Setting up my room scale now with 3 sensors... looking to make my first game purchase.. which title will work great for room scale??

I have the oculus with touch if that matters. Have steam account as well.

Good sized room.. 8x10 play area.

RoboRecall - LOVE IT!

umm..... also really like Obduction (Amazing title indeed)

Hrmmm there are a few others but those two are awesome. I think RoboRecall is by far the best!

I only have two sensors.

One of these days I am going to get 2 more to max it at 4 and put one in each corner of the room but I will have to get an acitve USB 3 powered extension cable or USB over ethernet extender or something because the cables aren't long enough

Yeah robo recall i got with the touch free.. great game no doubt, though need more no doubt hehe

Yeah 16.4' usb 3.0 active extensions are what people use to increase the distance on the sensors. Tricky part is extending the headmount display hmd.

People will find extending it 6' can be an issue.. i said screw it and went with a sure fire method using the vive link box as a powered repeater and 15' male to male hdmi 2.0 cable and a 15' male to male usb 3.0 cable.. works great but make sure to also buy a power adapter for it.. amazon will have info on what adapter.

The only other issue is having anough usb 3.0 ports and i needed a usb 3.0 4 port pcie card for that.. need 4 total for the rift with 3 sensors.. i hear you cant max out all 4 on the small 2x pcie card but works fine using 3 so far.

All thats left for me is to figure out how to hang the hmd cable to the ceiling as right now its on the floor in the way. :/

Issue with that is that the cable is comimg in from the front of room (in front of me) and not from the back of the room behind the user. My vr space is just outside of my pc room.

Anyways.. i need a new 1tb ssd so i have more room for games! Haha. Hopefully today i score one.

Wel now...

You can get one of this 2 or 3 or 4 etc... GB SSHD for gamers as they call em.

They are a std hdd but have a 32 or 64GB ssd cache portion on them. This might work well for a big bulky gaming drive.

I have a 960GB enterprise SSD for my games drive and I have a 400gb Intel nvme pcie for windows. I also have a 1tb Samsung HDD and I use Asus' ram cache to further boost everything else to nvme speeds.

Hope the suggestions help

RoboRecall as mentioned. Arizona sunshine, vanishing realms, trickster vr, thrill of the fight.
I am sure there are lots of awesome ones.

Maybe.. but was thinking of a samsung 850 1tb evo for a game drive. I have a 500gb evo now and a 512gb samsung 950 m.2 for the os.. using some space on that now for the oculus rift.. so its fast hehe.

Arizona sunshine is on the radar no doubt.. doubt my 8 and 12 year olds would want to play that though.. my 12 year old daughter was scared of robo recall haha.

So hopefully theres something they can enjoy.. thinking that job creator game.. mindcraft would be great but for some reason it wont play and says windows needs an update but my win10 pro 64bit is fully updated!

Yes i think im going to have rotate the sensors to have my back to the cord. Glad i atleast can.

Minecraft is legitimately outstanding in VR but it is the only game that makes me want to throw up insode my Oculus face piece due to VR sickness and its bad so I play MC in 2d looking at my LCD.

I think my favorite so far is good old doom 3 bfg. Robo recall is really good but doom 3 has legitimate atmosphere and is awesome having to use the flashlight and gun together. The graphics are a bit dated but nowhere near as bad as I expected given the age and that it wasn't designed for vr.

How are you running D3? Native or injected? Makes me want to run it now.

Try Unseen Diplomacy. It uses *all* available room space for one "endless" level, and it's really cheap, too.

The Budget Cuts demo is also really nice. I don't think that it *needs* room sale, but it sure does benefit from it.

Sounds like ill prob pass on that one! Haha

Ok so its a mod you pay for, for vr correct? So if i see it on oculus it be the mod or full game and mod? Wondering cause i do own the original.

Thanks! Ill check that out!

Also real quick.. to play steam vr on the oculus, is there anything special i need to do? Or does the game launch straight to the headset like any other game?

I now have my 1tb samsung evo installed and gota look up the hack to moce the games from the c drive to the new drive :)

Tonight ill be downloading a few new games!! Wife will prob end up smacking me.

Anyone playing Robo Recall on the Vive? Using Revive? Do you have to load Rift software, store etc.?

Full game and mod, the mod is free. You have to have the BFG edition.

My space atm is only like 8x10 :/ game states it need a min of 12x12.

