2080ti Pricing?

Trying to comprehend this. Back in February of 2019 I was building my daughter a computer and purchased a 2080Ti from Newegg for $1,299.99 - GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 2080 Ti GAMING OC 11G Graphics Card, 3 x WINDFORCE Fans, 11GB 352-Bit GDDR6, GV-N208TGAMING OC-11GC.

Today the same card on Newegg costs $1,649.99 and ships from a seller in China. This is considering that 30 series nVidia cards are already on sale. How is this possible?
 
Get an evga B stock , they have them for 749 or less at times and use the discount in my signature EW8YQ1F2NJ45F0K. It is possible because NV fucked us over very very badly being a vapor launch of the 3080. Or rent something from a big box retailer for the holidays and return in Jan when hopefully things are much better.

Or get one locally, I sold mine for 7xx few weeks back and I still see CL postings around the 700-900 mark. You can hope that Oct 28/29 change things in a big way once Navi 2 and 3070 come out but there are armies of bots waiting for them already.

Yeah, even the used prices are seriously inflated most everywhere.

Even here on [H] the used prices are nuts................If anyone has anything up for sale.

Yea perfect storm of Jensen the scumbag pulling a fast one, old cards being out of production , Radeon availability still unconfirmed and lots of people at home....
 
My 2080Ti just died, so I ended up ordering 2x B-Stock EVGA FTW3 Ultra HC for $750 each shipped after tax (thanks for the code @undertaker2k8), plus 5% back on my Chase Freedom via Paypal payment ($75 worth 1.25x for travel later = $93) brings me close to $1400 for the pair. It's actually not a bad deal considering it's one the highest end 2080Ti models with a waterblock preinstalled and 1 year warranty.

I'm not sure I'll keep/use them just yet with AMD's release and maybe 3070 availability soon. But I wanted/needed to lock in some replacement cards for work I do. But if AMD's cards are anything near the 3080 and available, I will return these unopened and get those instead.

If I was a retailer with excess 20 series cards I would set up a discount bin like what Walmart has for DVDs, flash drives, etc. and price them at 200 USD.

That's harsh and unnecessary: we do not know if the 3070 will be a. Available for folks to actually buy or be a scalper only edition like the 3080 b. Actually beat the 2080 ti as NV claims given it has almost 50% more RAM and bandwidth. And something like FTW3 version is actually 15% faster than a vanilla 2080 ti.

While I do not regret selling my Zotac 2080 ti off for 7xx last month, I will be mighty tempted to get a FTW3 2080 ti if it falls below 700 on b stock...though I have a 2070s rental on the way from BB just in case. I honestly expected the evga 3080 step up and notify queues to more than an one hour on launch day in the past 15 days. I signed up for stepping up my 2060 KO to 3080 FTW3 on 10/3 but the queue has moved all of 45 minutes since then lol.

I believe something like 2080 Ti FTW3s will be around 500-600 for a while even after 3070 launch and a couple of hundred bucks of value hit is ok to not have to play the f5 game, have a still potent 4k card for the holidays and definitely better than paying 500 over MSRP to an ebay scalper. So good move blade52x , hope you enjoy your cards and forget the naysayers.

I have two FEs I’d sell with water blocks (and original coolers) for $700 shipped each lol

In all fairness, new cards are so hard to get, and 2080Tis are out of production now (and the easiest card to obtain), so it’s only natural prices are slowly climbing when the 3080, which normally retails lower, is selling for around $1200-1500.
 
it's insane, 2080Tis start at 33% more now than it was when I got one not even a year ago. And there is no Evga b-stock here, so if you don't have a card, or sold it waiting for 3xxx series you are royally screwed by jensen and co.
 
The 11gb frame buffer on the 2080 ti will be paying dividends,for a while, look at the serious sam 4 performance numbers on notebookcheck of the 2070s/2080 vs the 2080 tis.

Sorry to hear that mate. Ebay still has cards going under 800 regularly if that is an option.
 
It's all good. I'm in a good place in life right now, and a few hundred $ here or there isn't going to make or break anything. A 3070 release matching one of the highest end 2080Ti models (which I expect it will) will likely cost ~$1000-1100 depending on the model. So let's say I lose out on $400 of disposable after-tax income: that's worth about maybe ~5 extra hours of work for me. In any other normal year I probably don't do this, but there have been supply shortages on pretty much everything I've wanted post-pandemic. For example I had to wait weeks just to get a mountain bike I ordered.

I need to build a new 4x GPU rig by the end of the year, and I've been running a bot for a week just trying to get one 3080 without luck so far (doesn't automatically check out, I need to be present a do that manually). So yeah I'm totally fine with paying what I did for one of the highest end 2080Ti models (warranty was also a big selling point). But that's about near the limit of what I am willing to pay right now given we have some new releases coming up. If I didn't really need any GPUs I'd just wait.

Thanfkully I Still have my card, and don't plan to sell it either until 3080 20GB becomes readily available at MSRP.
And unfortunately ebay is not really much use in EU either. I'm stuck with local stores when it comes to PC parts.

Indeed. Had my Ebay e-mail alerts set since couple days before the 3000 series "launch". Have seen numerous blower style 'new' 2080 ti sell for $299. And many upper end models in the $4-500 range. All gone in seconds.

Naah, Covid-Jensen more like it. Prior to the launch, market had stabilized and cards were widely available. Then NV stopped production of the 2x series in July and paper launched the 3x in Sept, exacerbating 10x any Covid supply issues. Everything else in high demand stabilized a few weeks in despite Covid, including the much awaited LG 48CX which has the same audience you could argue. This is Jensen 100% fucking over the people who got Nv to where it is today, long before mining and AI were a thing.

Because your looking at a seller in China? You see that all the time, 3rd party sellers jack things up to stupid prices. Could also be hoping someone thinks a 2080 Ti is the latest and greatest. Stores here have come down to sub $1k CAD for some 2080Ti cards, but to even expect that ? I would be curious who, even though 3080's are no where to be found, would actually go out and buy a new 2080Ti right now at full price..

Bestbuy on Fri night had Asus 2080 tis for 1279 and 2080 FE supers for 699, both sold out in a few mins. The 2070 FE S sold out even quicker but still long enough for me to get the notify via discord and actually get one as a 90 day rental lol. Good practice run for the next 3080 drop :) and I suspect many folks are doing the same and can't blame them either. Hope NV gets stuck with a bunch of returned FE cards from their retail partner BB given their shenanigans.

If they aren’t founders edition cards, it will be the board vendors who get stuck with them, not Nvidia.
