Nexus M ( 2015 ) Smartphone

That's a good glass half full way of looking at it. People would still snatch it up at say $350-400 for the base 32GB model and store it in side cargo pants to avoid any issues.

I ordered the 6P last night and got an ETA of November 18th. It's already shipped and is being delivered tomorrow. WTF?

Ordered mine Thursday and still 'pending,' What color & size did you get?

Funny you linked The Verge since they're the lowest form of sheep.

And yet, they're more credible on the internet than you are here on this forum.

So I'm not sure how that makes their conclusion any less rational. But how about this flow chart Android Police made for you to follow as well?

Hell, even JerryRig says himself in the video "Any positive things anyone has ever said about this phone, is probably still true... this doesn't make it a terrible phone".

I maintain that it's a non-issue. Do I wish it was stronger though? Sure, but I don't like sitting on my phones or trying to fold them in half, so I'm pretty sure the risk is minimal for me and 99% of others using it. Just like even with the dozens of people complaining about the iPhone 6+ in that other thread you linked to probably account for less than 1% of its users/buyers even if you add everyone who was affected and didn't post in that thread. At least out of the small sample of 10-15 people I know at work, school, and friends with the 6+, none of them inadvertently bent it somehow. Though at least half of them have those crazy otterbox cases on them too.

First report of bending in pocket. The owner claims Google won't cross ship but expect to receive the defective device first before shipping out a replacement. Something to think about.

Nexus sheep deniers and internet PhDs without common sense need not reply. For everyone else this exposure will get it fixed like the iPhone 6 to 6S.

My phone is bent. Discovered it the day after I received it. Was hoping it was a manufacturing defect but that seems unlikely. It's bent right at the power button as he mentions in the video. Check my history for the post in r/nexus6p and all the idiots claiming it was photoshopped

Lol why do you continue on with this T4rd? It's not like he's changing anyone's mind over this.

We are all sheep. Sheep with bent ass phones.

Shouldn't that be "bent-ass phones"? Or would it rather be "bent ass-phones"? Or perhaps one compound word "bent-ass-phones"?

I'm sure our resident Samsung fan can tell us.

If Google is really serious about making a quality phone, they least they could do is pre-bend it for the customer.

Ok, we get it, big devices bend when you sit on them. They aren't immune to physics just like the bent ipad, iphone 6, Note 3, G3, and Galaxy S5 that were mentioned in that thread. Jesus Christ dude, there's no need to spam this forum.

Cancelled my 6P Graphite and ordered an Aluminum at the wee-hours this morning. Shipped 2 hours ago...

If you want the phone soon, get the aluminum in other words. Won't show fingerprints or scratches as easily too (but that's what a case is for)

Yeah, I'd still take the graphite one and slap a thin transparent case on it of some sort. It's going to be a couple weeks before I order the phone at least anyways, so hoping supply issues will be sorted out by then.

I'm ordering an iPhone 6S on-contract to renew my Verizon unlimited data contract another two years to keep Verizon from jacking my UDP up another $20/month (from $30 to $50). Then I'm selling that to cover the cost of the 6P.

Though I haven't seen anything official from Verizon saying they're doing that yet, so not sure if that's really happening..? Wouldn't be surprised if they wait until the day before to announce it.

Edit: Found this nice trick to enable double tap to wake. This has become 2nd nature to me on my M8, one of those things you use every day and forget other phones don't use, so this will be much appreciated even with the fingerprint scanner I think if I just want to glace at notifications or lock screen info.

What storage?

I've had a 32gb aluminium preorderd for over two weeks and still pending.

EDIT: I lied, order is processing and CC was charged today. Hopefully that means its shipping tomorrow.

Are there any glass screen protectors in stock anywhere yet? Everything I see on Amazon shows in stock the 7th-11th. I don't want to use the phone without a screen protector.

OK, so I have only ever had typical Verizon phones. The best thing about this phone for me so far is pure Android. No touchwiz no ios just pure fast Android.

I am glad i am experiencing it on such a great bendable phone.

Verizon says I have to bring in my phone before they give me a nano SIM. Why do these fuckers always make everything difficult? I think I may just get a cutter; I ain't letting their greasy ass hands on my 6P.

Yeah, I would just cut it down with a cutter or even scissors if you think you can be careful enough and have some smaller precision scissors. I've cut my SIM down from a full, to micro, then to nano, hah. I bet Verizon will have issues activating a new SIM in it and will either tell you you're SOL or if they really care and want to help, they can just activate the SIM in a normal Verizon phone, then swap it into your 6P. That's what my friend had to do with his Moto X Pure when it first launched.

