly has a specific art style to it of course.

Yup, I'd say that's fair. Graphically, with the details cranked it looks about as close to a cartoon as anything else ever has.

I finished it with most of the achievements on normal. It's ok. Probably a 7 unless you really dig the humor. If you don't then pretty much avoid. Glad it was on GP cuz not worth $60+. $20 game max. I've played way worse.

Even the game store says average completion time is about 8 hours, 11 if you go for completionist, so.. excellent value for game pass, not so much for $60.

Ah, I don't do game pass.

I'm curious to check it out, but for a game this short, I can't see myself paying more than like $9.99

I paid $39.99 for Cyberpunk 2077, and I got like 155 hours out of that...

This title will have to come down in price significantly for me to consider it.

I paid the $10 to try it on GamePass and was glad I did since I didn't care for it.

You might consider doing that unless you know for sure you'll love it and want to keep it.

The game is still $60, will it get discounted?

I don't think anyone here will have inside knowledge into the thinking over at the studio or at Valve. Their asking price is kind of ridiculous for such a short game though. I guess they are hoping that the notoriety of Rick and Morty will carry it and people will open their wallets.

I'll probably play it at some point, but I am holding off for a steep discount.

At only 8-11 hours of playtime they are asking the same amount of money as large open world titles you can get 150+ hours in. It's kind of a ripoff from that perspective.

I'll likely jump on it if I ever see it at the $15 price point on sale, but not a second before that.

Yeah it is overpriced. Had I not had GamePass... I wouldn't have touched it till it went on sale.

I think it's kinda like Redfall, Wo Long, Atomic Heart, etc. It was designed with Gamepass in mind.

Looks like the game is 50% off on Steam right now during the summer sale.

Still at $29.99, I think it is probably too much money based on how short I have heard the game is.

The main game is still $60 on Steam, I'll buy it when it goes on sale.

IMO, it's a $20-25 game. It's a decently long and well-paced game and there's more to see and do than you might initially think. Some later bosses are pretty tough (but still fun), too. No clue about the DLC, but if they can get everything under $30 it's worth a look.

I grabbed it on sale and enjoyed it. Never watched Rick and Morty, but I liked the bizarre humor. It's a fairly laid back game, so it's easy to enjoy. I died some, but you're not really inconvenienced by death.

Finally Steam has this game on sale, a package deal with the DLC for $34.99. Is that worth it? I like wacky crazy games, and wouldn't mind trying it out, if you all recommend?

Just purchased the bundle with the DLC for $34, downloading now.
