Destiny 2

Finished the campaign on legendary. The increased difficulty made the campaign much more enjoyable. It wasn't a steamroll and you actually wiped on some of the encounters, also the rewards made it completely worth it. Also I have to give it to the devs, this story was much more interesting and easier to follow. Beyond light story was good too so I am glad they improved how they tell the story.

So far I am happy with how this expansion turned out and it should keep me entertained for a while. I quit around season 3 of Shadowkeep so have a few exotic quests that I can complete.

They really did a good job with it. I did the campaign in legendary difficulty as well. Note, it scales well with added fireteam members. That is to say, it's not actually easier as a group since the difficulty increases with additional fireteam members. About all it does is give you the ability to get revived on parts where you would wipe doing it alone.

One thing that caught me and my buddy off gaurd was that each person only has 1 revive token per encounter. You need to make sure your still playing as if you can't die at all, it really sucks losing having to start the fights over because your friend died twice lol.

They have the same mechanic in the raids. The master mode raids are different. They only have three total revive tokens for the entire encounter. A person can only use the revive once, like in the regular mode but only three total revives can be done per encounter.

Witherhoard is one of my all-time favorite weapons and I can also vouch for it having been pretty huge for me during the course of the legendary campaign.

I rarely use it. I prefer to use Null Composure or some other fusion with reservoir burst on it in the energy slot and then use a kinetic primary of some sort. Which one varies a lot. For much of the campaign I used a high impact scout or my Timelost Fatebringer. I switched between a rocket launcher and One Thousand Voices for my heavy weapon.

Finished legendary campaign. Some of that was downright unpleasant for me.
I feel like I'm taking forever, promised my buddy I would only do the campaign with him and I low key regret having friends right now lol. I just finished the 5th mission last night and now I need to do the strike, hoping to crush the strike and atleast the 6th mission tonight.

I'm a pretty casual mostly solo player who doesn't raid, so I just played the normal difficulty campaign. I just play my warlock. I'm up to 1515 from gear with +10 to that from artifact level. If I was good enough to be confident with Legendary from the campaign start I'd be 545ish total, but that would be way too much stress, and I'm not sure I could have done it. I came back to the game after quite a few months away, and I'm enjoying it again.

Anyone else loving Osteo Striga? That thing is a beast...just need another Ascendant Alloy to masterwork it.

ETA: got Ascendant Alloy from the Weekly heroic mission quest (so got the Osteo Striga catalyst), probably not a regular drop from the weekly, just lucky.
ETA2: looks like I'm going to finish the week at 1520 gear and +11 bonus unless I get lucky with prime engram drops.

The grind to get 2 Tarnation and 2 Come to Pass that have active deepsight resonance in order to get the patterns to craft them is a slog and a half. Yesterday I got 5 tarnations but only one with deepsight and the day before I got three Come to Pass but none with deepsight :(

My fav quest so far was the one to get Parasite (the worm grenade launcher), nothing like bashing scorn with an angry grub worm.

Is 1350 content like Grasp of Avarice or Vault of Glass trivial now, or does our power scale down when doing those? I'm guessing it scales down. Since I just came back to the game after many months away, I haven't done either yet.

Your power only scales 50 light above an activity. It does make it easier, but it's not enough to make the content feel trivial.

Pretty sure dmg04 said the team is looking into the drop rates as it seems like everyone is having issues obtaining them. Some people have run dozens of times with very little or nothing to show.

On a side note, but related, weapon crafting to me is hugely underwhelming. The upgraded reload weapon boost saves like 0.2s. Sorry, that's not nearly enough to entice me to delete my favorite roll weapons to "upgrade".

Finally finished the last mission today on legendary, that final mission is ridiculous with a team. Tried and failed 3 times in a 3 man group, was able to solo it pretty effortlessly solo lol.

