If you are a new builder then this is meaningless, however OG builders understand that Chieftek was the coolest case EVAA, and at one point Alienware based their entire lineup on Chieftek. I am not sure if I like these offerings, but I cant help but pull for them. What do you all think and can we get some memories and maybe some pics from folks still using old school cases. I remember these things.

They seem pretty generic. Large, RGB, Glass, Rectangular...

Not terrible, Not great...

That was the problem their first go around on the market. I don't recall their cases being anything special. Antec, Lian-Li, Thermaltake, etc. all had cases that were memorable and highly successful. Most had more than one. That's why those companies still persist to this day. Chieftek really didn't have any hits that I remember.

Chieftec was the only decent case manufacturer making durable grey and black cases during the beige middle ages. They were extremely expensive and sought after here in central europe.
I couldn't belive my luck when I could finally afford one.

Had one of these, very forward looking, with tool less 3.5 HDD holders, and slide 5.25 drive mounts.
Lots of features that were unheard of in other cases that were available here.

The Chieftek Dragon was nothing special. That was a great case, but it was sold under a number of names including Antec. It wasn't remotely unique to Chieftek. It was an OEM case for Alienware at one point and a heavily altered variant was sold as the Xaser III I think.

I always hated the dragon, I thought it was fugly. But just because it was sold by many under licence doesn't make it any less good case.

I had the Antec version. In fact, I had a couple of them. It was a good case and one of the better options at the time. The case market was much worse than it is now in terms of options. That was the dawn of the market getting away from the beige box. In fact, many variants of that case were still beige. The Antec ones were beige and then later on black.

I had the Lian-Li V2000, but went with the Coolermaster Haf XB Evo as I liked its smaller size. (Gave me a lot more room under my desk )
Case i'm using now: (Generic pic)

(Sometimes smaller IS better )

Yay, another plastic box with shitty front ventilation. Just what we needed!

Damn, this is bringing back some nostalgia.

I still use my Antec 1080 AMG which is basically a Chieftec Dragon re-badge for my NAS. The thing looks as good and is is sturdy as it was when I bought it back in 2003. Can't say I'm still using any other PC parts from 17 years ago.

What a flashback: http://pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=1258&page=2

Mine is gray, like in the link posted.

Just bought a Chieftec Dragon last month. I wish they would remake the old lines in some small batch runs, especially in beige. It's getting too hard to find older cases for retro builds.

Cases? I thought this was about PSUs. It's been a while since I've heard the name, though. Good experience with their products back in the day.

Cases are all the same these days. Tall, black, sideways bays for hard drives, cable management. You can look at 10 cases in a price range and 9 of them are identical and one looks ridiculous.

It all started with the DVDs drives now in modern cases they removed the DVD drive slot for most all cases then added more airflow stuff in the front and the top making them all look the same. Now most cases have only two HDD spots on the bottom of the case because everyone needs HDD drives. I like what they did with SSD drives and just mounted them either behind the motherboard or on the back of the motherboard tray.

I housed a dual P3-1000 system in a Chieftec back in the day.

Comes in a close second to my Thermaltake Shark as my favorite old school chassis.

Hopefully these live up to the namesake.

Have one sitting outside, for many years, don’t know what shape it’s in. May go out and get a picture i am sure rust and rodents have taken it over.

My dragon is currently housing my 2700x and vega 64. I guess it has housed at least 7 or 8 builds. It will always be my case until the next form factor. Im sure the pretty rgb stuff is nice behind the solid door. Lol

These cases just scream 2020. Very generic looking.. RGB fans, lots of tempered glass, all black, not a very original design. The interior of the case looks really crappy, could be wrong but it looks like the same kind of flimsy thin steel that thermaltake uses on their low end products.

MEH.

Yeah I have of ton of those cheiftec cases, I have 1 yellow and 1 blue cheiftecs, I also have 2 green one red and 1 purple Alienware version, plus 3 beige and one gunmetal antec version. One of my favorite cases besides Lian-Li back in the day.

No DFI and ChiefTek are not the same. If you have to ask you are not OG from the 90s LOL!

DFI was famous for the even more famous LanParty line of Motherboards. Yellow PCI slots etc... miss them dearly.

Young adults even today have no idea what a Lan Party is anyways

Is that like a Lemon Party?
