Deus Ex : Mankind Divided

gameplay will most likely be fantastic so that's the most important thing for me (especially in a Deus Ex game)...amazing graphics would have been a bonus...Human Revolution wasn't anything amazing in terms of eye candy either...I think most people were just happy that they didn't ruin the franchise with a terrible 3rd game...if a GTX 770 can run the DX11 version close to 60fps then can the DX12 version realistically be expected to bring any major graphical upgrades?...DX12 seems more about performance and multitasking

God why can't the game come out today so I can have all weekend to play it!

Thought this was interesting taken from the review linked above. Didn't know this about the game but then again I haven't been following it super close either.

"The big difference in DX:MD is the addition of some jacked-up powers that Jensen learns were somehow hidden in him all along. Whilst figuring out how the heck someone stealth-installed that tech into his body, he learns to take advantage of its juice in the meantime... at a cost. If you turn on any of the experimental bonuses—like the ability to turn electric elements off from a distance or shoot friggin' lasers from your hands—you'll have to permanently deactivate some other element of your suit. Whatever you deactivate will truly never come back, forcing a killer tradeoff that fuels the "oh, gosh, what am I going to upgrade" anxiety that people simultaneously love and hate about Deus Ex."

I'm starting to get pumped. I'm a little curious whether this will be a game I need to go KB/M for or if it's paced where I can rock a pad.
I used a mix of both in the last game.

They improved gun combat but its still not a twitch shooter so you should be able to use a controller no problem. I too would like to play this through my NVIDIA Shield on my TV. Getting an Xbox One S controller for Forza Horizon 3.

Let's hope that going Rambo doesn't break the game. Very excited about it. My pre order is ready.

Seriously wondering about performance. A 980 Ti @ 1080P hovers around 60FPS average on just high settings. I am playing @ 1440P.

Yes! I love this! I love games where your actions have permanent consequences. I shouldn't be able to just have all augmentations or switch them out at will, that should require another playthrough. Can't fucking wait.

I can't say I agree. Unless you have like permanent surgery or something... praxis kit doesn't seem to be that.

based on the reviews the game sounds as good as expected...why did the DX12 version have to be delayed!?!?...I actually installed Windows 10 on a spare hard drive for this game (and actually ended up liking W10 way more then I thought I would)

I'm one of the people that likes to do everything in one playthrough, but I see both sides of the coin. It mainly depends on how much you enjoy the game. If you love the game enough to justify playing 2-3 times, it's a good thing. If it's only a good game, then you're stuck making a choice that can affect your one playthrough for the worse.

Not a whole lot said about the PC version, which is always a shame. Fingers crossed that no news = no bad news.

Thing is in RNG games like the original Deus Ex where it was just stat bonuses like +2 str, +2 hp, +3 aim I understand but now a days games that are more point and shoot the bonuses tend to be much stronger. Now we have abilities that let you see through walls, take someone out in 1 shot, break shortcuts, go invisible. Stuff like this makes the game too easy when there's no consequence of choice. It's too easy to just pick any path you want instead of sticking to one distinct path for your playthrough, there should be trade offs.

It's not ready yet, sadly. Anyone I've seen with review copies that has tried the DX12 version has said it's not ready yet. At least it's only a two week delay.

It sounds like reviewers didn't have access to the day 1 patch or "optimized" drivers for the game. So we'll have to wait until release to really see what performance is like.

The Ars review said positive things in a sidebar. The settings screens were posted to NeoGAF. A reviewer on Twitter said it was locked to 60fps.

Decent PC performance isn't a given so I guess I'm just looking for a bit more depth. Almost like we need a game review and a technical review (I know [H] does this).

Nvidia drivers were already out. Don't know if anyone's seen/heard anything about a PC launch patch.

The Steam forums are reporting that they got their Green Man Gaming keys already not sure about CD Keys though. Still can't play the game till tuesday unless you use some kinda hack.

It's true. I am preloading and I had purchased via GMG.

Game runs pretty badly according to Russians:

DX12 perf is especially great:

See, that seems like artificial difficulty. If it made sense in the game's context, like I mentioned with permanent changes then okay. But to just arbitrarily add it seems dumb to me.

the reviews I've read all pretty much are in agreement that the game is good but not amazing...more of the same from Human Revolution...the setting is the real star...I hear the game is also fairly short...

"Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, five years later, is not a sequel that moves the series forward in a meaningful way. It makes small improvements, no doubt based on feedback from the original, but it’s shorter, smaller and has a more convoluted plot. This is not a case of a great original that got far better with a sequel, the way we see quality leaps from Uncharted 1 to 2, or Assassin’s Creed 1 to 2. Human Revolution to Mankind Divided is at best a lateral move, meaning it doesn’t feel terribly fresh the second time around, but you could even argue that it takes a few steps back as well."

I went with GMG wish I got it for 36.00 yesterday though 44.99 is good enough for me
CD keys just keeps raising their price =D

I'm fine with it not being a super long 40-50+ hour experience. I've seen 30 hours thrown around for doing the story and most of the side quests and that's perfectly fine with me.

the review I linked in my last post said: "So, imagine my surprise when I did manage to finish the entire game, playing at a leisurely pace, in less than a day and a half. Maybe about 10-12 hours total, even with all the exploring and sidequests"

Kind of concerned about the performance as well. This reviewer tested the game at 1080P with dual 1080's and a 6700K processor and said it still stuttered heavily in busy scenes. This was with the latest "Game Ready" drivers from Nvidia.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided PC review

Hopefully the DX12 version will see some optimizations as the game sounds great!

If New Nvidia drivers are released next week it may improve performance with the game.

Now a days artificial difficulty is the only way to make a game more difficult. With how easy it is to just point and shoot to get headshots, there's really no overly difficult AI based FPS that I can think of.

Game-Ready drivers for Mankind Divided (and No Man's Sky) were already released this past week...there will not be another one next week