That said I have been playing with void builds on my warlock and going with a vortex grenade and supporting fragments/aspects + controverse hold and a void well build is rediculous. Watching this massive void vortex pull in everything around it, slaughter it all fast, heal me instantly on a kill and recharge itself is fucking crazy. If I drop my vortex grenade on a group of 3-4 enemies I never get less than half my grenade and almost always get atleast 3/4 back from it. Been pairing it with the xur gnawing hunger that had demolitionist and my grenade are now 75% of all my kills lol. Also tried pairing it with a really good roll nezarack sin and it's almost as fast with grenade recharge but also recharges my super insainly fast.

I'm pretty big on stasis but by golly if they didn't enough with void to make me use it the most now. (Hunter primary, eventually going to work on the others.)

https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyThe...yone_know_why_imperial_needle_is_disabled_in/

This is lame. Somehow I was able to use my Imperial Needle and finished this Preservation mission. I did it solo and it wasn't hard but I did notice how good the Needle felt.

Imperial needle was only disabled in the raid, along with ikelos SMG since they both got a 40% buff they were not supposed to. ikelos uses the same "code" as the osteo striga exotic and imperial needle uses the same "code" as Ticcus divination. So they both wound of with the 40% buff the exotics got.

The preservation mission was super easy to solo. I used a scout, funnelweb SMG and galy. You can kill one of the 3 "bosses" before you go down that long haul into their room. Go to the far right of the main room and rocket him down from there, then you only have two to deal with once in the room.

I agree that Preservation went surprisingly smooth and well. I went in with Witherhoard, Imperial Needle, and Ascendancy and tore it up. I came out of Preservation and suddenly Imperial Needle was completely disabled. Now I turned the game on and it's back so maybe something got fixed or who knows what.

I suspect if I try to jump into the raid I would see the Needle disabled again so obviously some wrinkles to it.

Have run wellspring 30+ times today, 10 come to pass drops zero red ones

Have run wellspring 30+ times today, 10 come to pass drops zero red ones

I think this is a terrible system and I refuse to waste too much time on it as is.

I have two of those damned AR rifles right now but they aren't red and oh, I have to have two reds of those and do it and then it counts for the quest. I'm sorry, but that's crap.

I think I ran Wellspring a total... gosh, maybe 10 times? I was dizzy and I finally said F it after the second copy of that rifle dropped but no reds.

For some of these weapons, you have to do five attunements. Are you kidding me? Like this? Get real.

Artificial bloat. Too many steps. Not nearly enough refinement and consideration to the gamer's time. They need to address this and clean it up. Some of this needs to be streamlined.

The economy of the red border weapons is flat out bullshit. I get plenty of ones to extract the deepsight stuff from but not the ones that have a pattern you can extract.

This.

So I finally after at least three hours of gaming time between yesterday and today got the two red border Come to Passes. Sheer random luck. Then I get to do it again for Tarnation. Then at some point apparently certain exotics or some such want 5. I'm in no hurry. They need to streamline and refine this setup big time.

Shuro Chi is a great place to knock out those in a hurry. I think I did 7-8 of them last night in maybe 30-40 minutes while watching Netflix.

Getting the deepsight stuff done isn't the issue. It's getting the red bar weapons that are craftable in the first place.

Totally agree. I'm completely put off about the whole thing. None of the "enhanced" traits are a huge enough upgrade that make me want to delete any of my weapons.

I'm still trying to complete the mission board weapon crafting step. I've gotten 1 deepsight weapon from Wellspring, and it wasn't either of the ones I need.

I'd rather chase VotD weapons.

The Fusion is nice. It's not a particularly great fusion but going in the kinetic slot is a big deal as it allows you more options for energy primaries.

This game is kind of confusing for new players or those who only play sporadically, but it is quite fun. I started a Hunter a while ago, and got up to the point where i got sent to a hub planet/station. I also started a Warlock and played it a bit. A few weeks ago I started a Titan but only played until the end of the tutorial part. Logged in today on the Hunter to mess around and saw all the characters were the same level/gear score. I completed the Savathun quest chain and it was pretty intense, but fun. I play it on Xbox, since I get (some of) the expansions with the GamePass and I don't have to fight DRM. It’s a fun game to pop into and kill some stuff, but not sure I would want to take the deep dive into figuring everything out. I remember doing a few group missions and those were fun, think I will get the characters up to be able to do some more of those.

