Borderlands 3

I've always played the soldier class, but am probably going with Zane or Flak this time. I might end up just starting a pair of games and seeing which special attacks I prefer. There doesn't seem to be a slow brute type character this time.

I also am a little unsure. I liked the hunter from the first game

I was not enthused about the characters from the second game. Not sure which class fits the most in this one.

I used the ledge and a Rocket Launcher on Craw the adds never come after me.
Probably one of the best ways to learn about splash damage in a game.

I'm so on the fence about first character I'd gladly use a random button. First one of the BL series that I haven't looked at one or maybe two and said "THAT ONE!!1!".

Hmm.. I always loved the Revolvers and Sniper Rifles in BL1 - which meant Mordecai (the Hunter) in that game; I'll have to see which of these new lot might be closest to a Gunslinger as far as perks - Zane maybe? I haven't looked at the skill trees at all.

BL2 there really was no equivalent to Mordecai, for me mostly because the gunplay was so weak - toy space guns with no weight or "oomph" to the shots - even on Jakobs (non-elemental) guns. It looks like BL3 brings the oomph back so I'm looking forward to checking out the new revolvers.

I know one thing is for sure not going to put 400 hours in this game I had 171 hours in BL 2 and that was more then enough for me.

With Moze you get extra Height when int he Mech and you can Melee in the Mech besides shooting stuff.

Game is updating in Epic

Update: False alarm just a update

It's live now restart epic and you can launch

Game defaults to your system language, I guess change your system language?

Also 21:9 - fucked up cutscenes - bottom and right half are cut-off. rest of the game plays fine. Think I'll be playing on my 4K tv for now.

If you switch the game to DirectX 12 it warns you to be prepared for a long load time the next time you start the game (you have to restart to apply DirectX 12). For me it took 2 minutes to get thru the loading on a nvme ssd. Folks on reddit reporting 10+ minutes. Running benchmarks now and will report back

Benchmarks ran in DirectX 12 mode with Badass preset, everything maxed, vsync off.

3840x2160 - 48.8FPS
3440x1440 - 70.1FPS
2560x1440 - 78.6FPS

Fixed the Ultrawide cutscene issue.

If you're playing on ultrawide - disable FidelityFX Sharpening - It's causing issues with cutscenes not displaying correctly.

Anyone else getting massive fps drops every time they zoom in? Running at 1440p with an RTX 2080.

I've been hip firing and meleeing a lot to avoid it. :(

Edit: Reddit suggests setting overall quality to Very Low and then manually adjusting the other settings to what you want, but that didn't work for me. Even if I leave everything at Low it still happens.

I'm seeing the long load now. Is there any way to "reset" this game's configuration outside of the game itself?

Just turned level 5 game is unlike anything I seen except it's kinda hard on the eyes think original Rage after a while because everything is in focus and bright after a hour or two. Plays super smooth though compared to the last game even finally got some good guns Zane is pretty fun you can send the drone out to get the stuff you don't want to run down. The Psycho Bandits are super kocky lol "Eat my A#@" Gearbox doesn't care.

I see I didn't hide the photo mode thing while taking a screenshot o well.

Location of Photomode and Save Files not sure how to take a screenshot X-box controller doesn't seem to be working for it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The screenshots saved from Photo Mode should appear in a Screenshots folder located in the same folder location that your save data is stored. By default, this should look something like this:

C:\Users\Username\Documents\My Games\Borderlands 3\Saved\Screenshots

Ia the sound kind of muted to any one else? Like guns have no ompf to them. Eveything is just not intense. Hard to explain.

Went siren again, went siren in 1 and 2, although i miss being able to olay as claptrap. Absolutely loved playing as claptrap.

This game legit runs like shit for how it looks honestly.

It's barely a 60 fps lock at higher settings with an overclocked 6700k and GTX 1080. 1440p resolution.

Somehow this shit is considerably heavier than games like BF5 and Gears 5. Madness.

edit:
I tried DX11 vs DX12.

Turning on the performance counter, DX12 seems clearly _much_ more CPU efficient, at the cost of some GPU performance. CPU ms is like literally half of what it is in DX11.

Except this game is seemingly GPU bound as absolute fuck so it's seemingly a net loss.

Sounds good to me but I have my AE-5 on neutral using S350DB Edifiers. If the gunshots are too in the front it would drive a person nuts after a while. Music playing monster noises and character dialogue overlapping each other.

I noticed using a mouse it was choppy but was smooth with a controller.

I guess muddy woukd be a good way to describe the sound. Other games dont sound like this.

yikes. hate to wonder what I'd get on my 1070 at 1440p. I can play bf5 maxed with 80 fps.

heres the borderlands 3 requirements:
RECOMMENDED SPECS 1440P Gaming

  • OS – Windows 7/8/10 (latest service pack)
  • Processor – AMD Ryzen™ 5 2600 (Intel i7-4770)
  • Memory – 16GB RAM
  • Graphics card – AMD Radeon™ RX 590 (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB)
  • HDD – 75 GB
no way a 1060 is gonna get 60 fps

Performance issues will be improved with patches and drivers.

Overall I am VERY happy and impressed. I'm going to have a lot of fun with this. :)

Resolution scaling only working in increments of 25% seems odd. DX12 takes forever to load after every restart. Anywhere from 2-3 minutes and it straight up froze one time. It also performs poorly on my setup. I can't even maintain 60fps at 75% scaling, which DX11 does no sweat. Yet DX12 is required for HDR to work. Rocking DX11 for now. Game looks okay, but the visuals don't justify the horsepower needed.

HDR works for me in DX11. What issue are you having with it?

I had more fun playing the Last Remnant today actually this game needs some shadows unless it's just the starting area.

Seems a bit meh so far. Its fine and all that, just more of the same, been there done that.

So what kind of frame time am i trying to achieve? I know lower is better but there has to be a sweet spot im on a gtx1080 at 1440p an i would like a consistent 70 fps. Any pointers? or just take hours turning things off an on?

Been playing around with settings to find out which one is the culprit. Didn't take me long to find that Volumetric fog is the killer. Turned it down to medium and I got 89FPS in the benchmark compared to 70 with it on ultra, at 3440x1440

Not sure why, but things are acting wonky in fullscreen mode for me. It keeps trying to revert to 1080p and disable HDR. Swapping over to borderless fixes it.
On the audio front, the game uses Atmos and does a nice job with the positional stuff.
As a game, it's more of the same thus far...which is fine by me.

so it says it was auto disabled and I can't enable it... wonder why. the game does sound absolutely terrible to me. I dont get it.

Right click the volume icon in the task bar, click open sound settings, on the right click sound control panel, find your playback device and go to properties, go to spatial sound tab, enable windows sonic for headphones, go back into the game and enable it (can do this with the game open)

this gives a pretty decent run down on the performance hit from each of the settings but yeah volumetric fog is the biggest performance hit.
