Kingdom Come: Deliverance

LOL this is some funny stuff the commentary while fighting and the war music in the background. The game does have Alchemy though so you could cook up Poison and explosion potions for makeshift magic stuff.

I'm not sure if it's youtube, but that combat looks extremely janky and "uncomfortable" to actually play.
I agree with you, but I'm reserving judgement because it looks like a fresh new take on how medieval combat can be done.

Part of this I'm sure is my love of Mount & Blade, which also features original yet similarly "janky & uncomfortable" combat, but manages to shine and be a unique gem.

I thought the Green Screen stuff the Call of Duty devs do was good these guys have access to a whole stash of midevil weapons probably replicas but whatever.
If they have some serious good RPG stuff in this game it should do well I mean questing like in Ultima Online those Knights in video look pretty Boss.

I would be worried if it's too realistic though where it gets boring after a while. This game needs some mystic stuff and secert lore and magic spells not sure if their is magic in this game that is one part that made Ultima Online good was just trying to learn each spell with whatever circle of spells you were trying to learn.

There is 0 magic/fantasy elements in the game. That was one of the founding points of it in the first place, that it was an rpg set in a historical setting based on reality and not magic and fantasy. There are plenty of middle ages themed games with magic but there aren't many at all that are just straight up historical with no added fantasy stuff.

Just because there isn't magic doesn't mean it has to be "boring" or anything.

History is often just as interesting if you delve into it.

I hope the sounds can be modded, as is the impact sounds lack the sense of mass. I'm sure with their amount of attention to detail, that they went into a sound studio and recorded actual weapons, but it's still odd sounding.

I think this is a big part of it. Clealry some work yet to be done on the sound and music. Maybe the AI as well? Something about the fights never made me feel like those guys actually wanted the player dead lol

It is still half a year from release. This is the time for polish before the game goes gold.

this game looks phenomenal from a gameplay and graphics standpoint...my most anticipated game of 2018...Hunt Showdown (Early Access) is #2...not coincidentally both games use CryEngine which I've always felt to be the best engine from an eye candy standpoint...Frostbite is close but CryEngine games always look amazing

can the OP or a mod change the title of the thread to Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Is it rated M and do they deliver on the "Come" aspect of it?

Looks just as good at Gladiator which was a breakthrough game as far as positional swinging the sword and blocking.

That video was pretty darn entertaining. Getting excited for this game!

The graphics are astounding, the combat seems to be shaping up. I still feel it needs work in the audio department though. These sound effects could feel more visceral. Prime example is the "mercy kill." The sound effects don't quite match what I expected to hear.

Sounding really cool!

This is all tied together by a strong historical base in which your character, Henry, and his story, is fictional, but the surroundings are an accurate interpretation of what really happened. Open up a history book and you can spoil the ending for yourself. No surprises that a full-time historian on the team keeps everything in check - it was their idea to make the 15th-century-style map.

sounds fine but I don't play games for historical accuracy...games are a way of escaping reality...I don't think most games would be as fun if it stuck to being accurate to real life

"Infinity Ward is also developing a version of the game for the Wii which features a 17 pound controller shaped like an M249 that you must carry at all times and can not fire without a direct order"

I think the point of a game is to do stuff in it that you can't or not allowed to do in real life. And the more realistic they can make the illusion the better. Games are a way of escaping reality, not realism!

Looks good one of the more Realistic games out there just wonder if it will be a
snooze comes out next Month the immersion is there.

I don't know... I want this game to be good. My information overload has a lot of mixed feedback from the people who were in the beta and I'm being charitable. The combat looks like clunky as all hell and I know the hardcore folks like this but looking through helmet visor slits and things like that are subjective and I hope there are menu options.

When we talk about "realistic" in games more often than not in tends to "tedium" and boring as hell. Not fun. Fun is why I play videogames ultimately. ;)

Again, I really want this game to be an exception. It definitely has potential. :)

To be fair: The devs have been on Steam and other places saying all info is based on 4+ month old beta build including all the videos in this thread and on this page. They say the final product apparently is going to be better to as yet an undetermined degree. They even suggested that beta folks would be "pleasantly shocked."

I hope so. I really want this to be good.

Good chance this could be boring but I think the achievement feeling you receive from finishing a quest will be out of the ballpark. Then again it could be so boring nobody wants to play the game..... I'm playing with a controller for sure just due to the combat which I haven't tried myself but it has full controller support.

I hate to mention this but here goes: I know everyone is hoping this is the next CDPR and the next Witcher 3. Maybe it will be. I hope so! :)

I'm not someone who goes skin flint and am willing to vote with my wallet to buy good games and support "the little guys" and so forth.

That being said: Considering that this isn't a AAA title by any means, I have to seriously question the $60 MSRP for this.