Triple fusion build! Yeah, it's a decent weapon. I'm a HUGE fan of the SMG, and Pulse though. I love aggressive burst, I always have my Sacred Provenance on me, and RIP Blast Furnace.

Did the raid 3x and got a shitload of weapons
3x SMG (2 great rolls)
4x Fusion (1 good roll)
5x Pulse. (1 great, 1 good roll)

And got 1 red box weapon from the guaranteed red box chest (fusion) at the final boss, and 1 from the first buy for raid tokens (also fusion).

So yeah, 10 weapons, not a single deep-sight drop. I'm either really, really unlucky or they need to unfuck their drop rates. (This seemed common to most of our clan)

That said, fun raid, good mechanics, but I think the 3rd encounter is gonna be hell on LFG groups for a while. The boss fight is pretty easy, though. You can literally have two people who know what to do and beat it.

The raids and dungeons are the best parts of the game, in my opinion.

I'm sure if you have questions, there are quite a few of us that have been playing a while who can help.

Destiny 2's gameplay is pretty much second to none. It's basic gameplay loop is generally entertaining albeit, somewhat confusing to new players.

That's my feeling as well. Some of the more mundane activities don't generally entertain me. I hate strikes with a passion. Gambit is OK and the Crucible is a toxic shitshow, but it can be fun in certain modes and in some cases.

Last season, a triple fusion build would likely have been utterly game breaking.

I haven't crafted much at all mabye 3 weapons, i hate the system. The fact that you have to do certain events to get the chance to get a re box weapon is just plain dumb. I wish you had more control over your crafting but they suck at making their ideas work sometimes.

I have enjoyed the story elements so far, and some of the gameplay, but admittedly not the new economy or mechanics. A lot of tweaking needed... I am just so tired of gameplay that funnels you into their microtransactions, it's just a broken record anymore. Took all of last Season off and have been pretty slow to get into this Season. Games as a Service centered game development in general has pushed me away from games like this.

Unrelated, here is Esoterik with some useful testing:

I'm an old fart (54) and I work too freaking much (avg 70hrs a week since Covid). Tried it with a buddy of mine, his 2 sons and a couple of LFG guys. No real issues until the third encounter, then we hit a brick wall. The LFG'ers kept taking relics not assigned to them, so people wouldn't know their rolls or what they were supposed to do, because most of them had only ever done one roll so far. Couldn't get the spawns down either, so the timed part kept wiping us. After 3 hours (over all) I ran out of time and had to bail. Can't say I ever want to do it again, but I'm sure I'll try some day. Usually solo and don't have a readily available list of people to get together, so I don't get many Raid / Dungeon clears. LFG is better than nothing, but my odds with it have been 50/50 at best.

I'll be 53 in June ;)

To extend the time in the 3rd encounter you need to kill the shielded Knights. The Knights always spawn in the same place, at the same time (after a pair of glyph-keepers are killed). The darkness relic guys (laser beam) just need to know that if people are doing glyph call outs he needs to be killing the Knight. In the 3rd room the spawn is out in the middle of the raised platforms in the pit. In the 4th room it's on a middle platform towards the last platform. It's literally the easiest job. Never stop shooting that thing, it's got near infinite range, too.

Add me if you want Mr Self Destruct#4592 and I'll gladly help if I'm around and not busy, or I could probably find a few clan guys to help.

I've also had really good luck with some Discord LFG groups, by looking for those that say "chill group", and skipping the challenges, while they aren't hard, they do require a bit of teamwork that can be hard to find in PUGs.

Old fart checking in (53) I havent tried the new raid, I dont mind spending hours failing with people I know or even just kind of know, but I have zero patience for random LFG people. In my entire D2 carreer I think I have 2 Last wish clears and one Deep Stone Crypt I've tried 3 clans that claim to be chill laid back etc, all three of them ended up being mostly kids spend most of their time in chat letting people know how much they suck for one reason ot another. I miss out on a lot of stuff, GMs, dungeons etc, but I also miss out on all of the stress, drama and irritation of dealing with random try hards.
