Who's making moves to get ready for the new release of cards?

I hope I can get a really good card in the 350 top 450 range. I'm still on a 970gtx!
Yeah, totally hoping for a huge uplift in performance in that range. Raytracing and Rasterization performance capable of 60 fps without dlss at 1080p with ultra settings at least. I will give a pass doing 1440p 60 with dlss .

The RTX 2060 was pretty solid outside of ray tracing. And we know it can run well with DLSS in Death Stranding.

So even a modest raster perf boost but with big ray tracing gains, that would be great. Probably where will we land with the 3060 card.

Im excited and scared at the same time, I don't have a good feeling about prices. I still plan on waiting until AMD releases are tested.

I'm fairly convinced the TI will be AT LEAST 1k, if not approaching on 1.2k. I suspect that card will be the first in the lineup on the 7nm TSMC node, and the 3080 and below will all be Samsung 8nm. This will result in a reasonable performance gap between the 3080 and TI which will also be used to justify cost.

Selling my evga 2060 ko as soon as the 3080 drops..just bought it for 329. Hope I get at least 200$ it. Who knows.

3800x @4.35 GHz
32GB 3600mhz DDR4
GTX 1080 FE @ +120core/ +400memory
27” HP Omen 2560x1440 144hz GSYNC

I mainly play CoD Warzone. With all settings set to the lowest and AA to Filmic 2x TXAA I get around 120-130 FPS. If I set everything to max with Filmic 2x TXAA I get around 70-90 FPS.

I’m hoping with a 3080 on lowest settings I can reach 180-200fps or max settings around 120+. Yes I will be overclocking the Ampere card to try and squeeze every possible gains I can get out of it.

Why are you spending good money to play games at low settings?

Sold off my 2080Ti now running old Vega 56. Going to buy the top end founders with block as soon as preorders are up.

Sold my blocked 2080ti locally to make way for the next flagship. Currently using my 980ti.

I’m hoping the next Ti/3090 gpu doesn’t cost more than 1500 :wtf:

As far as I can remember, I have owned roughly 10-12 different GPUs the past 8 years or so. The 980ti along with a Radeon 7850 are the only cards I've purchased new. By purchasing new, I was able to get a 10 year extended warranty for my 980ti from EVGA. I determined it would be enough to run any game at 1440 at low/medium, so that is my definite backup card.

I'm not gaming as much as I use to, right now I am casually playing COD Warzone. My 9900k and 980ti can pump out 90fps on low/medium at 1440p.

I am, however, looking to jump on Cyberpunk when it comes out. I'm making an estimated guess that the next Ti/3090 will give me 144fps at 1440p with Max settings.

A 980ti??? Whats that Indy?

Gonna wait till after market cards are released instead of founders edition. Still using 1080tis at moment. Wasnt impressed with 2080tis. Never buy first gen anyways. Yes I will be upgrading.

I hear ya. I'm still rolling with a 980ti. I already waited this long to upgrade, might as well wait a little more.

You can't really do much to get ready because it makes absolutely no sense to make any decisions before the next Ryzen CPUs are out. A lot is going to depend on that.

I also think it's foolish to look too closely at the LG OLEDs for HDMI 2.1 until Samsung releases their HDMI 2.1 TVs, because I suspect that they'll actually be better for PCs than the LGs.

Making moves, no? I’ll keep both 1080 Tis and find another use for them.

It’s served me well for years, even in my secondary PC. I’m sure it’ll still be kicking when the 4090 ti super duper comes out.

I'm rocking a 780 ti after unloading my 1080 ti and 2080 Super which does surprisingly well at 1080p, so nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, it's given me an excuse to go back to my backlog and play some older, missed games.

I myself had an EVGA 780 ti classified. The gpu barely fit in my case and had some droop, but it killed everything at 1080p.

I wish I had dispensable income and managed to keep all the gpus I’ve had over the years.

I try to make it a point not to keep a GPU longer than 3 years as these things tend to die at the 3-5 year mark. Plus I hate when Indy breaks in and tries to steal it, windows are expensive to replace and I hate whip scars!

