I'm considering the pixel 4xl, but I'm very disappointed with the lack of free photo backup and the lack of the fingerprint scanner.
Should I get the One plus 7 pro instead?
Currently I have a pixel 2xl and my wife wants it (she has the Nexus 6p)

i have seen a few water tests. The OnePlus 7 Pro fails that very quickly. So definitely don’t take it swimming.Yeah, I'd go with the OP 7T or 7 Pro. They still get relatively fast updates, are water resistant enough for anyone not swimming with their phones (prolly just as much as an IP rated phone, they just didn't want to pay for the rating, which I agree with), and the camera is actually pretty close to the Pixels at least in lit photos and in videos. Can't go wrong with it IMO.
Google Pixel 4 XL one month later: Is it worth $699?

That's the Black Friday pricing.
Finally pulled the trigger! I went with a 128GB 4XL and Google Fi, so I'll get 50% of the purchase price back in service credit. By my calculations, I'll get about 18 months of GF service at no cost. Not a bad deal.Commander, great to hear that! Am crossing my fingers you will have good battery results like us other [H] users who have it.

No, I've been on T-mobile since 2012. The 50% credit offer is good for new GF customersWere you always on Google Fi?
I'm on a T-mobile prepaid plan for $50/month. It has unlimited text and talk with 10GB LTE data. Im on wifi 95% of the time and never use more than 200-400 MB data/month.T-Mobile!?
I don't know what your present T-Mobile plan is and how much monthly data you use, but I do know that for a single user Google Fi costs $80 per month for using 6 GB or more of data.

A T-Mobile single user post paid Essential plan with unlimited data is $60 month (with auto pay). That's $20 a month less than Google Fi

I went with the white XL 128 GB. I had the Note 10+ for a few days and the screen was gorgeous but the deep Samsung software integration is annoying and Bixby is a steaming pile of trash. I know it can be disabled and buttons remapped but I’d rather just go for the stock Google Android experience. That and the crazy good camera. I’ve had two Google phones before and I loved them, but Android wasn’t quite mature enough yet and was still lacking a bunch of apps that were only on iOS at the time. Now I have zero reason to use iOS. And it was $200 off on Google’s site, plus $350 for my old iPhone. So yay and such. Finally pulled the trigger! The GF plan I got is $20/month unlimited text and talk plus $10/GB LTE. My bill will be cut almost in half by going to GF.
I wanted a white one, too, but they're out of stock until the last week of December.I went with the white XL 128 GB. As for data, I’m on my family’s unlimited business plan through Verizon paying 20 a month so I have no reason to switch anytime soon.
That sucks, man. Mine isn’t shipping until Christmas, so I have to wait a while.I wanted a white one, too, but they're out of stock until the last week of December.
You have more patience than me. I'm like Veruca Salt. That sucks, man. Mine isn’t shipping until Christmas, so I have to wait a while.

Nice. I just finally finished transferring literally all of my Apple crap over to Google stuff so I won't have to worry about setting up too much up when I get it. Also bought a USB Type C flash adapter for my 512 GB Samsung EVO MicroSDXC card for extra phone storage.
Damn, I kinda want to return mine for a white one now.The shipped changed from the end of the month to this Thursday.

The white does look nice:Damn, I kinda want to return mine for a white one now.
Yes it does! I guess it really doesn't matter since I keep my phone in a case, anyway.
I bought a clear and thin Spigen gel case because I like how it looks.Yes it does! I guess it really doesn't matter since I keep my phone in a case, anyway.
Deal going on at Bestbuy right now. Buy a pixel 4/4XL new or refurb and there’s a $200 BB gift card for you.
Yeah, saw some people price matching Amazon's new price yesterday too for $618, plus the $200 BB gift card. Damn good deal for a decent phone, but this phone would have to be nearly free for me to buy it at this point since it's missing some key hardware that I want in my next phone. I think the 4a will be a better overall phone despite slightly lower specs IMO if just for better battery life and FP scanner, but I'll prolly go OP or Samsung to replace my 2 XL this year.
The 4a is definitely on my short list right now. Honestly, I might not even upgrade seeing as my 3a is running like a champ. The 3a made me not even entertain the idea of picking up a 4 when it came out. I've bought the new Pixel each year since the OG Pixel (actually before then with the Nexus 5X). The only other phone I'd be interested in at this point is the S11e or whatever it will be called. OP is still iffy with my Verizon MVNO. I have to jump through hoops to get "CDMA-less" enabled on my account before it will work and 90% of the customer service people say they can't do it.
Yeah, maybe they can finally pull their heads out of their asses. Honestly though, I thought the Pixel 4 XL was a great phone overall, but the continued massive neglect of video on the phone made me switch back to the iPhone again. They even showcased their video as a selling point on their website ... and even with professional videographers using their phones to try and show it off, the quality was still choppy, laggy, hot garbage. The lag is something I will never understand because I had the Note 10+ as well and the video was buttery smooth. Not to mention the fact that literally every other flagship now can shoot 40K 60 FPS except for the Pixel ... and their excuse is that their top end storage of 128 GB just isn't enough storage for that option. Here's an idea ... how about stop selling 128 GB as a max storage option when every other flagship has four times that storage? Why Google thinks they can get away with selling a mediocre-specced phone when everyone else is crushing them for the same price is beyond me. You'd think Google would want to showcase their technical prowess ... but all they're doing is just showing off their greed. They have a fuggin' quantum computer they get to play around and yet they can't make a phone that can take smooth video. Their priorities are all over the place.Looks like Verizon may be dropping the Pixel line from their store.
Maybe they'll get serious about hardware now and stop cutting corners in design, specs, and features, or at least price their phones appropriately if they don't improve all of that.
The fact that everyone else has caught up to night mode and photo quality, especially Apple, it doesn’t really leave much to be desired in regards to the Pixel line ... and since photos seems to be the only thing Google cares about, it’s all a bit meh.I'm at the point where I've given up on the Pixel line and am hunting for something else. They simply don't seem committed to anything except the camera, yet the pricing is on par with phones that are a full tech generation ahead. I hate that I'll be losing the lean Android experience, but I figure I'm enough of a tinkerer to hide/disable enough bloatware to mostly mimic it.

That's good news for Google.AP has retracted that story as it isn't true.
