It's no different than any other religion. Same concept.it is truly amazing. While alot are legit. I feel like people start go fund me for anything these days. Like they say if you can appeal to people's emotions you can sell them on anything as long as they can afford it. This is just whatever you can afford type of fund lol!
I'd like to test that theory, perhaps I should set up a page myself for that educational purpose.Money corrupts.
Heh. Most people have no trouble earning $400K over time. However, when suddenly given that amount at once, a lot of things go through a person's mind and their true color shows. Greed is one of the seven deadly sins.I'd like to test that theory, perhaps I should set up a page myself for that educational purpose.
Police often do not need evidence of a crime to seize assets. If a cop finds you have a fat wad of cash in your pocket, it can be seized. YOU have to prove it was obtained legally. They don't need to prove it was obtained illegally."Was said to have been purchased . . .". So not proven to have been purchased in a court of law?
Ugh. Though McClure and D'Amico are probably scum, by what right does the government have to come barging in and seizing property before a single charge has been brought against them?

I'm disgusted by this couple, Even if that money will be wasted on drugs, they should have handed it over but they didn't by using that drug addictions excuse. They are already planning on what to do with that $200K and thinking up of a way to negotiate with the homeless guy to keep half of it. I know for a fact they don't think he deserves all of it for one second.
That, and they probably justified taking the money when they realized how much stress a junkie can bring into their lives .... the old mantra: the road to hell is paved with good intentions.the couple wasn't expecting that donations would get that high...when it did greed took over...
Neither side deserves the money. No reason to give a known drug addict (regardless of his past military service) $400,000 and no reason for the couple to keep the money. If anything they should have donated it to a worthwhile cause after realizing that the vet was a shitbag.
There definitely has to be some form of vetting.GoFundMe is now saying they will give this guy his entire $400K.
Which is cool but at the same time they need to do this to maintain trust in their platform would would think.
Why are you mad people donated their money to a homeless man?
So. It's my money. If I want to give it to a drug addict homeless man, that is my right. You have no say in how I spend my money.Because he's a drug addict. There's no reason to give drug addicts more money to enable their habits.

You need to get the perspective correct. It is the couple's actions that are reprehensible. Not the homeless guy. You need to stop focusing on the homeless guy.
I'm sure the couple's brand new shiny BMW should give you some much needed perspective. I suggest to you once again to get your perspective correct and stop focusing on the homeless vet.Maybe YOU need to get your perspective correct...people didn't donate to the homeless man, they donated to the couple to assist the homeless man IIRC. This wasn't the homeless guy's gofundme page, it was the couples. I already said they shouldn't keep the money, but I can see why they don't want to give the guy more money.

Not siding with either side here but since GFM said they'll cover the 400k.. If a self admitted drug user overdosed after they gave him $$$.. who is the enabler? Isn't that like giving a match to a pyro?
Do they need to seize the car as evidence? It isn't a frickin' bag of cocaine that can be flushed down the toilet. There is already enough of a paper trail when it comes to proof-of-purchase to be used at a later date in a trial.
Property seizures are my biggest gripes against the government. For a supposed ownership society, we really don't own anything. It's all subject to government confiscation at any moment with the flimsiest of justifications.
People these days are the proverbial slow-boiled frog when it comes to accepting the government's growing power over us. How this is okay with anyone just boggles my mind.
The government should not be able to seize so much as a dust bunny from under my couch until after I've been proven guilty in a court of law.
concerned how he will spend it....create a trust...bank auto transfer 3 to 5k every month to him till its gone.
walk away!

Because he's a drug addict. There's no reason to give drug addicts more money to enable their habits. I'm not saying this couple is good or noble, but when I first read about this story maybe 2 weeks ago, it sounded like he was just blowing the money on drugs despite the couple's efforts to help him and they got sick of funding his drug habit.
Now obviously you don't keep the money, but I can see why this homeless guy doesn't deserve another dime.
I'm sure the couple's brand new shiny BMW should give you some much needed perspective.
WTF. Are you defending the scumbag couples? It's a 230i, if they would have came an taken the couple's brand new shiny Honda Accord Touring 2.0T would you be pointing it out like it's a big deal?
From the OP: "search warrant was executed early this morning by . . .
They have a warrant and the car might be evidence for the likely fraud charges. So far, doesn't sound like the usual civil forfeiture shakedown. Sounds like none of the original parties can be trusted with large amounts of money or assets. The couple apparently lost over $200,000 and the vet lost a camper and most of the money he did get.

People are easily corruptible; money is just one influence, but a common one. This is one of our primary flaws that prevent us from living together in peace and harmony in large numbers.Money corrupts.
That’s it, I’m putting up a go fund me page for myself.
No one is defending them. But what does a 35k car say about them? It's not like they went out and bought a 200k vehicle with the money, the fact that they have a BMW has no bearing on it, it could have been a 35k Honda Accord. Would you say well of course they stole that money and ran out and bought a Honda with it, those scum bags!
What charges can be filed anyway?
