The official Twitter account for the Mafia game series from 2K has revealed a teaser for an upcoming anthology including the three Mafia games. The 30 second teaser shows off characters featured from all three games with what looks like a remastering of the first two. Hopefully if the first two games are ported to a new engine they still retain all the little details that were lost in Mafia III. The details of the trilogy will be revealed next Tuesday May 19 at 1600 UTC according to the tweet.

I JUST played through part 3.
It was fun, but near the end it got a bit repetitive, and didn't "feel" like a Mafia game, it felt more like GTA.

Though if they remaster 1 & 2, I'm definitely going to buy this.
The only one I bought was Mafia 1 on PC back in the day. Got Mafia 2 when I got my video card, and Mafia 3 via Playstation Plus.

I'll see if I can find any - the link that Armenius posted above doesn't work for me.

That's good news, though. I would love to replay that game with modern graphics.
Yes, seems like they took the store page down. I guess someone jumped the gun with the tease today when it should have probably been put up after the reveal next week.

If they fix that race you do in the first game I'll get this if the price is right, even though I already have all three. HATED that mission and I did that little cheat to be able to continue on with the game.

Everyone says that, but I remember when I first played it, I beat the race without cheating.

I just did not have that kind of luck with it. It's also a game I haven't played since 2002, but I do remember the pain I went through with that mission, being part of the reason I didn't go back and play it again like I do all my other old games. Maybe I should re-install and try it again?

Maybe. Or, wait for the remaster.

I really hope they keep the remake true to Mafia 1. Modernize the controls and all that, but make the cars still feel "real". Make them go the speed of cars of that era, make them struggle to get up hills, make the player follow traffic laws, etc. I loved that sense of "realism" from the original game and how it really made you feel like you were a part of that city. You weren't just speeding through the streets driving like a maniac, you had to make sure you didn't attract too much attention. And for the remaster of 2 there is one thing I care about: Leave the car handling alone. 2's driving system was great and the developers do not need to mess with it.

Ooooooh Yea, I'm all over this especially 1, it's been foreeeverrrrrrrr since I've played it. Remaster would be so great!

Mafia II: Definitive Edition and Mafia III: Definitive Edition are out now, and are also available as a free upgrade to owners of the originals. From the launch trailers it doesn't look like any improvements were made. Will have to take a closer look.

Mafia: Definitive Edition launches August 28 and is confirmed as a complete remake. It promises "dramatically improved and expanded visuals and gameplay." Because of this, this version will not be free to owners of the original. This is the same trailer that was leaked earlier in the thread.

Mafia: Trilogy official launch trailer, which is actually identical to the teaser...

Mafia: Definitive Edition is $39.99: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1030840/Mafia_Definitive_Edition/
Don't have any of them? Get all 3 for $60

That's a bargain, it's a great series (part 3 was meh, but still decent.)
Looks like you get a $0.40 discount on the trilogy if you already own the originals :cat:

They actually did fix the race to make it easier in one of the last patches for the game but I don't think that was until well after launch.

It seemed really easy after the patch but that might have had to do with how many times I did that race in my first playthrough before beating it.

Looks like we all get Mafia 2 Definitive Edition for free if we have the original in our Steam Library. It is around 45GB so I assume they did a lot of HD textures and the like for it. So glad I didn't play it a few months back as this was just around the corner.

Currently playing Mafia III classic version I bought from 'gog' and am a few hours in, so far it's not bad but it's also not Mafia I or II. I like the story and cutscenes at least. I wonder if the remaster will fix what feels to me like consolized (meaning not much to adjust) graphics options and fix the clunky controls and kinda clunky graphics?

Just fired up Mafia 2 definitive and it ran like complete garbage in the benchmark. The very beginning didn't start off too bad but then I noticed the framerate got lower and lower and GPU usage actually kept dropping more and more. I even started dropping into the 40s and 30s with GPU usage only around 30%.

Well it turns out to be the good ole unoptimized piece of shit physx that's the problem . Even though there is no physx option listed in the settings it apparently is on by default at least on highest settings. I went into the Nvidia control panel and set it to run on the CPU and it runs like it should now. And yes I said the CPU as when it runs on the GPU it just drops the frame rate and the GPU usage like it's done in many games especially Borderlands Pre-Sequel.

Sweet! Good thing I haven't even touched Mafia 3 which is buried deep in my impenetrable and growing pile of shame! Might take it for a spin between rounds of X-Com 2 which is taking forever to finish.

Did you actually play the game or did you just run the benchmark?

It makes me chuckle that anyone who played the first Mafia like me all remember that friggin' race at the beginning of the game.

Sure enough, I see 2 and 3 definitive in my library. I can't wait to see what they did with the first game.

That was probably where I quit the game, never gotten into the series after that.

LOL, you weren't the only one but that's a real shame because it was much smoother sailing after that. I hope there are some certain refinements that happen in this update and not the least of which is that.

I never did get around to these, maybe something to wait on.

All I remember about Mafia is waking up every morning in the 2nd game, raiding Joe's fridge and going out into the world with my yellow Dick Tracy suit on and 6 beers and sandwiches in my belly.

And Joe screaming VITO TAKE YA FOOT OFF THA FUKIN ACCELERATA as we fly so far into the air that we slam into the 2nd story of a building and die instantly.