Lul!

I’m banking on the fact that my 980ti will tank within my 10 year warranty period so I can get a replacement. I’ve had 3 rma experiences with EVGA and its always a pleasure. However, if it plows through the 10 years without issue I won’t think twice about the 60usd that I paid for the peace of mind.

There is 0 reason a GPU should only last 3-5 years

Maybe the fans. Maybe.

Those are replaceable — cheap replacement fans on amazon or eBay.

You should easily get 7-10 years or more out of a respectable GPU - same as a respectable motherboard. Caps will leak and fail eventually. Should last tens of thousands of hours at any rate.

My 9700 Pro RIP 2007 @ 5 years old
My 8800Ultra RIP 2011 @ 4 years old (too much Crysis!)
A radeon 5870 that I installed in my uncles computer lasted about 6 years

I killed a couple of brand new MSI lightnings, but that was from OC'ing PCI lanes....OK it was FOUR MSI lightnings and newegg returns was NOT HAPPY lol never overclock the PCI lanes on a quadfire build...heck never OC PCIE lanes period!

As a rule I like to now "hit it and quit it" with GPUs and sell and upgrade once new come out...but I do have a Titan Pascal getting long in tooth in my backup rig.

Sounds to me you are killing all these GPUs, nothing wrong with dialing back once you've hit a stable oc.

I never overclocked the 9700 pro and the 8800 ultra was under water with a very mild OC. I do live in shitty Florida so maybe its the humidity or dust or too much pron...i dunno.

Now the MSI lightnings I did inadvertently murder with stupidity over PCIE lane OC......Fried all four in quadfire like Ted Bundy......NEVER OC PCI lanes, the juice aint worth the squeeze.

I can believe the humidity definitely had its hand in some of that, I lived in Deerfield Beach and lost plenty to sticky dust.

3 years ehhh... I bought a used 1060 6Gb after the crypto crash, worked well in the HTPC/Emulator box. Sold it three months ago and the individual is still cranking away.

Hell my HD5550 was still working as if last year just needed to replace the fans.

I have already made my move!

I am very excited for BigNavi.

While I am well aware it is not as powerful (potentially, we will have to see this time) than the 3090(ti?), gaming isn't about peak absolute cutting threshold of insanity FPS.

Being a very dedicated nVidia fan over the years, having owned every generation of nvidia GPU since the gtx8800'ish days, I also owned a few Radeons in between.

My latest card was a 2080ti and while it was a monster of a card, after selling it, and placing my 5600xt in my 3960x machine as a temp card, I am VERY impressed with how smooth this card feels compared to the nVidia. Yes the 2080ti could pump out some serious performance but it felt like a drag racer, ran hard as hell, shook hard, and came in faster than the other car, but the ride was not luxury at all. The 5600xt being much weaker in the performance arena, feels like a nice fast Audi or some other luxury performance model. It is smooth as shit between shifts (frames), the colors are better and more refined, and the card just makes gaming feel more ... natural? to the eyes. Hard to qualitatively describe the sensation of switching from beast mode 2080ti to the little workhorse that can 5600xt.

Anyways I am NOT going to jump on the 3090ti immediately. I am going to wait it out for Big Navi - the biggest model of the 3 or whatever they are coming out with.

Again I want to reiterate it isnt about brutal top end performance in as much as it is about the experience and I guarantee BigN will NOT be a slouch. I am not hoping for this or that with the card. I am just hoping it is significantly capable of offering me another choice other than Huang's stuff all the damn time.

I'm sorry but I don't believe this for a second.
90's are calling you back.

Put up my RTX 2080 Super and a SF750 for sale locally.

Hoping I'll be able to change those two parts into a RTX 3080!

My plan is the same as it was. I'm going to check out the reveal and look for performance/price/features (HDMI 2.1) that match what I want.
If it does, I'll order one immediately and try to sell my 2080Ti online the next day.

...Well, at least assuming the cards are actually available immediately/soon. I'm not about to do without a video card for more than a few weeks.
