Far Cry 6

The last couple missions in El Este and Esperanza just felt ridiculous. Go find 7 people based on a photo, go knock out 11 different jammers that you have to find yourself, go paint 12 statues that you have to find yourself. I'm usually a fan of the Ubisoft model of run around the map and collect things for no good reason, but this was unusually difficult. The hidden history pages are also ridiculous. Generally, I will find 75% of things just from playing the game. I maybe found 10 out of 144. I'm surely not going to sit there alt-tabbing between some website and the game to find the other 130+.

Another DLC is out today, Pagan:Control. It's the gay boss from FC4 or at least the pink shirt wearing boss. The link below is 5 days old but I posted it so you can see his fabulous outfit and reminisce about his swagger in FC4.

Edit: Oh didn't realize the new map has such extensive scenery to explore. Here's some screens in the next link and a game map in the second link. It's supposed to take place in the character's mind or something like that. But hey as long as I can travel there it's fine with me being a graphics/exploration oriented player.

Far Cry 6 was one of the easiest games I've ever played even on the hardest difficulty. Finding those jammers using the map was child's play. Locations were much harder to find in Assassin's Creed Odyssey in unguided mode, but it was a challenge I welcomed because it encouraged exploration and I stumbled onto locations I'd not have otherwise. Plus it makes the game a billion times more immersive when you don't blindly follow an objective marker but actually have to look where you are going.

FC5 is the only game in the series I've bothered to replay and that's mainly because the game forces you to fight the bosses after a certain amount of time. I wanted to try some different approaches in NG+.
With the other games (including FC6), you can just keep taking over outposts and such after you complete the story. There isn't much point to starting anew just for the story missions...although at least the ones in FC6 didn't just feel like normal side missions.

I don't think I've ever replayed a story based single player game.

Well, I'll take that back.

I replayed the original Deus Ex about 10 years ago for nostalgia purposes. I also played through Black Mesa which is sortof like replaying Half-Life, right? And then there was the S.T.A.L.K.E.R Lost Alpha mod, that converts all three Stalker games into one large and completely open world title with loads of new content, so I am not even sure if that counts.

Usually once I know the story, I have no reason to re-play the games. At least not until YEARS have passed and I have forgotten the story.

Come to think of it, I did replay Deus Ex Human Revolution right before Mankind Divided because I wanted a refresher on the story.

I didn't realize replaying games was common though. I mean, sure, for multiplayer online games, or randomized map strategy titles, sure, but for big Single Player AAA Story games? I never really thought much about it.

For me it depends on the style of game. I don't usually replay large-scale open world games much, but I'll happily replay "normal" point A to point B games. I've played through the various Uncharted games upwards of a dozen times, although they're not all that long. Gears, too. I've been through both Last of Us games 4 times each. No clue how many times I've replayed Resident Evil 4, but it's at least 10. I've run through RE7 and Village at least 4-5 times each, too. You get the picture, either way. The only open world games I've replayed have been the GTA games. I like the humor and a lot of really good missions are tied to the plot.

Few hours into the story in FC6. Can't help to compare it to FC3. It's okay I guess, but one thing I've noticed is there's not alot of hidden type treasures in caves. Looting seems to be gone for the most part. Maybe that comes later in the game, but will all these little islands to explore, there appears to be a whole lot of nothing. Again, comparing it to FC3.

Game play and gun creation is alway a bit confusing, maybe throwing too much at you at once.

how is the HD Texture Pack (PC)?...when it was first released I heard it had issues for Nvidia owners (I have an RTX 3080, AMD 5800X and 32GB RAM)...are there any noticeable visual improvements with it enabled or should I not even bother installing it (I'm playing at 1440p G-Sync)?

It ran fine at 1440p and improves textures to an acceptable level for a 2021 game.

Anyone have any idea why I can't install the free trial from the Epic Store???

There is option to download high res textures in ubi connect + full game?

Hi my pc:
10850K stock 4800mhz
2x16 GB DDR4 GSKILL 3200mhz XMP
Seasonic Tx-850 Ultra Titanium
Gigabyte Rtx 3090 Gaming OC
Aorus Z490 Pro Gaming
1 TB SSD

Using all ultra, hd texttures on,,DXR ON <both ON> 1440P. I am gettin with GPU USAGE issue. Overall is 90-98% gpu usage. But there are drops for a moment to 80-70% usage and fps dropping to 70fps for a moment. Is this game issue or my cpu is too weak? Fps is between 70-100+-fps. But that gpu usage is worrying me. Just after 1 mission,on that island.

It's your power supply.

/s

He's at 1440p and also running a 12900k and probably PCIe 4. IIRC, from one of your million threads about your power supply, you are running a 10850k. That could be the difference right there assuming no other differences between your setups.

I turned DXR OFF and gettin 100fps . So why he have with DXR ON 100fps when i have 100fps with DXR OFF.

DXR is gpu depended.

Here is someone with DXR OFF gettin the same score like me. He have 10900K.<russian>

You are playing at 1440p with an RTX 3090 so it's perfectly normal you're going to get GPU usage well below 99%. You can do a little research on the outdated engine they use in this game because it's extremely single thread limited so your GPU usage would be even lower if you had a weaker CPU.

Ok thank you. Just asked about benchmark. Thx

I was "offended" by some stuff said at the beginning of this game (yeah, lulz), but decided to push on & after 10+ hours of tedious game play, I started to enjoy the game & the ending was GREAT.

I'm going to start this later today...I hear they fixed the blurry textures with the HD Texture Pack installed with the December patch

built-in benchmark score...everything maxed out at 1440p (including ray-tracing) + HD Texture Pack installed

I compared my fps with someone on 12900K and i have 15 fps less. 1440P and all ultra. So is that difference between 10850K and 12900K?

Yes. Far Cry games can be very CPU bound sometimes and 10850K is outclassed by the new CPUs. Your results are expected.

You realy need to focus more on enjoying games on your pc and less on comparing differences in fps between your pc znd some other random PC on the internet. All it gives you is an idea of performance, not a 1v1 comparison.

There is a reason certain test have a margin of error

exactly...I ran the benchmark with my 3080 and got an Average FPS of 96 and am perfectly fine with that...I'm not going to go search the internet and get depressed if someone else is getting 103 FPS...that mgty dude seems like he goes looking for issues and if someone is getting 2 fps higher than him he gets paranoid

just play the game...you'll know if there are issues if you see artifacts, instability or crashes
