Dell U3415W Dual Monitor Options!?

Hi All,

I've had my 34" U3415W for a while now, and while I love it, I miss having a second screen.

What are some logical choices for a second monitor? It seems there's tons of sales for this thing lately, but it would be silly to put them side-by-side!

Would a 16:10 to the right or left make sense, or perhaps stacking them?

Any advice or input would be appreciated!

It seems I can't find many pictures on the internet at all regarding two of these, so hopefully someone can provide input.

i ended up with two U3415W (damn those dell deals). i couldn't come up with a setup i liked, it's just way too wide for me. i didn't try stacking them, that didn't really appeal to me either. ended up taking one to work. i use 2x 2007WFP i had laying around in portrait on both sides (angled inwards) of my single U3415W. not the newest monitors, but it works great for productivity mode.

The sadness of 16:9 dominance; need to flip a screen to get decent vertical space, but then stuck with very little horizontal space. At least x1440 tends to be enough for some things.

I myself have 2560x1600 with two 2007FP's on the side; perfect match for pixelsize. But they (or an update) can't be bought new anymore.
 
do you use the browser in full screen?
some websites, like facebook, have a lot of wasted space when you have it full screen,

Euh no, that's 10% off. 1440x900 on 17" is 100 DPI, the 34" 3440x1440 screens are 110 DPI.

Or pixelpitch of 0,255 mm for these 17" and 0,232 mm for the 34".

Plus they can't be bought new.

Facebook is a waste regardless of screen :)
 
a 17" 1440x900 costs ~$59 refurbished. So 10% off is good enough value, until one finds a 15.5" 1440x900 to replicate the PPI and resolution of the U3415w.
 
The most logical choice for a second monitor would be a 27" 2560x1440 monitor, as it's almost exactly the same height. Even better if you can find one with a similar bezel and if you can use a hardware calibrator to get it matching the 34"
 
I used to run a 23" in portrait on the right.


But since it didn't scale well with the 34" so I've basically abandoned it. Took a while to get used to, I've been running dual monitor for at least 15 years.