Is Arizona a really good game? I have toyed with the idea of getting it but not sure I want to drop 40 bucks on it right now.

It's good, but I was more comfortable buying it when it was on sale for $29. You can always wait for a sale - the Steam summer sale is due around June and the Oculus store usually runs sales as well - there most likely will be one for Easter. Save up and stock up on a bunch of games then.

So far bought 3 games..

Job simulator
Unspoken
Arizona sunshine

Eying others but there made for the vive on steam.

Starting to get real depressed as ive spent a crapload of money on this cause i thought it was on par if not better then the vive.. seems like in the end theres close to 0 360 movement full room scale oculus games! Or should say good to great games worth good money.. is there even a handful of them on oculus for room scale?

Im not even done throwing money at this as i still yet to start buying something to hang the head display cable with.

Suckered in with a good price drop.. buy a 3rd sensor and a crapload of gear to rotoate my pc room around so i could get the usb extensions to reach the vr area, and last a $325 ssd drive to have more room for new games.. and wow.. in the end ill be playing games designed for the vive!

Who would of thought it???

Prob blew close to 2k.

Eclypse, you do realize that there are a boat load of games on Steam that are not just HTC Vive specific, right? I.E. You don't just have to buy your VR games at the Oculus store. Many VR games on Steam use the Oculus runtime and also natively support the Touch controllers. Try doing a search on the VR tag, then filter by games, Oculus HMD, and tracked motion controllers, and room scale. I'm seeing 323 games that result from that search/filters alone. Granted there are some crap games in the mix, but there are loads of good ones as well. Just browse and read through the reviews... Oculus only just began embracing the 360 roomscale concept with a 3rd sensor a few months ago... but there are lots of really good games on Steam that already do this. 300+ games is nothing to sneeze at and the list keeps growing... Don't limit yourself to just the Oculus store.

Yeah ive looked some.. most have bad reviews for using it with oculus as in getting them to work good enough with the touch.. guess will hunt threw it some more tonight.

I want room with a chair.. vanishing realms.. both are iffy with the touch.

Onward is gona happen no doubt.. prob be the first i try on steam.

Edit: The art of fight looks sweet.. no idea of room scale.. the movement sounds interesting but i hear its hard to find people online. :/

Robo Recall just got a patch to disable the teleport reorientation (except when teleporting onto those script trigger markers), making it much easier to play in room-scale, and since you've got a Rift + Touch, you don't have to pay a cent for it.

Onward is definitely a must, though if you're looking for something a bit faster-paced and more akin to Counter-Strike, try Pavlov.

Oh, yeah, and before I forget: COMPOUND! It's in alpha state, much like Gorn, and also ridiculously fun to play despite its current simplicity.

I think part of it's because the enemies use slow projectiles you can duck and weave around as you run and gun, forcing you to put your room-scale movement freedom to good use. Ever played Police 911 in the arcade, or its PS2 port (Police 24/7)? It's kinda like that with the dodging, but with free movement.

Love robo recall!

Compound looks awesome but can i get it to work with oculus? Have to read up on that... edit: guess so as it shows it uses both oculus and vive! :)

COMPOUND uses SteamVR, so if you know how to get that going with your Rift, you're good to go.

I'd recommend it anyway, seeing as most SteamVR games work fine with the Rift + Touch, only barring potential control mapping decisions due to the radically different controller designs between the Vive wands and Oculus Touch.

I played Rec Room paintball. Thought that was fun... and it was freeeeeEEEE.

Nothing like crawling around your room on the ground.

Dodgeball in RecRoom is amazing!!!! Just make sure you have lots of room to move around or you could possibly hurt yourself/a Wall/something else. Very fast paced and with a mix of moving around and teleporting (not to mention dodging balls), it's easy to get mixed up where you're at in the real world lol

Unfortunately I found out the hard way about having enough room within the first weeks of using VR. :( I still have not replaced the wife's TV in the bedroom......
I will try the game today now that I have my contacts in!

Pavlov, Soundboxing, Smashbox Arena, Holopoint, and NewRetroArcade: Neon are my favorite games currently. I also like messing around with CAOTS locomotion/parkour in Freedom Locomotion VR (free) and Deep End occasionally. Oddly enough, with the exception of Deep End, I have disliked all the vr games I have tried that have an asking price of over $20. And Deep End is slated to drop in price soon so it kinna doesn't count.

Vanishing Realms is probably the best roomscale experience I've had.
