Destiny 2

A friend of mine who has been a Destiny junkie wrote this:

Only Bungie could take something relatively simple like transmog and completely screw it up with an overly convoluted and needless system such as this. Way too much grinding to be able to change a few pieces of armor appearances, and then they're going to cap the amount of times you can do it in a season.

Just absurd. What's the point? The amount of armor pieces in the game that even look decent are very few. And it's not like stats on armor matters anyway. Shave a few seconds off an ability, makes zero difference.

And then raising the cost of Eververse shaders from 40 Bright Dust to 300 is just pathetic. Such a Bungie thing to do.

I'll get along and it's not the end of the world but I think my friend brings up some good points and at least some of Bungie's decisions here are perplexing. I am not sure what the point really here except "change for the sake of change" ? Transmog could be a nice thing but early goings are going to be choppy.

P.S. Bringing back Ada hopefully has more going for it than just that and I can get some of my black armory loot and ship back somehow. ;)

Bungie: Today we're revealing our Transmog system...
Transmog System: Make it suck so they spend money at Eververse.
Fanbase: It's all designed to push us to Eververse!
Bungie: Always has been.

Just not participating in GG. I may miss the Heir Apparent catalyst from a collections PoV but.. meh. Filling up progress bars by playing the same old content isn't content, i'll pass.
I'm going hard enough to get the heir apparent since I didn't get it last year then I'm happy. If I get the catalyst I will pursue it but I'm not pushing hard for it

The catalyst is super easy to complete once it drops

I'm on step 3 of 3 before the catalyst is mine. Daily Focus today is in Crucible. That's going to take forever at best so I'll wait for Strikes ideally and knock it out fast.

Yeah I finished that step in less than one run through a strike

Got my heir apparent,.man fighting for heavy ammo in crucible for that second step sucks lol. Turned in 1 medal after getting it and my catalyst dropped so now I'm on the medal grind for that quests first step.

I'm on the last step of the Catalyst, but I'm waiting for a day that isn't Crucible focused. Not going to spend all day fighting over the Heavy.

Ran a flawless Arms Dealer GM with two other guys and what did I get? Diddly squat. I am pretty sure we beat all the champs, too. We were thorough. I got a piece of exotic gear I already have, some pank gear, enhancement core, and odds and ends... no triumph, no shader, no emblem...no nuthin'. Oh well.

Yeah there isn't anything tied to flawless. Could have told you that beforehand :-P

Fourth Mark finally dropped for me, and I completed the Guardian Games quest. Tried some GM, but I was (am) too exhausted to be of any good. Didn't bother with Trials for the Messenger either. 83 work hours this week... I'm a zombie. Maybe next weekend.

I love Destiny... but damn Bungie, you need a reality check.

This is exactly how I feel after this week's TWaB.

Me too. I'm seeing pretty much large to universal broad consensus along those lines and it's not good.

I couldn't agree more. Every word for it. Long/short and this guy is hardly a "negative" bashing hater type.

Speaking for myself past that:

I may as well go for it because some of the concerns cited in this and things we've all talked about are not new and I'm just going to say it again, even though there was a time I would have thought this nuts and never would have believed I would say it at all:

Outside of the shooting and world design crews, I regret that Bungie left Activision and retained the rights to Destiny all told. I am at the point I'm hoping someone steps up and buys the rights off of Bungie.

Long gone are the days of Taken King or even Forsaken caliber content and the is a lot more F2P and BS MMO style worthless grinds and frankly, money grabs for nonsense.

I have been wondering if my days are numbered with this franchise. I suspect so if these kinds of decisions and overall general direction continue. Awesome shooting mechanics and world design only go so far.

I am wondering if they are just going to go F2P all the way and finish it.

I am not a fan of F2P because of stuff like this. I am really not an MMO person either. A game like Destiny had a good balance on the hybrid concept but I see it tilting more in that grind/cash grab/F2P MMO direction. It's not going to take much more of that for me to throw in the towel.