Dude, I just used heavy duty scissors to cut mine it was dead easy. Just keep trimming until it fits.

I even cut the key angle on both sides accidentally and it still works.

Try borrowing an IMEI from a Verizon nano SIM phone like from family/friend/store display then order a nano SIM replacement through Verizon online (My Verizon > My Device > Activate or Switch Device). Otherwise, use a quality SIM cutter to avoid issues if you ever use a SIM adapter to go back up in size for whatever reason.

I fucking knew I was going to run into something like this; there is always some kind of cosmetic issue every time I get a new device.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Nexus6P/comments/3qgw7x/nexus_6p_bottom_back_panel/

Mine is nowhere near as bad as this dude's, but I can definitely feel the edge of the back panel on its left side if I run my finger down.

sucks but google seems to be pretty responsive to replacing these when an issue comes up.
Prolly even advance replace it.

Sorry you got screwed.

I know this is kinda beating a dead horse but that jerry rig guy did a new video with a new 6p unboxed on video and bent it like cheese...

I just wish he had done it in a 3 point bending machine to show how much force it took like if it takes 20-30 lbs like the iphone 6 or if it takes over 90lbs to bend it...

Curios about everyone that is concerned with their phone bending. Do you sit with it in you back pocket and is that what the concern is? I have a Nexus 6 and always take it out of my pocket when I sit.

Likewise. I never put my phone in my back pocket, and would never sit on it. With the phone in my front pocket, I can't see how it would get bent. Even if we accept that the phone bends easily, who does that affect in the real world?

The last time I broke a phone it was a Motorola flip phone with a retractable antenna that broke off. It was my first cell phone, probably close to 15 years ago. I don't baby my phones either. I don't use an OtterBox. I don't even always put them in a case. Never had an issue arise from just using my phones normally. I don't have even the slightest fear that the 6P will give me trouble.

The 6P comes with both CtoC and CtoA - did you buy the 5x?

If anything, I just need a second CtoC (with AC adapter) for travel, and I'm all set.
The only time I ever need a CtoA is for data transfers (throw some TV shows/movies on it for a plane trip).

If I get a mobile battery, it's going to be native CtoC anyway - and with the battery life I get on the 6P (compared to my N5, which lived on a Qi charger), I'm in no rush to get an external haha.

I am on chat with Google. I thought I would complain that people were getting their phones before my preorder and see if they will throw me a bone.

Let's see shall we?

Yeah, I have a 5X. If they were only going to put 1 cable in the package, I would have preferred a CtoA. That way I could use it for data and with old chargers.

I just bought some cheap cables from ebay and am going to take my chances.

Yeah I do think it was a dick move by Google not to include that cable for 5X buyers.

The USB-C standard makes me feel like I'm buying Monster cables frankly: $15+ for cables is kind of ridiculous.
I saw one $12 CtoA cable...which then promptly disappeared from Amazon haha.

Hopefully prices come down a bit once there's more USB-C devices in the wild.

An engineer at Google has taken up a personal campaign against non-compliant USB-C adapter cables, warning of potential charging problems or device damage.

Benson Leung, who worked on Google’s latest Chromebook Pixel and Pixel C tablet, has been calling out the guilty cables in his reviews on Amazon. The issue lies solely with cables that have the new reversible USB Type-C connector on one end, and legacy Type-A or Type-B connectors on the other. As Leung notes, these cables must use a specific resistor value to meet compliance and charge safely.

The worst case scenario with these cables is they could damage the user’s hub, charger, or device. When plugged into a laptop such as the Chromebook Pixel, they may also fail to charge properly. “I have started reviewing USB cables on Amazon because I have gotten fed up with the early cables from 3rd party vendors that so blatantly flaunt the specification and I want to hold them to task,” Leung wrote on Google+

Google Store e-mail support is pretty horrible. Took them two days to respond. Yeah, I should have called, but I was trying to avoid having to give that massive order number over the phone---although now I realize they would have probably just asked for my IMEI.

Loving my 6P so far... I am at 4 hours SOT with 38% battery left with push email set up.

My 6P comes today. Problem is, my screen protector didn't ship until today and my case hasn't shipped at all yet.

Going to have to be very careful for the next few days...
