Grim Misadventures here with another report!

Last time 16, we went down memory lane to review how much has changed in Grim Dawn in 2019 (hint: it was a lot).

As you know, v1.1.6.0 is just around the corner. Later this month, to be exact! This is another major addition to the game filled with balance changes and improvements.

In the forefront are of course the upcoming Monster Totems 127, which are sure to spice up your Campaign exploration.

That’s not all, of course, as there is always MOAR.

Some things are more subtle…

We had some fun creating these as they offer some new twists on old formulas.

If you want to see these items in action, we did a livestream recently where we showed a work-in-progress of all the items:

Grim Dawn V1.1.6.0 Preview
This update does not mark the end of the line for Grim Dawn though. With our Xbox port still on the way, we are pushing more performance improvements to the PC version and new content still awaits!

We’ve already teased you with this image to make those gears turn, but we’re not stopping there.

The Shattered Realm will continue to expand as well, with more shards, including new Shattered Guardian Domains.

Question: Has the balancing passes made the game more or less enjoyable ?

Question: Has the balancing passes made the game more or less enjoyable ?

Depends on whether you prefer true balance or certain builds being OP exploits....

Me, I'll take an even playing field any day of the week.

God this game is so good. Restarted a new game on a new system, normal was too easy, so did expert. playing a shieldbreaker. so far have only developed the demolitionist but damn he wrecks everything except maybe the end of level bosses. so far using the same strategy as last time I played. Choose a damage type, pick only skills, armor, weapons that multiply the damage and associated affliction. A bit of a glass cannon but the demolitionist can destroy most everything before they get near.

I've noticed some interesting changes in the game. Looks like they now have a day night cycle, which means it is annoying at times. Also a danger zone thingy which is actually pretty cool. Some decent QoL changes but inventory is still annoying the deal with. I guess it is time to drop yellows (L35), although I still use a few.

GrimUI-X will remedy the "inventory problem" by given you a much bigger stash and bigger bags etc.
(I can't play the game without it anymore - I use the Vanilla pack so it still looks like the original)

You can use Grim Internals to disable the day/night cycle:
https://forums.crateentertainment.com/t/tool-grim-internals/38773
And here's Rainbow Filter for good measure (helps with identifying the loots - esp damage types etc):

Glad you're enjoying the game again man!

When does the next major update come out and will it be the last major update ?

I just want a sequel it probably would be the most popular game ever on Steam.
I'm not sure why they are wasting time on that city builder game can't be a big market for that.

Eh, they probably need a break. No matter how much you love to do something, there can be too much.

1.1.6.0 will arrive before the end of the month....

A 3rd Loyalist Pack should come out around the same time (to support and encourage the devs to keep working)

- Based on the information I've been able to gather, we should expect additional updates for the rest of this year 👍

Anyone playing this with a gamepad? I am looking at picking this up if lazy couch mode is viable.

New patch out today, looks like lots of buffs and some fixes, don't see any nerfs at a quick glance

LOL comprehension fail 1.1.5.0 link removed.

Weird, I went to play this today and it's a stuttery show. I tried x64, normal, and DX9. I pulled back on the eye candy and still stutters. I'd be hard pressed to believe a 1070 ti can't hack it.
It played very smooth with the 4770k and the 1070 ti under Pop OS. Surely win 10 and a 2700x would be an improvement.

Off to do research.....

Gotta love grim dawn developers, they are passionate about their game and it shows through with their updates. The new additions... just rain tons of loot. All garbage so far but... I'd imagine it might get nerfed

As for win 10, if you were not on it, I’d recommend it solved a lot of problems in a lot of games for me.

Here's what I did to ensure buttery-smoothness.

Install and run Processor Lasso to force the game to only use real cores, not SMT. (I set it to the bottom 4 real cores out of my 6 because Win loves gobbling Core 0)
- for you, set it to just use cores 6, 8, 10, and 12 (on a 2700x)

That should help quite a bit. Using this method I play over 60 fps at 4K using Differed rendering with anti-aliasing set to off (cuz fug FXAA)

I will give that a whirl. Thanks

I just checked my Processor Lasso and make sure "ProBalance" isn't checked (that's their proprietary "we're somehow smarter than microsoft" core management crap)

This method of only using real cores + Differed-rendering should help big-time. (it did for my 3600x)

A rainbow here and a rainbow there - it must be quite an effort for everyone to update every mod for every patch and then for every player to redownload each mod and install them after each patch. Would be nice if the next patch (call it 1.1.6.0.1) contained options to enable the most popular mod features.

Can you guys tell the difference between the x86 bit client and the X64 bit?
I was switching back and forth between them.

The question is very confusing. x86 is an architecture; 64 bit is more of an operating system thingy.

I have noticed no difference in these options

On that note, Rainbow hasn't been implemented due to color-blind player issues.

GrimUI-X is a no-go cuz the devs doesn't want bigger bags/stash.

As for Grim Internals, they already implemented auto-pickup and health bars.... Which is about all they're willing to do. (Although skill/potions cooldown timers would be grrreeeaaatttttt)

I can't believe they won't do things due to small population colour blind issue; why not just make the entire game black and white with that argument ?

color blind does not mean seeing in black and white, there are different types and degrees of color blindness, some can be connected by wearing certain types of sunglasses which filter out a specific light frequency.

Let us not forget, this game was released in February of 2016. It is miraculous we are STILL getting content updates AND the mod scene is flourishing like it is.

Yes but the last dlc was this year so perhaps it is not that amazing; having said that they do a good job supporting the game ;)

Forgotten Gods was the last DLC and it came out in March 2019.

Anyways, I'm glad to see others are continuing to enjoy the game here on [H] (y)

Welp, gone through the 3 difficulties again, from scratch, and malmoth in one. still my build is absolute trash. wondering if it is worth the grind to max it out. most of the bosses I can handle well, nemesis enemies though can wreck me, lol