There are some things I've paid some cash for that frankly as a season pass person especially I really shouldn't have had to and then this TransMog thing...while not essential certainly... is just the latest in a number of decisions we have bitched about, excused to a point, and then watched the rinse and repeat when they walk some of it back and the sheep community "thanks them for listening" and onward.

There is definitely Stockholm Syndrome among the Destiny community. I won't belabor the point but believe me: I do not share in that Stockholm Syndrome. I almost walked on sunsetting. Maybe I should have.

There is still enough that I like that obviously I'm still playing it but something has to change and I think more people are finally starting to wake up to that fact.

Blaming everything "bad" on "big bad greedy Activision"...obviously not.

I stuck a Clown Cartridge / Vorpal Threaded Needle in my Vault just in case the Linear Fusion Rifle buff makes it godly. Also brushed off my Sleeper Simulant and brought it up to 1310. Not necessary really, but I was cleaning out my Vault anyway.

Also started exchanging Legendary shards for planetary materials from Spyder. Buddy of mine likes to have 4k of everything at the start of a Season, but I'm not that dedicated. If I can force myself to spam the mouse button enough to get to 2k each, I'll be doing good. Tedious.

I've been using this as a guideline although I'm not sure if it's been kept up to date. It's close enough. I'm not killing myself but I have made a point to check in with Spyder on a daily basis.

4k is out of the question. I do have 2k on a few things and less than that on others but this is the first time I've ever really concentrated on this and the "bounty XP booster" situation so anything is better than nothing I figure.

I don't care much for Linear Fusion Rifles but I do have some and I'll likely keep them "just in case."

After running the Coup De Grace mission since release at least 3 times a week, and many weeks "farming" it using the lure reset I finally got that 4th Mark ship to drop. That's broken levels of rng.

FYI - can confirm the farm method of resetting your lure does indeed still work.

Good to know. Wondered about that after no rewards were dropping when resetting. One finally dropped for me a couple weeks ago. Was only running one character, and missed a few weeks at the beginning, but otherwise every week as well.

About the only thing i'm looking forward to this season is Vault of Glass. I never really played D1 but seeing so many runs VoG on youtube i'm super excited to see it recreated in D2.

It turns out that Celery has dropped on 1/2 of all my igneous hammers this season. Why, Bungie. Why.

I'm getting pretty tired of just playing this game for good weapon drops that maybe only happen once a season on one particular weapon, instead of playing the game because the game is fun to play and I enjoy the loot I've acquired.

I haven't played at all this season. I got to rank 300+ last season, but I just couldn't face the grind again. Unfortunately I prepaid for all this year's seasons, but I guess that's the breaks. I'm back to playing FFXIV again and I'll probably play through the Mass Effect Legendary series at least once while waiting for the FFXIV expansion in the fall. Maybe play through the Halo series again. I started playing Destiny when Destiny 1 first came out, and got years of fun from it. Loosing my favorite weapons sucked, but mostly I'm just sick of the grind every 3 months.

The shift has become noticeable along with some other developments that are not welcome. We all keep playing because there is enough in the positive column obviously to keep us going but it's not lost on me that I'm seeing the positive column shrink and the negative column grow.

I think I'm at the point that I hope someone...yes even Activision or possibly even MS (I know...)... someone with generally better sensibilities broadly speaking buys the rights to Destiny off of Bungie. That's where I'm at with it.

The expected server issues. I'll be amazed if I can play this today. You all know how it goes when we go into a new season. ;)

Yet as I keep following twitter, the weapon perks and artifact mods this season are so damn exciting!

I'm just up and getting ready for work. Logged on long enough to get Destiny updated, but Servers were too congested to log in. I won't be able to play until roughly midnight CST, so... just make sure she's able by then. :p

Maybe. It's a shame it has to be a cluster@#$% every time for a season transition. Oh well.
